Why are so many people assuming....
Búfalo Blanco replied to buffalo_bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Believe me, you "love it or leave it" types are just as annoying... Everything is so simple to you... So let me get this straight, we should get behind the team, shut up, and give our glorious leader Master Wilson our earnings with no questions asked..? No need to make the organization accountable, no indeed... There is a big difference between passion and optimism... Everyone who is posting here and watching this team has passion for the Bills, otherwise they wouldn't bother. The reason we are not all blindly optimistic is because we have followed this team over and over and seen the exact same tendencies... Recent history does not lie... This team has been subpar compared to actual playoff teams over the last decade.. Not horrible, mind you, but below-average... As usual, we as Bills fans get our hopes up hearing about interviews such as Cowher and Shanahan... or maybe, if not them, the top coordinator who is ripe for a HC gig... But when the press conference comes introducing our new team leader, we get names like Dick Jauron and Chan Gailey out of left field for the customary $3 million a year... They promise us successful schemes like the Cover-Two defense where they need to draft 3 DBs per year and midgets with speed... while neglecting vital areas like OT or DT... Or how about bringing the No-Huddle back? Yeah, that lasted... We're gonna sign T.O. for 1 year, but completely re-arrange the OL due to our lack of draft picks there and have Langston Walker play out of place at LT... Then, when we realize what everyone else already knows we'll cut him to save money. Forget that he could have gone back to RT... This is the type of logic we continue to deal with, but we should just shut up and be good fans and take it up the ass... sure... I'll tell you where I have a little optimism... Buddy Nix and Doug Whaley... Buddy seems to have been a good scout and did well helping AJ Smith in San Diego... They have a good track record in the draft... Hopefully, he will draft enough good players over the next couple of years, that Gailey won't be able to screw it up with his playcalling... However, Nix is 70 years old and has never been a GM, which takes more skills than just drafting players... We'll see... I'll continue to give my honest opinion on this team regardless of whether its "loyal" or not... Of course, that's not gonna do much in the way of influencing Ralph Wilson... Believe me, he could care less about our opinions... Where he starts listening is when his pocket book is affected... That's it... But I'll keep giving my opinion, regardless of whether he hears or not and regardless of the loyalists who follow blindly, thanks... -
Bills Free Agent strategy leaked...

How about former Georgia Tech players..? -
The Patriots have found a way to win the division and get into the playoffs for nearly a decade... Regardless of when or if Welker comes back, they won before he was even with them... If you actually look at their records over the last decade, which I explained, they are in contention every year, regardless of injuries, replacements, coaching vacancies... They've lost a lot year after year and continue to compete... One of the years they won the SB, they were the most injured team in the NFL... They will compete again in 2010... 5 years removed from the glory days? Brady has more wins than any active QB going into the 2010 season... I'd say he's still in his prime... If Elway can win the SB at 38 years old, I'd say Brady can too... He's already got 3... Glory days haven't ended with him... Somehow he keeps winning... But go ahead and perennially underestimate the Pats... As much as I hate that team, I've stated far more facts in the last 3 posts than you... Again, more facts for you... Belichick, as I stated before, likes veteran RBs (Dillion, Taylor)... LT is still a good receiver out of the backfield, much like Kevin Faulk, and is still an effective goal-line back... Its doubtful any team is going to give LT what he thinks he's worth, as many veteran FA RBs have found out... LT has plenty of money... What he wants is what all competitors want, that elusive SB ring... He's not going to go to Detroit or Cleveland for more money... He's going to go to a competitor so he can finally win a championship... You say what happened 5 years ago doesn't matter now. Well, the "dancing on the Chargers logo" happened over 3 years ago... Has LT come out and said he still hates the Patriots? Where's the evidence that he holds a grudge 3 years later..? And for an incident against a team he's no longer a part of? If he does, that's a looooong unhealthy hatred to still be holding onto... But please, show me the evidence that he hates them today... You've shown me SO much evidence based on your assumptions already... Again, as I said, perhaps he doesn't sign with the Pats... There are other SB contenders... Contenders are who he will be interested in.. But I'm sure the Pats will be in the running...
-
Boy that's a lot of assumptions... I would say them not having Welker in that playoff game may have been a big factor in their loss... and who says he can't come back? Many players have come back from ACL/MCL tears... ask our old RB Willis... Brady came back pretty well last year after a lot of people speculating his knee was continuously infected and his career was over... The Jets are going to take the crown, huh? They looked pretty good this past season and the Pats still won the division... You think Sanchez can't be figured out now that he's played for a year? Many QBs go through the sophomore slump after opposing coaches get tape on them and learn their tendencies... and I'd say Belichick is pretty good at that... Who says Thomas Jones has another year like that in the tank too... They rode him pretty hard... The Jets haven't won the division yet... The Pats have for how many years? Yeah, a disgruntled player who has been franchised... That's never happened... Seems like every time that player signs the tender and gets all that guaranteed money and the next season starts, they're just fine... Its just posturing as usual. Lets see... 5 years since a SB win... Forget that they won three... Yeah, since then they still went to the 2006 AFC Championship and went to the 2007 Super Bowl while undefeated... Hell, even without Brady the entire year in 2008 they still went 11-5 and became the 1st 11-win team since the expansion to a 12-team playoff in 1990 to not make the playoffs... Coordinators? Actually Bill O'Brien will call plays on offense and Belichick will call plays on defense.... I'd say his track record as a DC qualifies... We as Bills fans know all about that. Wait? You mean Belichick has won a SB as a DC? Well surely he can't do it now... He's never been to the SB in any capacity... Ya know, Belichick will never be able to pull it off based on his history, but, boy, Chan Gailey sure will doubling up on the duties here... You can continue to base your argument off of assumptions if you like... Welker will never come back, New England's Super Bowl days are over, LT probably hates the Patriots, the Jets will assume the AFC East crown... I was merely speculating on where LT would go to begin with and gave a sound argument as to why I think New England is a very possible landing spot... But you've rewritten the definition here on assumption and speculation where the AFC East/Patriots are concerned... Why don't you put up a valid argument with some real facts, eh..?
-
I'm merely speculating on places I think he will go... and apparently I'm not the only one in this thread who thinks NE may be a top option for him. Perhaps he'll go somewhere else... Who knows? What I'd like to know is what makes you think the Patriots can no longer contend for a Super Bowl..? I hate them as much as the next Bills fan, but they still continue to win the division year in and year out... and as long as Brady, Moss, Welker, Wilfork and Belichick among others are there, they will be able to challenge anyone in the AFC. What, you think LT won't go there because the Pats danced on the Charger logo a couple years ago? Gimme a break... Old grudges don't play into business decisions... Also, Belichick has a history of bringing in good, veteran RBs... Corey Dillion? Fred Taylor? History says this is the type of guy Belichick could go after....
-
+1 I predicted this during last season with some friends... and I still think Belichick has the best chance of signing him...
-
Really? Where's the link to this info? Based off the reaction from big-time coaches in coming here, landing any big free agents could be impossible...

Didn't you know this is one of those "love it or leave it" forums??? Every decision this organization makes turns to gold...

Hey if anybody can, he has the track record... But replacing Peyton Manning? Thats a tall order... -

Fans sometimes don't appreciate the teams they have until its over... I'm sure once Peyton Manning, Reggie Wayne and Dallas Clark retire or leave in FA, Indy fans will realize what they once had... -
Yeah, cause nobody on this board ever tells us what we should and shouldn't talk about.... No, that never happens... Major is the first...

Bills offer assistant GM to Doug Whaley
Búfalo Blanco replied to shaker4187's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Mmmkay, well based on what I'm reading, I'm warming up more to the Buddy Nix hiring... and Whaley looks like a potentially excellent asst. and possible future GM replacement... I'm still not sold on Gailey, but we'll see who the DC hire is... -

Meh... a realistic starter..? Sorry, but the likes of Brandon Marshall or Anquan Boldin? That's a pipe dream with the Buffalo Bills... Realistically, like others have said, it will probably be a training camp competition against Steve Johnson and James Hardy... Unless, we can possibly bring in a Kevin Walter type... but I doubt it. I have a feeling the Bills will sign free agents at other positions of need... As good as signing a big time, sexy FA WR or trading for one might sound, I think T.O. was it... and really, he was only to sell tickets for a season.
-
I like your style... Taylor may not be necessary, but if they could get him without spending too much he's a great second string back...
-
I used to call in to that show... and met Felser and Murphy with Carucci once... Based off of the times I've spoken with Larry Felser, character-wise, he is a very nice person. As far as his comments/articles on the team, I've always found his opinion to be right more than not and he does seem to deeply care for the organization. Nobody's perfect... but his articles are usually a good (sometimes great) read...
-
This looks like the most realistic scenario, although I hope they draft or sign a FA OT to compete with Butler for RT... That way, if Butler loses the job, they can keep him as a backup T/G... Then draft, as you said, a LT to compete with Bell and hope Wood can come back from that horrific injury. All in all, getting two strong T prospects or free agents and re-signing FA Incognito should be enough, assuming all these guys come back fine from injuries...

Jim Bates to interview for DC position
Búfalo Blanco replied to Tortured Soul's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hey no need for the lecture man... I understand the incestuous nature of the NFL... Like I said, about par for the course... The Bucs demote the man before the season is over... He's perfect for us!!!! I think I said the same thing about KC DC Pendergast in another thread (in case we switch to the 3-4). KC OC Gailey is relieved of duties before the season and DC Pendergast is demoted afterward... These guys could fit right in here!!! -

I said this guy would probably be our pick in a thread last night... Sounds about par for the course at this point... -
Bills on NFL Network about moving
Búfalo Blanco replied to RLflutie7's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Obviously for the fans in Buffalo, the franchise moving away would be devastating... For a Bills fan like me who lives in Los Angeles (if this was their destination), it would be a nightmare as well... Great that L.A. finally has another team, but it happens to be the one that I've rooted for most of my life? Talk about irony... -

Búfalo Blanco replied to Steely Dan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Dan, Great work man... Some excellent FA potential out there... Obviously, we could use people at several positions, but there are some really great options at obvious need positions for the Bills... OT, DE, DT and OLB I'd be ecstatic if they pulled off signing a guy like Wilfork or Peppers... That may be a pipe dream, but adding just one or two of these type of players (assuming they stay healthy) could make a big difference... -
The wrong Guy has been let go......

Yeah, that means he should be able to spend about 4 beans worth...
