  1. I do my best to ignore this crap most of the time, but this one peeves me just a bit.... My theory is that this "prediction" is made to formula for the mainstream news.... How many regimes have you seen going into their 3rd year (or so) in charge of an NFL franchise, and you always have the random pundit declare they will be the big underdog "surprise" playoff contender! Is it just simply a statistical advantage they're going off of based on GM/HCs success going into their 3rd-4th year with a franchise? At any rate, this seems to be a typical year, to me, to say the Bills are finally gonna get over that hump... We've already heard it from a few pundits right after the draft.... Is it wrong to think the mainstream press is merely going through their typical formula... after bashing and completely ignoring Buffalo for the last 2 seasons, now a few are suddenly gonna take a "chance" on this young, budding team because "it's about time"...??? When it comes to the Buffalo Bills, the mainstream sports media completely ignores, insults or laughs at them on a usual basis... They have with this regime since it started.... Now, all of the sudden, they've slyly seen the light and deep talent that has magically appeared in Orchard Park and they want to be the ones who predicted it???? F***$%# TYPICAL!!!! I've got an idea, pundit whores!!! Go back to your usual ways of dismissing and balking at any mention of One Bills Drive and their draft "reaches" and expensive free agent indulgences!!! We'll take care of this underdog, come-outta-nowhere, Super Bowl contender thing without you leeching on at the last possible moment!!! Besides... that will make it that much SWEETER!!!!
  2. One clue as to what the Bills will need in the 2009 draft is who is a UFA next offseason.... Obviously SLB Crowell and WR Evans are the two big ones... along with both C Fowler and backup C/G Preston... So, if a couple of these guys aren't re-signed, LB, WR, or C will be a top need... I believe they will at least sign one of either Evans or Crowell... but Preston and Fowler are most likely gone.... This should put C at or near the top of the list...
  3. Johnson seems to have good footwork and very good hands... If he doesn't show enough the first year, the Bills probably will continue developing him on the practice squad.... He could be a fun one to watch at training camp....
  4. What will be most interesting to see with Hardy is whether he is able to utilize his height and jump-ball ability from the beginning or not... It was an advantage in college, but the NFL is a different animal... If he can utilize his size early, he may be more successful than many rookie WRs.... My only paranoia with Hardy is that with such a large, lanky frame, the knees could be a target... Lets hope he gets even more muscle packed on those limbs.... and quickly!
  5. I'd say that's a good crack at the roster... The competition at TE, RB and CB will be the talk of camp... Get over yourself....
  6. Captain Marvel??? I thought he'd compare us more to the ol' web slinger, Spidey... the resilient goofball that gets abused, but keeps bouncing back....
  7. Screw Belichick.... He had the damned arrogance to run scores up on teams last year at the end of games, gleefully making other coaches suffer through the final moments... and then not have to be on the field to witness his own demise... And that's not even considering the obvious warnings from Goodell over videotaping other teams signals in any way.... The jerk doesn't even acknowledge any guilt... as far as he's concerned, he's innocent... Throw him to the wolves!!!
  8. Will Lori close this thread?
  9. The word "bliss" will just scratch the surface for me the day Buffalo wins the Super Bowl... and every bad memory of past games, past heckling from others over my unyielding obsessive resilience, and constant disrespect from every media outlet, rival, or contrarian will be purged from my long-suffering soul... I anticipate that heavenly day like no other...
  10. Sounds like Jessica Simpson is making the rounds in the NFC East...
  11. Couldn't agree with you more on McKelvin.... Any less than 5-6 years will be a bad thing... Because if he is as good as he looks, he will be very hard to re-sign as he is hitting his prime...
  12. That's all we need... Josh Reed as a #2 again? Sheesh!
  13. Very creative post, Dibs.... We now know the so-called T.D. era was a bunch of mularkey...
  14. Aaahhhh Daniel son, you all wet behind ear!!!!
  15. Not a bad thing at all... Like you said, its a welcome change from TD's chaotic surprises!!
  16. I completely agree with you and how you would have gone about it... although at the end of the day, I'm fine with the pick and think there will now be a dangerous triple threat on returns... and apparently he was Buffalo's guy from the beginning... I just hope we get him signed for 5-6 years, at least... There was one post by Pete before the draft that still makes me curious as to whether we were going to trade down if McKelvin had not been there...
  17. Nice post I was another one who didn't think they needed a CB until later in the draft, but they stuck to their board and took what they thought was the best athlete left at #11 in a "need" position... and still came away with their choice at WR... Predictable indeed!!
  18. Another 2-gap DT in the same mold as Stroud would be nice... if they can actually find one... Too many linemen is never a bad thing...
  19. A coach should have ample time to steer a team... and in the case of talent and the Bills, just treading water is a challenge... Being a small market team, the Bills can't always keep the talent they need to make a breakthrough... Therefore, a coach like Jauron has to stockpile whereever he can to keep talent at a position... and fend off the injuries that very well may happen... Anyone who saw a team, especially its defense, starting 4th stringers and street free agents by the middle of the season realizes that Jauron pulled off a small miracle keeping the team competitive... and actually winning 7 games while staying in the playoff hunt into December... and that was only the regime's 2nd year, fellas... after having to come in with new schemes and fix the personnel mess TD left behind, I like the direction this regime is taking.... There has been an influx of draft talent, they have re-signed a solid core of players that could have easily walked, and brought in some solid free agent additions... Now, if Wilson fires Jauron after the season, all of that goes down the toilet.... Another coach with another philosophy comes in and starts molding the team in his image.... cutting some of Jauron's additions, letting some go in FA, and starting over... Then, as usual, we are back to just treading water again... Really, some of these posts don't surprise me... Some Bills fans have a reputation of knee-jerk reactions... finding a scapegoat to blame time and again, and running said scapegoat out of town... believing that the cancer he "caused" all by himself will now be cured... Jim Kelly's last year was a perfect example... Forget what the guy had already done for the team... as soon as it looked like he wasn't all-world anymore, he was booed, heckled, and made a scapegoat... This does not reflect Bills fans as a majority... But unfortunately thanks to the few, we have all gained the whiney Red Sox reputation, blaming our team's problems on the newest sacrificial lamb, feeding him to the wolves, and then finding the next altar sacrifice when things aren't perfect... But go ahead, fellas... Tell me how wrong I am and that your sh** doesn't stink...
  20. Yeah... That's reality!!! Throw the ring into the fire, Frodo!!!
  21. What is worth discussing is the fact that you should stop spanking me....
  22. Yeah... They're actually playing the game again now... Miami could have had an extra play at the end of the first half, but the refs were slow putting the football on the line of scrimmage... With 15 ticks left, they threw a 6-7 yd. pass to Thurman and he raced out of bounds... He then started loudly cursing the refs for their botching of the snap! And after all that, I found it so satisfying that the arch-enemy of my team actually got the screwjob from the refs for once (a courtesy usually reserved for Buffalo), but at the same time, found it so ironic that Mr. Buffalo Bill was bitching about it.... Why Thurman...? Why?
  23. Surprisingly, some of those posters were quite kind to the talent on the Bills roster.... It will be hard enough to pry the division away from the Pats... but what I worry about is ALL the competition in the AFC.... This team would be better off in the NFC... I hope we can win 1 out of 2 against NE, but the wild card is going to be a very tough race... Here are the teams that will most likely contend in the AFC: NE, Indy, Jax, Tenn, SD, Pitt, Cle... and I think Den. and possibly Hou. will be on the cusp... that's 9 teams, not considering any surprises, that will probably at least contend... Buffalo will have to be on its "A" game with minimal injuries and an improved Trent Edwards to even begin to chisel away at the brick wall in front of them... Call that a cynical opinion if you like.... I call it reality...
