So-so? Depends on who you ask I guess... Named All-America Third Team by Associated Press, and Honorable Mention by Sports Illustrated … First Team All-SEC by Associated Press, ESPN.com, and SEC Coaches… Keep in mind Glenn started 50 Games in his Georgia career and NEVER missed a Game due to injury...He was also an Offensive Captain... He's plenty athletic (5.15 40 @340 lbs...), and strong (31 reps @225)...He may very well be quicker and lighter on his feet if he drops a few lbs...I don't see any reason why he needs to be 340 lbs at LT...And if he's a little lighter it should help his explosiveness off the line... Anyway...Just me, but I don't see Glenn as a so-so prospect at all...I think he's go HUGE upside...And I think he's the exact-type LT prospect Buddy loves...

Again? This was debated a TON in 2010 I think...

Decastro at because no other picks would have his impact
KOKBILLS replied to 26TrapDraw's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nor should he...This idea that DeCastro would have a bigger impact than other possible picks at #10 is ridiculous...First off he's never played a Down in the NFL...That goes without saying...Secondly, TEAMS win Super Bowls...Not O-Lines, D-Lines, Secondaries...etc...TEAMS...The Bills may be deeper from G to G than any other area...Are Wood, Levitre, Urbik, and Reinehart Pro-Bowlers? Not necessarily (Wood likely is if he plays 16 games)...Are they a solid unit that plays well together and executes well? Absolutely... The Bills have glaring needs elsewhere...They basically have no #2 WR...They are planning on starting Kirk Morrison at OLB...They need another CB...They need a swing OT for depth minimum, preferably someone to compete with Hairston for the starting LT spot...All these, and a couple more, come before OG...Heck even ex NFL OG Jamie Dukes says he would NEVER take an OG at the top of the Draft...And that's coming from an OG!!! Some positions are WAY tougher to fill...OG is at the bottom of the tough-to-fill list... It would not be a smart move for any Team to take an OG at #10 IMHO...I just don't think there is that much of a drop-off from a Pro-Bowl OG to a good, or very good one...But especially this year for The Bills...A year that they are trying to move into contention and fill out a winning Roster...It would be a HUGE mistake to waste that #10 overall pick on a lineman that can't play OT...A HUGE mistake... And PLEASE don't give me the Levitre can move out to OT for depth crap...He's not a LT...In emergency OK...But otherwise, not even close... -
I'd rather see Glenn and Jeffery if The Bills go WR in the 2nd... I like Sanu...But I don't think he's a high 2nd Round Prospect...I would be more comfortable with a CB in the 2nd, and Sanu in the 3rd... Agree 100%...Would LOVE to see Glenn and Jeffery in Buffalo...

Why I think we must go OT in the 1st round
KOKBILLS replied to seq004's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thanks for that! I do agree that Glenn most fits Buddy's tendencies...In many ways actually...All-SEC LT does not hurt either... -
Exactly! Newton basically broke every Rookie QB record there was right? He was a ROOKIE...If he takes the next step he's going to be absolutely scary...

How do you view our draft needs?

Glenn started one year at LT and was All-SEC...Coaches and AP...He went up against the best competition in the Country for a year at LT and did pretty well...Plus he was an excellent OG before that... I really don't care much where others have him because I'm purely going off what I've seen of Glenn, Martin, and Reiff...And my evaluation is based on who I think is going to be the better Pro LT...Nothing else...I feel like Glenn is going to be the better NFL LT...I don't think Reiff is a LT whatsoever...Martin will be in time...But I think Martin is going to struggle a bit, especially early in his career, because he's not a great athlete and he's not a huge guy either...I admit I may be a bit higher on Glenn than some...But he's a massive guy with good feet, good strength, excellent wing-span, and a HUGE upside...He's the type of player Buddy Drafts at OT...He would provide depth everywhere along the O-Line... Like I've said before...I would rather the Bills NOT take an OT at #10...But if they do, I hope it's Glenn...
-
That would be picture-perfect would it not?
-
The Bills are not going to Trade up...They need picks... And I'd rather have Cordy Glenn than Reiff or Martin...I think Glen is going to end up being the best LT outside of Kalil...I'm not sure Reiff will ever play LT in the NFL...And Martin is possibly a year or two away...Plus...Glenn can give you experienced Depth anywhere along the line...

He was asked about this exact thing at his Pro Day by Mike Mayock...He basically said "Never again...I'm staying at this weight (213)..." The Scouts concerns may be legit...But...Who the heck does NOT love to eat?...

Why I think we must go OT in the 1st round
KOKBILLS replied to seq004's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think you misunderstood what I was asking... I was not asking where Hairston would go this year coming out of College again...I was asking where he would go this year knowing he started 7 games at LT in the NFL, and looked alright doing so...Knowing what you NOW know about him...Where would he go compared to this bunch coming out...Because regardless of what anybody thinks of Hairstons future at LT, he WAY overachieved as a Rookie based on where he was Drafted... I think he would be a 1st Round Pick now...Maybe late 1st...But 1st nonetheless...I really do... -
You have to stand pat sometimes...When Freddie got hurt he was 3rd in the NFL in Rushing...Fitz was one of the least Sacked QB's in the NFL...The Bills O-Line is not perfect...But they are 4 deep (plus Jasper) from OG to OG, and they have GLARING needs elsewhere including LT, OLB, CB, and WR... Taking an OG at #10 would be worse than taking a RB at #8 when you already have 2 RB's on the Roster with Pro-Bowl potential... Oh wait...

"We’re going to draft a tackle if we can. If there’s one there is what I mean. If there’s one we think can play we’re going to draft a tackle. You can never have too many tackles. This could be an exception, you can have exceptions to this but it’s easier to move a guy from tackle to guard than it is from guard to tackle, obviously. We draft tackles and we are at pretty good shape at guard and center." Buddy Nix

I'll 2nd that!!!

Totally 100% agree! Glenn is just blooming as a Player and an athlete...That kid is massive and he's REAL light on his feet considering...He played one year at LT, but there's no reason he can't develop into a REAL good one...With NFL Coaching and conditioning we're talking about a potential monster here...Almost 6-6 and over 340 lbs. and he runs a 5.15...Great feet, good balance...He seems like a good humble person as well in interviews...I think the sky is the limit for this kid...To me he's as good a prospect as Anthony Davis was a few years ago...And Glenn went against WAY tougher competition in College...Davis went #11 Overall and has started at LT for the 49ers ever since...Don't see why Glenn can't do the same... I've been saying all along if The Bills take an OT at #10 it's got to be a kid they feel can beat out Hairston...I think Glenn has a chance...Reiff?...No way... Glenn Combine

That film vs. LSU was impressive...That's a hell of a good Defense and some great prospects he was going against...he made it look easy at times...Showed great balance...Kept his feet under him...That game showed he belongs with the big boys did it not?...Those dive blocks...at that size? That was pretty impressive...I'm like you...The idea of this kid is growing on me by the minute...And I agree he got better as the Season went on...That fact did not get by the Associated Press or The SEC Coaches who both made him 1st Team All-SEC...After watching more and more of Glenn I'm warming up to taking him at #10 overall...To me he is clearly a better option than Reiff, Martin, or Adams...I don't think it's even close... This is where it gets interesting...One would think The Bills will be looking to Trade Down if it's Glenn...But I'm betting after watching enough SEC Film Buddy is going to be convinced Glenn won't slide too far into Round #1...We'll see I guess...

Picks 7 through 10 a crap shoot just look at 2006-2011
KOKBILLS replied to shoretalk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well...We'll see...That's some MAJOR rarefied air though... Hutch is a 7 time ALL-Pro and 2 time Offensive Lineman of the Year in the NFL...He's Started 157 Games in 11 Season... We'll see where DeCastro rates in a decade... Go Blue!... -
Discussing Chris Hairston for a minute

Just a small thing...Fina was actually Drafted to be Ritcher's replacement at LG and was pushed over to LT when Wolford was stolen away... -
Why I think we must go OT in the 1st round
KOKBILLS replied to seq004's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree... But I don't always agree with Buddy...so... I think in the end, with me at least, I'm most concerned with Reiff...Because though I admit he's a decent mid-late 1st type of Prospect with good technique and smarts, I think physically and athletically he's peaked...And I think he's going to REALLY struggle at LT in the NFL...From what I see on his Film he's getting by on solid coaching, grit, and technique...That's vs. Big Ten competition...I think when he lines up across from the big boys in the NFL, he's going to get it handed to him at LT...And if that happens he does not have much room to grow athletically...Again this is JMO...But I see Reiff as a lousy value at #10 overall...Like I said, if they take a flyer I hope it's on Glenn... -
Why I think we must go OT in the 1st round
KOKBILLS replied to seq004's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Oh don't get me wrong...It's 100% certainty The Bills take a LT prospect by the end of the 4th Round...100%...I'm only questioning the value, after Kalil of course, at #10 overall...Especially where Reiff is concerned...IF they Draft an OT at #10 I'd rather see them take a flyer on Glenn to be honest...But that's a sizable gamble too...If they could somehow Trade Down, pick up an extra pick or two, and still grab Glenn I would love it...But at #10, I like Floyd, Gilmore, Kuechly, and maybe a couple more over any of these OT's not named Kalil... -
Why I think we must go OT in the 1st round
KOKBILLS replied to seq004's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
And that's Buddy's opinion... Seriously though, start as a Rookie 2-3 seems right...Be effective starting as a rookie?... -
It's funny, but I think The Bills will REALLY like Glenn because he's going to remind them a bit of Hairston...He's a HUGE man who has better feet than you would expect...I'm not in favor of Drafting any of these OT's not named Kalil at #10 overall...I don't think there is good value there...But in a Trade Down scenario I would LOVE to snag Glenn...I think he's going to be a better Pro than Reiff, Adams, or Martin...I think he would push Pears, or one of the OG's big-time as a Rookie, and add MUCH need OT depth...

Why I think we must go OT in the 1st round
KOKBILLS replied to seq004's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed! Like I've said a million times now, Hairston is being WAY undervalued by everyone...He could not have come into a worse situation last season as a Rookie (no off-season, no mini camps, hurt in training camp, pushed in to START at LT for several games), and he came out looking pretty good...They say players improve more from their 1st to 2nd season than any other year...So I have a feeling Hairston is going to make another HUGE step in 2012...And he'll have to, for sure... Plus, where would he go NOW in THIS Draft? I think he might be a 1st Round Pick in this Draft...Knowing what we know now...Just saying...
