  1. There isn't that much uncertainty. It's going to be 25-30 mph winds with 45 mph gusts, there will have been a foot or more of snow that has already fallen by game time from afternoon Saturday thru early Sunday and it will be snowing heavily for much of the game. Chance of precip is 100 %
  2. I would almost prefer Williams out there at LB in this game. Steelers aren't going to try and trick you, they will just run right at you. Williams is a heat seeking missile in those situations... Bills also re-signed AJ Klein who might be valuable as well since they wouldn't be able to expose him in pass coverage most likely but he is very solid against the run and his run fits
  3. Really? Douglas would be huge in a game where the longest pass attempted by the Steelers might be 10 yards? Especially with Hamlin's terrible angles in run fits.
  4. Because unless they are in this area and have years of experience they don't know their ass from their elbows in these events because they have never actually forecasted these events. The models give guidance but the actual forecasts are based off of a LOT more than this with these events which come from many years of experience and seeing how similar scenarios played out previously. There is far more granularity required than what they are going to have...a slight wind shift can cause the snow to move 10 miles and cause one place to get buried and another to get nothing. There is no way for these big outlets to forecast that properly. They are fine 99% of time, just not when truly localized events like this happen.
  5. Not really. Those games are cancelled due to travel to/from the game and parking lot issues...there is nowhere to park and plow crews aren't worried about trying to plow parking lots out when streets aren't open. Also a political issue where people demand to know why they are wasting resources there when their streets aren't plowed in case of medical emergency
  6. Stop looking at anything that is not NWS Buffalo or Donn Paul. Those forecasts are meaningless. This is a localized event and they don't have the ability to forecast those.
  7. He is talking about the ground crews preparing the stadium for the game
  8. The Fins will have lost that game the second they step off the plane.
  9. He has pretty much been the coach in waiting apparently He effectively was the DC this year apparently.
  10. If I was a betting man, I would project those totals to rise upward over the next 24 hours
  11. Ground crews will be prepared. Jeffrey Fowler with the Penn State Cooperative Extension works closely with grounds crews all over the world. He said the Bills crew has seen snow before. "Armageddon could hit them and they wouldn't even know the difference," Fowler said over Zoom.
  12. Yes and 8-12 inches Saturday night prior to this. Yes...Buffalo is showing 22.2" currently as the projected storm total thru Monday morning
  13. From what I am reading it seems the bands will be moving more than normal, steering the heaviest snow to different areas
  14. Haha, then you should move away from Elmwood because you miss out on the majority of the lake snow events. Yeah, it's definitely becoming more irritating and as I get older I am getting more and more tired of the giant snowpiles to deal with are becoming more frequent. Never had a 7 foot snow event until 2014 and that was described as a "once in 1000 year storm" and it literally happened again 8 years to the day later.
  15. If you lived thru last year's winter and were south of Williamsville, you would get it. Last year almost broke me and I grew up here and have lived here my whole life outside of a 12 year period in my college years and the 8 years after. 35+ years. In the snow belt areas. It's simply changing. The heavier storms are becoming more frequent due to the lakes often being at record warm temperatures now and the amount of moisture that can be sucked up and then dumped is directly proportional to the difference between the air and water temperature, which is becoming higher and higher over time. I'd much rather get 7 feet over 4 weeks than have 7 feet in 2 days and then nothing for the other 3 weeks and 5 days. That's the main difference
  16. Not sure..especially since by the time they clear the seat and get done with a section it will have just as much snow on it as before they cleared it since it will be still snowing heavily. Plus with the wind blowing around it may just blow it back onto the seats
  17. So far it just looks cold without much wind...like 23 and winds 10-15 mph.
  18. Unlikely...this area is pretty much fine with anything under 4 feet. We have the best snow plowing in the country outside of the Sierra Nevada Mountains that get like 15-20 feet of snow in storm systems at times. So good that many other states send their snow plow drivers to be trained in WNY
  19. There is increasing thought the lake snows could extend into Monday and possibly even Tuesday now. This is going to be a rough winter week in WNY. Can't really complain, we have gotten off Scott Free all winter so far and the lake is at a record warm temperature right now so that was kind of foreboding as it was.
  20. NOAA expected snow for Buffalo is a little under 2 feet thru Monday morning. This could and often does increase as we get closer and they become more sure of the wind direction. Looks like Buffalo Metro and the immediate Southtowns are taking the brunt of this on the chin while the game is being played. Think Indy Snow game with slightly less wind than the New England Wind Game mixed together.
  21. How do you know the offense would not have taken a KC nosedive without them? Are you clairvoyant or did you just stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night?
  22. Well, it's happening. Chance of precipitation on Sunday in Orchard Park is 100% and the forecast is for 8-12" Saturday Night on top of that. Latest forecast: "Saturday Night Snow. The snow could be heavy at times. Areas of blowing snow. Low around 21. Windy, with a southwest wind 28 to 36 mph, with gusts as high as 60 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 8 to 12 inches possible. Sunday Snow before 7am, then a chance of snow showers between 7am and 10am, then snow after 10am. The snow could be heavy at times. Areas of blowing snow after 10am. High near 24. Windy, with a southwest wind 26 to 30 mph, with gusts as high as 44 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%."
  23. It's also the first time the Steelers have ever played here in the playoffs. All 3 prior matchups were in Pittsburgh.
  24. Buffalo Metro now supposed to get in on the action Saturday night... Just looked at NWS Buffalo forecast for my area in the Depew/Lancaster area and see we now have a Winter Storm Watch as well and they expect 6-10 inches of snow Saturday night. Likely much higher than that...weather.com is not a reliable source for these events. NWS Buffalo or Donn Paul only.
  25. You cannot ask a player to do as much as Allen is asked to do, put up 400+ yards running/passing every week and then say "Oh yeah, and btw, we can't have you turn the ball over." That's just the way it is. If you want to ask him to do as much as you are, you have to accept there will be some bad along the way. But there will be far more good.
