  1. 6 weeks for Poz I can handle. Too bad our bye week wasn't earlier.
  2. On Kelsay: This might sound terrible, but is anyone actually distressed by this? It will force Jauron to give Ellis and Maybin some time. I wouldn't mind seeing Spencer Johnson line up at DE either. Though the injuries to Poz and Kelsay make the releases of Thomas and Bryan look questionable. Though I will say, Kelsay was getting pressure on Brady in the 1st quarter. On Maybin: Linebacker is not a position you can just throw someone into because of the coverage that is required. Maybin probably is agile enough to cover a TE, but I wouldn't like to see him defending a slot receiver like Welker or a pass catching RB . Maybin is versatile but in a really weird way. He is undersized for a DE, but oversized for a linebacker. Also, if he were to be a linebacker, he would fit in most easily in a 3-4, not in a 4-3. Not sure what to do about Poz's absence, is there a definite timetable on him yet? My guess is he won't be back until week 9 or 10, but I hope someone proves me wrong. Once again proves that Bills need to step up their activity in the free agent market. Once you get passed the starting 11, our depth is very inexperienced and raw. Talented? Probably. But, absolutely no veterans.
  3. Typical. I didn't say the Bills played poorly, but the Patriots were not on their A game. And the Bills could have played better. You have to face reality. The Bills played their hearts out, I have no qualms with that. And they were very well prepared. They deserved to win. But the Patriots were guilty of stupid penalties, a terrible INT, a bunch of dropped passes and a non-existent running game. But they still put up double the yards we did and owned us in time of possession. You cannot beat the Patriots if they win time of possession battle.
  4. Bills realized they are going to be running a lot of 2 TE fronts to help the line. Could be good or bad, but if they are going to have 7 on the line they better hope Nelson can catch passes in the slot.
  5. They better be running a lot of 2 TE formations. Though I think I would rather have TO blocking on the line than Nelson...
  6. Definitely hit the nail on the head. Nothing really left to say, other than hoping by some miracle that Trent Edwards turns out to be capable and Van Pelt runs a Jim Kelly type offense. Its RW's team and the man is a legend but is in over his head when it comes to competing in the 21st century. He's running the Bills like this is still 1990. Times have changed.
  7. Tim, Releasing Rhodes and Walker....firing the OC....all a week before MNF against the Patriots. What is going on in Orchard Park? The depth at two positions of great importantance have been diminished. Unless there is a counter-move, I am a little incredulous.
  8. None of these moves make sense without a proper counter-move. This is to the point of embarrassment. The only reason this makes sense w/o another player being acquired is to save money. Neither Rhodes nor Walker were keeping anyone extremely special off the 53 man roster. And both Rhodes and Walker would at the very least provide some crucial veteran depth at extremely important positions. I would think that Walker would at least have pushed Butler for a job at RT. What happens if Bell gets injured? What happens if Jackson gets injured? Ugh. The Bills.
  9. Extremely delusional. Fitzgerald was the third overall pick and is a freak of nature. Come on now.
  10. Tim, What is the background on the Turk firing? Any thoughts on why this didn't happen at the end of last season? Or after the Packers game? It seems rather bold of the Bills to do 10 games before the Patriots. Perhaps it had something to do with preseason failure of the no-huddle. And finally, any thoughts on what difference Alex Van Pelt will make? Is Jauron now on the hot seat with Edwards soon to follow?
  11. Two OC's would be a disaster on par with the GM situation. Regardless, I appreciate Jauron taking the blame. Though, the fact that he had to call Wilson to initiate this is beyond me if true. Ralph should have been breathing down Jauron's neck. Few Points after reading the quotes: 1) If it was in fact Jauron's call, he clearly is saving his ass. 2) Same schemes? If we are having Evans run out routes for the next 10 weeks not much is going to change. 3) Jauron is next on the hot seat with Edwards soon after...
  12. I don't think the league has lost its soul because of that. Players don't perform they get cut. Same goes for coaches. Regardless, it does show the dysfunction of the Bills in terms of the management. A few quick points: 1) This should have happened a year ago. 2) Not sure how this makes a difference considering Van Pelt is going to essentially run the same schemes, though the situational play calling will be different. The team will still run the same lame plays. 3) Maybe Ralph is making a point. Maybe he isn't. I give him credit for trying to shake things up before the regular season starts. It was necessary. But, I think this points to the larger point that Ralph has NEVER accepted. Good coaches cost money. Ralph is an old school guy and has always had a problem paying certain positions more than he believes they should be paid. Its not even an idea of who the person is. Ralph simply will never pay a GM or a coach the kind of money that those positions demand in this day and age. No? Prove me wrong.
  13. Why has the league lost its soul? I'm lost on this one.
  14. Yea I agree with that completely. That was my main argument about how you can't call him a bust is when you look at the TD's rookies were putting up, Hardy put up a decent amount in comparison. Also (and I am only 100% on this), but I believe we only threw 13 passing TD's last year. Losman threw 2 and Edwards threw 11. 2 TD's is 1/6th of what we threw so...
  15. You can't judge Hardy until next season bc of the injury. It just stupid to call a rookie WR a bust after one year.
  16. Maybin has played two preseason games and already has as any sack as Kelsay had in 16 regular season games last year. Thank god.
  17. Maybe this has been posted, but this is from Fannation (sorry, forgot to provide the link) "The Buffalo Bills had better start fast on offense this year because, from what I hear, the patience level is not very high for offensive coordinator Turk Schonert. Shut out in the first half in Pittsburgh and totaling four first downs going into the fourth quarter is not going to make people feel confident about the offense." He'll be the first to go. When will they realize that top NFL coaches require top dollar? In reference to Edward's quotes, I agree that this has the forebodings of a dilemma. If the Bills are 0-3 going into the 4th week, and that is not so far fetched of an idea, you are going to see and hear from a team who wants a new coach. What I find interesting is that if you look at Jauron's quotes, he is kind of calling out the offense, specifically the QB. This back and forth cannot end well.
  18. Unless Edwards doesn't have any time to throw, there is no reason he should be failing this badly.
  19. Maybin has a sack? Sick, can someone give me a heads up on how he is playing?
  20. Most interesting part of that article is the general lack of optimism the coaches have about Maybin's abilities as of now. Maybe they were just showing their frustration from the hold out, but it was a bit worrisome to read Fewell's comments. I think Maybin's success is going to depend on just how athletic he is. If he can play a hybrid Linebacker/ DE type position, he is going to be fine. But, at his size, if he thinks he can line up against Jake Long w/o getting mauled, there are going to be a lot of angry Bills fans. I was a fan of that Maybin pick at the time because Orakpo reminded me too much of Gholston. However, I was and continue to be surprised that the Bills would continue to build their defense with undersized players.
  21. “There’s a reason why they play in Pro Bowls,” said Jauron. “They’re talented. We just had one of those nights where we weren’t hitting on all cylinders. You have them sometimes and you’ve just got to work through them.” This could have been a Jauron quote from any game the Bills lost over the past 3 seasons. It was from last night talking about the Packers CB's.
  22. I agree with GoBills. This isn't an issue of winning or losing games, its an issue of preparedness on the field. When your starters consistently get demolished by the same scheme, there is an issue that goes beyond the talent on the field.
