  1. I completely agree with you and how you would have gone about it... although at the end of the day, I'm fine with the pick and think there will now be a dangerous triple threat on returns... and apparently he was Buffalo's guy from the beginning... I just hope we get him signed for 5-6 years, at least... There was one post by Pete before the draft that still makes me curious as to whether we were going to trade down if McKelvin had not been there...
  2. Nice post I was another one who didn't think they needed a CB until later in the draft, but they stuck to their board and took what they thought was the best athlete left at #11 in a "need" position... and still came away with their choice at WR... Predictable indeed!!
  3. Another 2-gap DT in the same mold as Stroud would be nice... if they can actually find one... Too many linemen is never a bad thing...
  4. A coach should have ample time to steer a team... and in the case of talent and the Bills, just treading water is a challenge... Being a small market team, the Bills can't always keep the talent they need to make a breakthrough... Therefore, a coach like Jauron has to stockpile whereever he can to keep talent at a position... and fend off the injuries that very well may happen... Anyone who saw a team, especially its defense, starting 4th stringers and street free agents by the middle of the season realizes that Jauron pulled off a small miracle keeping the team competitive... and actually winning 7 games while staying in the playoff hunt into December... and that was only the regime's 2nd year, fellas... after having to come in with new schemes and fix the personnel mess TD left behind, I like the direction this regime is taking.... There has been an influx of draft talent, they have re-signed a solid core of players that could have easily walked, and brought in some solid free agent additions... Now, if Wilson fires Jauron after the season, all of that goes down the toilet.... Another coach with another philosophy comes in and starts molding the team in his image.... cutting some of Jauron's additions, letting some go in FA, and starting over... Then, as usual, we are back to just treading water again... Really, some of these posts don't surprise me... Some Bills fans have a reputation of knee-jerk reactions... finding a scapegoat to blame time and again, and running said scapegoat out of town... believing that the cancer he "caused" all by himself will now be cured... Jim Kelly's last year was a perfect example... Forget what the guy had already done for the team... as soon as it looked like he wasn't all-world anymore, he was booed, heckled, and made a scapegoat... This does not reflect Bills fans as a majority... But unfortunately thanks to the few, we have all gained the whiney Red Sox reputation, blaming our team's problems on the newest sacrificial lamb, feeding him to the wolves, and then finding the next altar sacrifice when things aren't perfect... But go ahead, fellas... Tell me how wrong I am and that your sh** doesn't stink...
  5. Yeah... That's reality!!! Throw the ring into the fire, Frodo!!!
  6. What is worth discussing is the fact that you should stop spanking me....
  7. Yeah... They're actually playing the game again now... Miami could have had an extra play at the end of the first half, but the refs were slow putting the football on the line of scrimmage... With 15 ticks left, they threw a 6-7 yd. pass to Thurman and he raced out of bounds... He then started loudly cursing the refs for their botching of the snap! And after all that, I found it so satisfying that the arch-enemy of my team actually got the screwjob from the refs for once (a courtesy usually reserved for Buffalo), but at the same time, found it so ironic that Mr. Buffalo Bill was bitching about it.... Why Thurman...? Why?
  8. Surprisingly, some of those posters were quite kind to the talent on the Bills roster.... It will be hard enough to pry the division away from the Pats... but what I worry about is ALL the competition in the AFC.... This team would be better off in the NFC... I hope we can win 1 out of 2 against NE, but the wild card is going to be a very tough race... Here are the teams that will most likely contend in the AFC: NE, Indy, Jax, Tenn, SD, Pitt, Cle... and I think Den. and possibly Hou. will be on the cusp... that's 9 teams, not considering any surprises, that will probably at least contend... Buffalo will have to be on its "A" game with minimal injuries and an improved Trent Edwards to even begin to chisel away at the brick wall in front of them... Call that a cynical opinion if you like.... I call it reality...
  9. A fluke??? Did you not see their playoff games against GB and Dallas... The likes of Favre, Romo, nor Brady could get time to throw against that pass rush... They pressured all of them.... and the teams had no answer for it... A one hit wonder? Perhaps you should go back and watch some of the Giants games... They are a better team then you think...
  10. A lot of trade downs so far.... Makes me wonder if Buffalo got offers but turned them down.... We may never know, but the trade down teams seem to be getting set up!
  11. McKelvin, eh? Well, I've said before that CB wouldn't be my first pick, but if they were gonna take one, this kid looks like the best... and I'm very excited about his return ability....
  12. You will forever hold a place in my heart, lets_go_bills... That was like a fine brown ale going down cool and smooth... FISH FRY!!!!!
  13. If the USC boys Ellis or Rivers ain't there, then I say Buffalo trades down and take Malcolm Kelly... backup prediction: Limas Sweed
  14. and when the coverage resumes, the first thing you see is the likes of Mort and Kiper sporting evil smirks, waiting for a chance to critique the Buffalo blooper reel they just saw on Youtube... and quickly move on to how great Shanahan's pick is...
  15. Is this the first "official first round draft pick thread"?
  16. OK... for my dream draft (which won't happen, but still fun): 1. One of the USC boys if still on the board: DT Ellis or OLB Rivers... if they aren't there, trade down and draft the bad boy, WR Malcolm Kelly. 2. Yet another USC guy, TE Fred Davis... unless Dustin Keller is still around. 3. Another WR, Jordy Nelson, which will fortify the offense and help Buffalo concentrate more on defense later in the draft. 3. Extra pick if Buffalo is able to trade down... and yet another USC guy, CB Terell Thomas. However, this is how I think Buffalo really plays it: 1. Whether they stay here or trade down, nearly all the pundits are saying WR Devin Thomas... and I can see the reasoning... Seems like a typical Buffalo pick. 2. CB Antoine Cason... a Cover-2 corner, seems to have great instincts. 3. TE Martin Rucker... a versatile weapon with good size and hands... He may be gone by this pick, but a good prospect if still there.
  17. Why not go make a deal? What do you consider a good deal??? Because, from what I've heard through different media outlets the Cardinals organization has no interest in trading him.... If that is true, then the only way they change their minds is for primo compensation... What do you consider fair??? And if we were able to get him, do you think he would want a new contract (like hes posturing for now)? If so, signing him and then Evans next offseason may not be possible...
  18. Oops... Yep... my mistake... Props to you Grouse... He aint gettin' traded... unless its a boatload!
  19. Whaaaa???? If that's true, then he went for more than I thought he would....
  20. Gotta agree with Boomer on this one.... Arizona would have to be crazy to trade Boldin, and if the Bills want him, they would have to give up the farm and then give him a huge contract... and prepare to say bye-bye to Evans next year... I'd love to have Boldin more than most WRs, but not at the price he will most likely cost...
