Couldn't agree with ya more... I've been screaming for them to work on the defensive front seven more for years as well as more work on the OL... Going back to the 3-4 may be an excellent scheme change for this team... Oh and hey Braylon... DOINK!!! -

I'm fine with Stroud, Williams and S. Johnson... They could still use more depth at DT though... Its the DE position that needs work... I hope Maybin can progress for next year, cause man, we need it... -

I'll refer to what Buffalonian-at-Heart said on this... Also, Mario Williams was taken #1 overall, over guys like Reggie Bush, Vince Young, D'Brickashaw Ferguson and several other players who have developed into very good or great players... He played 3 full years in college and went through every practice and an entire training camp his rookie year... Maybin was taken at #11... not #1... That's a big difference... Comparing him to the #1 overall pick is an unfair argument... Brian Orakpo was taken two picks later and from what I remember, was rated right alongside Maybin... Tyson Jackson was taken #3... So you are saying that the #2-#3 rated DE taken as the 11th player overall should be evenly compared to the #1 player overall from 3 and a half years ago who played a year longer in college and was present for his entire first training camp... Your argument is a bit unfair, don't you think?
-
John, I agree with what you are saying... But I will also say that Maybin is one of those players that needs more time to develop... He came out after really only playing 2 years at Penn State and then missed the entire length of training camp... I think the 2010 season might give us a better gauge as to how his technique is evolving...

Why the fixation with hiring a big-name coach?
Búfalo Blanco replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
PTR, All good points... Based on Buffalo's track record of hiring assistants to the HC position, ala Williams, Mularkey, and Jauron and missing out on guys we also interviewed like John Fox, I don't believe the organization has any room for failure this time. If they do go the typical Buffalo way of hiring a cheap asst. to take over, he will not have ANY room for error... He'd better be good and quickly... I don't believe the Buffalo fan base has any patience left if the organization goes this route. Regardless of how popular the asst. already is, season ticket sales could take a hit if they go that route yet again. Additionally, while you are correct that there have been several former assistants as of late who have become successful HCs quickly, more often than not, it is a crapshoot... If they hire another asst. who then fails like Williams, Mularkey and Jauron did, they will lose even more sales... The fans are already fed up, what if we go through the same 3 year span yet again? Not even Bills fans are that loyal... I'll say again, if the organization takes this philosophy again, it had better be right this time and fast... On the other hand, hiring a veteran HC, and possibly one who has already won the Super Bowl could be a failure as well... who knows. However, those guys do have a proven track record, will immediately have the respect of the players and will bring excitement to the fan base... much the same as signing T.O. did... perhaps more so... Free agents and coordinators/asst. coaches may be more inclined to sign here... Ultimately, the percentages for success may be better with this option in Buffalo... regardless of how these options have turned out elsewhere. At any rate, whatever the decision may be, it better be correct this time... I don't think the fans have it in them to watch much more of this never-ending tragedy... -
9 games, a training camp, and an offseason too late... This should have happened a long time ago... I'm happy it finally did happen, but skeptical of what happens between now and next season... It would be nice to see them sign one of the many experienced, successful FA HCs out there, but I know how much Ralphie just loves those cheap assistants looking for their first shot... That might be fine too if the organization could actually choose the right one... Based on the track record, I'll remain skeptical...

We should really consider getting Ron Jawarski
Búfalo Blanco replied to Bufcomments's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
After reading that article, I think I've just about heard it all... There's really no hope left in Buffalo... Every straw has been grasped... -
Any semblance of respect I had left for the Redskins organization is gone now... Not that I had much respect for Snyder to begin with... What happened to rights in this country? Particularly in Capital DC? Not to mention people are being censored after PAYING to be there!!! I say go to the game with your signs, Redskins fans... RIOT!!! Give Snyder HELL!!!

Getting rid of Jauron using a Billboard is wrong
Búfalo Blanco replied to hamtenp's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My thoughts exactly... Also, Jauron along with every other guy vying for a head coaching job in the NFL know exactly what they are getting into... That is the nature of the job... You don't win, you get criticized and eventually you get fired... pure and simple... This is the pros, not pee wee league... If Jauron gets his feelings hurt because a billboard says to fire him, he should be in another profession. This job requires a very thick skin and when you don't produce, fans who pay their hard earned income to watch the crap product should be able to voice their opinions... or not show up... or stop buying merchandise. However they choose to protest... Believe me, Ralph gets the point and the billboard is directed at him... whether he will currently do anything about it or not, eventually (after the season perhaps) he cannot ignore it. If he does continue to ignore it, a billboard will be the least of his worries... -
I have never seen the fans this low!

More power to you for being an optimist... One of the things I used to love about this team was its resilience to adversity... But that left with the likes of Kelly and Flutie among others... This weekend, I assume we will defeat the Browns... They look like the worst team in the league, so we'd better hope we can beat them... and then all will be right with the optimists. Some will celebrate, saying "See, we're not that bad... told ya so.." Until we have to play the following week in the Jets den against Rex Ryan's defense... They will tee off on Edwards, assuming he's still starting... He could be killed in that game based on the blocking he's currently getting. Then we will be possibly 2-4 and already 0-3 in the division... Now, if you want to be optimistic, go for it... The statistics and logic are heavily stacked against you... and I'm a realist. I put my heart, soul and money into this team every year, only to have them rip my heart out, whether its on the last play of the game against Dallas and New England or they get smashed by a winless Dolphins team. I've had it with the "love it or leave it, true fan bulls***". If you want to tell me I'm not a "true fan" because I don't mindlessly follow his Lordship Wilson with eternal optimism waiting to be blessed by his salvation, then I tell you... that's not how it works. Go find a monarchy somewhere and become another minion. The mere fact that I am here writing a message should tell you I continue to support this team, though sometimes I wonder why. I along with countless others pay to support this team... and many of us are sick of the mediocrity... I will continue to voice my disdain until Wilson puts a winning product on the field or the team moves... They are in my blood... But I will not sit idly by while Wilson gladly takes our money and then shovels s*** into our mouths! -
How do you feel about the Bills plight?
Búfalo Blanco replied to Endzone Animal's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We haven't had a reason to feel good about this franchise since the Flutie days... As long as this team survives, I will support them... but I must say, this team is REALLY hard to support based on some of the decisions they've made... Its really amazing to me how much Wilson is willing to pay players, but when it comes to shelling out some extra bonus money for a reputable coach, Ralphie starts discount shopping... Here's another decision that boggles the mind... You have all of these skill position players at your disposal, so what do you do? Completely disassemble any semblance of a cohesive offensive line you already had... That's no knock on drafting Wood and Levitre... I applauded that. So why not draft a tackle as well? They decided to trade JP... OK, I hated that it had to happen, but I understand the circumstances were difficult with him. So REPLACE HIM!!! Walker going from RT to LT was one of the most piss poor decisions I've seen... and then they cut him since he can't play there? Jesus, move him back to RT... restructure his deal and make him a backup... ANYTHING! Hell, they could still pick him back up... Ultimately, they have weapons all over the place, but no time to get to them, a coach who will take exactly zero chances on anything and is a very poor gameday schemer, and a QB who refuses to or for some other reason cannot throw downfield and gets destroyed 6-8 times a game! I could go on with why this team sucks as everyone has on this board ad nauseam... But ultimately, this team needs to be blown up and completely rebuilt from the top down... Keep some of the talent sure, but Christ, bring in a few guys who know and have had some successful experience in the game. -
Regardless of what happens with DJ and TE
Búfalo Blanco replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Front Office (Actually, they should be called the back end) is to blame for all of this!!! Everything! Jason Peters wanted out because he understood what kind of ineptitude he was trapped in... You're the one who doesn't get it... There needs to be some accountability... This franchise has done nothing for a decade. All of that STARTS AT THE TOP... not at LT, not at QB, not at PK... And by the way, these clowns signing a veteran OT..? I mean a decent one? Almost laughable... They seem to think addition by subtraction is the best way... ala Langston Walker. No, they'll just stick with the status quo... I mean why not? The season tickets have been sold... That's all that is needed. -
He had a heart attack after that one??? Any true Bills fan would have a heart of steel by now... Everyone who has stayed loyal to this team since Norwood and the Music City Miracle don't have to worry about a weak heart...

When Should Jauron be fired?
Búfalo Blanco replied to YellowLinesandArmadillos's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Couldn't agree more and I've said as much several times... I think he's the right coach for Trent Edwards... Assuming Edwards has much life left with this team... I believe the kid has talent, he just needs the West Coast Offense. But it doesn't matter... Wilson will pay a player with a $40-$50 million contract... But paying a coach is too much to ask! After Schonert was fired, I predicted Jauron would get fired during the season and the reins would be handed to Alex Van Pelt. I'm sticking to that... I know some think Bobby April will be the replacement should Jauron get booted and I agree that he or Fewell should be... But knowing Wilson he'll consider a former player like Van Pelt to be a boost to fan morale and a bargain... -
I preface this by saying I think the season needs to play out and we, more than anything, need to see what James Hardy is made of. That said, we just re-signed McGee... There is no other major free agent on the roster after 2009, other than Owens. Why not franchise him for one year..? Assuming he doesn't agree to a deal anyway, this is a way to keep him. He gets a lot of guaranteed money, which for an older player is what he is looking for, and we get another year of T.O. keeping our offense dangerous, rather than one-dimensional. If nothing else, it is an option... Again, we don't know to this point how James Hardy or Steve Johnson will contribute... Consider every option at the end of the season and if T.O. is the best option, do what you can to keep him one more year... This may be a pipe dream with a franchise like Buffalo, but we never expected him to come here in the first place... I say keep T.O. one more year even if it means a lot of guaranteed money. It brought in season ticket sales this year... Why wouldn't it next year assuming he continues to open up the passing game...

You're absolutely correct... and I feel cheated being a long time ST customer and seeing all of these special deals going on around me... I'm going to call them back...
