  1. What are the realistic names? Can we start a list? Free Agents: Mark Sanchez Brian Hoyer Matt Moore Christian Ponder (pretty gross list) Via Trade (based purely on who may be available) Matt Ryan (longshot) Jay Cutler Colin Kaepernick Kirk Cousins Who are we missing? I think there will be discussions about the Bills trading for Kaepernick and Cutler for most of the offseason. But my hunch is that they go with Hoyer or Sanchez.
  2. Thoughts on Rex - - In a lot of ways, he is the best possible candidate for the Bills. I'm not saying he's the perfect candidate, but given where the Bills are at - I think he is the best head coach that the Bills could have hired. - This is a franchise that needs a jolt. It needs someone to come in and make the franchise believe, from the players on down. Someone who shares the same chip on his shoulder that the fanbase and players have. Rex will do that. - A lot of people are comparing the current state of the Bills to the Jets. Which is nuts. The Bills have a much more talented roster. - Schwartz is a great coach who had a good year - but lets not over credit him. The Bills defense is stacked. It would take a pretty bad coach to come in and blow it with the Bills defense. If he goes - I won't lose sleep. Greg Roman is the more important hire. Anyways - i think this is a big moment for the Bills. Its the first time that they have actually decided to pony up for a head coach in sometime.
  3. That move is called: -Whaley and Marrone are about to have new bosses, so might as well go for broke. -Lets give this franchise a super star. Someone that gets on the cover of magazines. But losing the 1st around pick in next year's draft is pretty brutal bc this team might need a QB.
  4. Best part about what the Bills did in FA is it allows them to draft an offensive playmaker with the first pick. Yea, they could always go OL. But I think they go big and look for someone that can help EJ out. And look for a Guard in the 2nd round. Or maybe a RT. I just hope they stay away from Safety. They have bigger needs. Evans or Ebron.
  5. I bet if you polled most fans on this website about if they'd prefer Marrone or Pettine as Head Coach of the Bills - they'd take Pettine by a huge margin. And truthfully, I'd go with Pettine too.
  6. So the Bill's passing offense involves 3 throws. 1) A screen/check down to running back 2) a 8 yard pass over the middle 3) a 40 yard bomb I really, really, really hope that is the result of a bad Offensive Coordinator not knowing how to make a rookie QB effective and not another QB the Bills drafted who simply cannot make NFL throws.
  7. For all those saying that only one QB will be drafted in the first round or that the Bills won't go QB..... Our GM just said he thinks there are 2-3 franchise QBs in the draft. And he's stated for awhile that this is the year for the Bills to find their QB. I think the chances are pretty good the Bills go QB.
  8. Also. Bills had a chance to change the culture and find a legitimate football coach with fresh ideas. And they went back to the recycling bin, hiring another guy who coached himself out of the NFL. And then he goes on to hire a defensive coordinator who coached himself out of the league. Its just bad news. SF is a good team, but after this long, the Bills should have been rebuilding to a point whereupon they can compete with any team in the league. Once again - this franchise is simply unable to play with the best teams. They just get trounced. Watch out for a brutal 2nd half if they start slow.
  9. I'm high on Gilmore. Part of it is trusting Buddy (even though I've been hard on him at times, he knows how to draft), the other part of it is that he has had a long track record of success. Just because the Bills missed on Whitner and McKelvin does not mean that every DB they draft will be a bust. Note that McKelvin played in the Sun Belt Conference, which as we all know, is no where near as strong as the SEC. Also, McKelvin only started his junior and senior year. In fact, a lot of his succes and recognition came from being a great kick-off/punt returner. That definitely played a role in inflating his value. Gilmore, on the other hand. He started his entire caeer and played against the top competition in college football week in and week out. That, to me, is important.
  10. I'm not a fan of DBs, but that is due mainly to the failure of the Bills to pick them successfully. In terms of value, good CBs are right up there with left tackles in terms of how hard they are to find. It will be said at nauseum, but its a passing league. I don't know enough about Gilmore to have an informed opinion about him, but I do know that McKelvin does not = Gilmore and Whitner did not = Barron. We'll see what happens. It seems clear to me that the Bills plan on getting to the QB and expect opposing offenses to make quick, short passes..which is why they took a physical corner who is good at pressing. We'll see. But he was probably the BPA unless the Bills wanted a DT.
  11. I love how everyone is making it seem like all of these rumors contradict each other. The situation is likely this: 1) Buddy knows how badly the Vikings want out of 3. He also knows that Kalil likely won't make it to 10 should the Vikings pick someone else. 2) While some, in recent weeks, have speculated that Kalil is not a top 10 talent, the large majority disagrees. Mayock, Lombardi, etc., all have him as a top 4 players. Point being, no matter how in love the Bills are w/ Barron/Gilmore, Kalil will be higher on their boards. 3) Buddy said on the chat that there is a "no brainer" pick at 10 but he doesn't know if he'll be there. Well, Barron and maybe even Gilmore are likely to be available. To me that is Kalil all day. 4) My point about how these rumors do not conflict. Saying that the Bills are high on Barron/Gilmore at 10 clearly doesn't mean they wouldn't be higher on certain players that will likely be off the board before the Bills are on the clock. I think they are fairly confident that Kalil won't fall to 10. They are also fairly confident that the Vikings are happy to pass on the kid. So..it makes sense to offer a 2nd round pick in order to get a franchise LT. Everyone knows how hard it is to find a franchise LT. They aren't available in free agency and they are rarely available via trade. The only way to acquire a good one is in the draft. Kalil is clearly the better player than both Gilmore and Barron. And I'd be more than happy w/ the pick if they trade up.
  12. Starting to think its Barron/Gilmore. Sounds more and more like Kuechly is much better as MLB (mic) than he is on the outside. While Buddy has said he can play all 3 positions, others have said that he wouldn't be anywhere near as good as a strong side linebacker. Interesting situation. As for the DBs. On one hand, Barron is probably the better player, so if the Bills are drafting by the BPA logic, he gets the nod. On the other hand, Bills are very high Searcy. And in the same way that they're high on Sheppard which discounts their interests in Kuechly, I think their faith in Searcy could mean Gilmore is the pick. I know Byrd is a FA next season, but he's a FA the Bills can and likely will try and keep. McKelvin, McGee and Florence on the other hand will all likely be out the door. Final opinion? If it comes down to Gilmore/Barron, I think Barron is the guy bc Buddy is going to want the BPA.
  13. Hahaha. I can't believe GMs are doing this kind of thing, but its interesting. Btw, the guy who he has as a no brainer at 10 has to be Kalil or Gilmore. Sounds like a definite no on WRs.
  14. Cosell is legit. Interesting to see he has Floyd ahead of Blackmon.
  15. Not much effort in doing these mocks.
  16. Link For what its worth, above is the latest PFT mock. Again, I think most of this is speculation. I could see DK being the pick if he's there, and having two big, young, imposing CBs (Williams/Kirkpatrick) has to have the Bills salivating a bit. Especially given their pass rush and the fact that (as we have heard at naseum) the NFL is now a passing league. My issue is that there is a big drop off after Floyd in terms of impact WRs. A lot of people claim this is a "deep draft" for WRs. Maybe. But how many of these guys can step in and play right away? Outside of Floyd and Blackmon, I'm not sure. I'm all for shoring up the defense. Kuechly/Kirkpatrick would be great additions. But the shortcomings on offense need to be addressed.
  17. Love to know why he thinks Barron is needed by the Bills instead of another Alabama DB.
  18. I say Floyd because he will be the most talented guy on the board when the Bills pick. Second choice will be Glenn, but I simply don't think Buddy will reach on anyone, whether we need a LT or not. They'll likely have a shot at a highly rated OT/LB in the second round.
  19. Interesting. Problem is, Kalil will inevitably require next year's first round pick. I know he's good, but I don't know if he is worth two first rounders. I can't imagine Buddy trading away future 1st rounders for anything but a QB. Schefter has us taking Reiff. Maybe. I just have a tough time seeing it. I've been a big proponent of Floyd, but Buddy/Gailey seem to pick WRs/OTs later in the draft, so in terms of history, its a toss up. At least Floyd would justify a #10 pick. Reiff will go in the 1st round, but if he skips pass the Bills he is going to fall a ways.
  20. Link Not that impressive of a mock (in the sense that the insight is minimal..I could get this mock off of this message board, we don't even need SI). That being said, Banks has Reiff * (sorry, had written Martin..brain fart) coming to the Bills. Originally, I was all in on the Bills drafting an LT. Convinced of it. But that was before I found out more about Martin and Reiff. Seems like both of these guys are poised to fall into the mid/late 1st. Hard to envision either being worth a top 10 pick. Plus, Buddy has demonstrated that he simply will not reach based on need. That makes me even more convinced the pick won't be one of the LTs. I could easily see Floyd being the guy, but I could just as easily see a CB/Upshaw being the pick. It will simply be the best player on the board that can help the team. If that means Hairston and a 2nd round LT will be fighting for the starting job; so be it. Btw, whats up with Bell? Still on the market, huh?
  21. I changed my mind. I originally thought LT all the way until I read more about the LTs. The only one that seems worth a top 10 pick is Kalil, who simply won't be there for us. So I'm with Joe Buscaglia, I think the Bills go Floyd if he's there. To me, it boils down to whether the Bills want to go into next season with the same set of WRs as last year, or the same OL as last year. And when you look at it that way, its clear that the offensive line is way more talented than the WR corp. I could see Hairston and a 2nd round LT competing for the starting spot. And you never know. If Bell's value drops to a more reasonable level, he might come back. Having both the D line and O line secure before the draft is a huge asset.
  22. +1. Didn't realize that Anderson is not a 4 down rusher and more of a speciality player. If so, Kelsay will probably be around. It will be interesting to see if anyone else is gone outside of Kelsay. Another name to keep an eye on is Troup, as he was drafted to be NT.
  23. That's a pretty great D-Line. Lets hope everyone stays healthy.
  24. The more I think about it, the more I think Kelsay and Edwards are the odd men out. Could be wrong bc as everyone has said, Nix and Gailey like him. But this is Wanny's defense and Kelsay's cap number is going to be tough to swallow.
