Ultimate Warrior Dead at age of 54
KOKBILLS replied to LikeIGiveADarn's topic in Off the Wall Archives
My All Time favorite wrestler... Very saddened to hear this... RIP Warrior...You were one of a kind... -
I completely agree with this take...But more importantly I think Whaley and Marrone agree...The team needs balance...They need to be able to sustain drives and run more effectively, especially when the opposing Defense knows they want to run it...They need to keep adding weapons and blockers...A couple more sustained drives in each game last year and the results would have been surprisingly different...We're close on Defense, especially with the additions this off season...We need to get better on Offense around EJ so we can figure out if he's going to be the answer long-term...That's why I believe the Bills would prefer to upgrade the RT position first and foremost...If they can't do that at #9 I think they look to trade down, or they just go ahead and take Ebron...

There is way more to these stories than what you just sighted...And despite what we all may want to believe the truth probably lies somewhere in the middle...In no way am I saying everything in all these links is true and factual...But it seems a bit far fetched to believe Lewan was 100% innocent of these things as well...Maybe he was...Maybe everyone is just picking on the 6-7-310 guy...Could be...It happens... http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/The-red-flag-report-Taylor-Lewan.html http://www.washtenawwatchdogs.com/4/post/2013/08/the-cover-up-of-the-arrest-of-university-of-michigan-football-player-brendan-gibbons-for-rape.html http://www.mlive.com/news/ann-arbor/index.ssf/2014/01/brendan_gibbons_was_arrested_i.html http://thebiglead.com/2014/02/25/michigan-faces-federal-investigation-over-brendan-gibbons-rape-allegation-response/ http://ohiostate.247sports.com/Article/Michigans-Lewan-Accused-Of-Assault-167623

Why the Bills should not pass on Khalil Mack
KOKBILLS replied to Bull Run's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think there is a growing chance Mack could slide to #9 based on team needs...It obviously has nothing to do with Mack as a prospect...But IF those 3 QB's go in the top 8, IF Mike Evans goes to Tampa, and IF Atlanta takes Matthews at #6, suddenly Mack falling to the Bills is a REAL possibility... I would expect the Bills to take Mack as well...It's obvious they like the kid a lot...Though I really question whether or not they want to take him based on what they need for this team in 2014...And I think if Mack is there at #9 some team is going to be willing to give up a pretty nice package to come up and get him...So that would be very interesting to see...It's a no-lose situation for the Bills if Mack falls into their lap... -
I hear you Kirby...Believe me there is nothing I would like more than to be able to fully endorse Lewan...But in good conscious I can't...Though I do believe he'll be just fine on the field...I only hope that if in fact the Bills take him he's learned his lessons and becomes someone you can trust off the field...
-
I've read just about everything there is to read about the two separate off-the-field issues concerning Lewan...And he has had some issues on the field with dirty play and penalties as well...No question the kid can be very special if he is able to mature...But if not, who knows what kind of trouble he can get in?...It's a really tough call IMHO...But more than anything...If in fact these assaults in which he has been formally charged with now actually happened...That means Lewan stood in front of every NFL team and the entire world at the Combine and lied through his teeth...That possibility bothers me more than anything...I just have doubts about the kids character...He talks a great game...But there's some serious smoke here...And you know the saying...

one more nonsensical draft thought
KOKBILLS replied to jumbalaya's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I could end up being wrong no question...But I just don't see the Bills Drafting a LB high...They signed two LB's in free agency, and NFL teams are only playing one or two LB's on almost 60% of Defensive downs...Lawson and Bradham are back-ups now...And Whaley seems to be high on Ty Powell...A Rookie LB is not going to play much at all barring a serious injury...And even though Spikes is only signed for a year using a 1st round pick in case he moves on does not seem to be the smartest way to build a roster IMHO...I'm not against Drafting a LB, I'd just rather it was a mid round pick... -
IMHO Lewan will be there...It all depends on how the Bills view his off-the-field stuff...I've been pretty vocal about my worries concerning Lewan...I should just shut up about it... ...And I am a 20 plus year Michigan fan...There is no question in my mind that Lewan could be a very special OT...I think he's a bit more athletic version of Nate Solder (And that's a good thing btw)...But the off the field stuff with him simply does not sit well with me...I can't even give you a definitive reason because it goes beyond the stories and what he's been charged with...I want to, but I just don't trust him I guess...It's just a weird feeling I get about him...I kind of get an Incognito vibe...But admittedly that could be just me...And if the Bills take Lewan I will be hoping beyond hope that he enjoys great success on and off the field...We'll see I guess...

Martin's arm length is really not that bad...Apparently he was mismeasured at one point before the Combine and it started this whole issue about short arms...His arm length is really not bad at all considering he's 6-4...Martin's reach is 32 7/8"...Lewan is 3 inches taller and has an inch longer reach (33 7/8")...Matthews is 6-5 1/2 and has a 33 3/8" reach...So anyway...I don't like Martin at #9 either...But in a trade down I think he's a viable option...He's a very solid player and a big-time character guy...I think he'll do well at RT...He's just a solid football player...
-
He shouldn't...But he may if all 3 QB's go top 8, and Mike Evans goes #7 to Tampa...Of course that's assuming Clowney, Robinson, Watkins, and Mack also go top 8... If the three QB's and Evans go top 8 then either Mack or Matthews slides to #9... I still think at the end of the day Robinson is going to be the best player from this entire Draft...And I do think he has Orlando Pace potential...He's a nasty dude...

While I don't necessarily disagree with you about Barr, some scouts had serious questions about Maybin's ability to set the edge and play the run when he came out...I remember Mike Mayock doing a segment on "Path To The Draft" showing film of Maybin vs. the run...Mayock pointed out Maybin's inconsistency playing the run, and said despite the fact that he knew some teams had Maybin high on their boards he personally had a 2nd round grade on him...I'll never forget that because it's the first thing I thought of when the Bills Drafted Maybin at #11 overall... I'm not hearing the exact same things about Barr...It's more about his inexperience than his inability...I heard a lot about Maybin's inabilities before his Draft...I think the similarities are what the two players do well...Both were very good edge rushers in College...And both have long, thinner frames...I think also that Barr was asked to do a little more pure OLB-type assignments than Maybin was in College...Which should help him make the jump easier...But I don't think Barr is a DE in any way, shape, or form...He's going to have to play OLB no matter what team or scheme he goes to...And I think as far as the Bills are concerned, already having Hughes and Lawson makes it very unlikely he will be the Bills target...But we'll see soon enough...
-
A little speculation...I'm thinking the Bills realized somehow, someway, that their #1 target, Mike Evans, was not going to get by Tampa...I'm unsure if it was during the Williams inquiries, or before them...If it was before, that could be what led them to asking about Williams...Anyway...The Bills decided to protect themselves with Williams and that likely shifts their attention at #9 to an OT...Murph hinted to this point tonight on his show...It's not hard to see the Bills have shifted gears here a bit...Reading between the lines, it's looking like OT in the 1st... I don't think there is any doubt that either Matthews or Lewan will be available at #9...It seems to be a given that Lewan will be there...I'm guessing Matthews is the Bills preference, but they'll settle for Lewan...I'm still not crazy about Lewan off-the-field...I have serious reservations about him, and I'm a Michigan fan...But on the field I have no doubt he will be a significant upgrade from Pears at RT from day #1...And in time Lewan could be very special...He's got all the tools to be a dominant NFL OT for years to come...From the first day he takes the field in the NFL he will be one of the best athletes at the OT position in the entire league...If he can mature and be a good citizen it's a big get for the Bills... But anyway...I'm expecting the pick at #9 to be an OT now...I would not be at all surprised to see them trade down and take Zack Martin either...I know a lot of folks are assuming Martin moves inside...But he's never played OG...He could start off at RT then eventually move inside down the road if that becomes necessary...I would not bet against Martin though...I think he could be a very effective RT in the NFL...He's just a solid player...

If that was a crack about my weight I'll have you know I've been cutting back on the carbs big time...So...

Really? Mayock has been in and around the NFL game for over 30 years...He's a student...He's opinionated because that's what the NFL Network wants him to be...And yes, when you have strong opinions, and you're on National TV most every day, you open yourself up to scrutiny...But no one on this board spends the time evaluating and studying prospects the way Mayock does...No one spends countless hours talking to College Coaches, GM's, and Scouts the way Mayock does...You don't have to like him...But to disrespect what he does by comparing him to this rag-tag bunch we've had around here for the past 20 years or so years is ridiculous... No offense to the knowledgeable on this board of course...But come on... That's one heck of a limb you just ventured out on my friend...
-
Exactly...
-
I don't think at #9 it's much of a possibility...But in a trade down it's certainly possible...
-
Well... I can see Ebron at #9...But it depends on who went top 8...I don't think the Bills would take Ebron over the following players...Robinson, Matthews, Watkins, Evans, or Mack...And of course Clowney but he'll never be there... A couple notes...Not picking on you just giving my opinion as usual...Not that you asked for it... Anthony Barr is as much an NFL DE as I am right now...And I'm 5-9-185...Wide-9 or not, I don't think he's a fit at DE unless he fills out big-time...And even then I doubt it...He did 15 reps at the Combine...He's not physical enough yet to play DE...He's going to have some issues anchoring as a 3-4 OLB and that's his best fit... How is LG still a need? The Bills went out and spent decent money on a LG who is a former 1st round pick? Plus...And I think this continues to get lost every single year...The Bills have an organizational philosophy...They prefer not to take OG's with premium picks...They take OT's and convert them because they feel in a pinch they need players who can fill in outside as well...So...If you're looking for an OG a player like Brandon Thomas is a much better fit for the way the Bills Draft than Yankey...Also...Martin will never slide to the 2nd...And the Bills would 100% take Moses over Yankey... I don't see Michael Sam as a fit for this Defense, nor do I see him as a 4th Round prospect...IMHO he's borderline Draft-able...He's a tweener that lacks speed...He's WAY too stiff to play OLB, even in a 3-4...He's also too small and not nearly strong enough to play DE in NFL...He's the worst kind of tweener...He's all effort, but in the NFL that does not get you far...His future in the NFL depends on how well he can play ST's... I like Carlos Hyde but I don't think there's any way he falls to the 3rd...I think too many teams have him as their #1 RB... Anyway...
-
I did a Mock last night and had Bridgewater going to the Vikings...I think they're the landing spot for that 3rd QB in the top 8, whoever slides down...So maybe that will make your friend feel a little better? I had the Bills taking Matthews in my Mock...Here's how I mocked the top 9 picks... Houston - Blake Bortles - QB St Louis - Greg Robinson - OT Jacksonville - Johnny Football - QB Cleveland - Jadeveon Clowney - DE Oakland - Sammy Watkins - WR Atlanta - Khalil Mack - OLB Tampa Bay - Mike Evans - WR Minnesota - Teddy Bridgewater - QB Buffalo - Jake Matthews - OT I think if Matthews falls to the Bills they won't hesitate to take him...If Matthews, Evans, Robinson, and Watkins are all gone I think the Bills will look to trade out, and if they can't decide between Lewan and Ebron...We'll see though...Lots of shifting parts and we still have a month...Damn you Roger!!! Damn you!!!

[closed]My gut feeling about the Teams future.
KOKBILLS replied to bisonbrigade's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes...Polian said he knows that for a fact... -
This just tweeted from PFF... Pro Football Focus @PFF 6m Most yards gained on "go" routes: Alshon Jeffery, AJ Green, Demaryius Thomas, Jordy Nelson, Jimmy Graham, Vincent Jackson, Brandon Marshall See anything in common? Only one of those receivers (Nelson who is 6-2 5/8) is shorter than 6-3... Just saying...That's why a player like Evans is in such demand...

What? Now...I agree the Bills already have a LT and he's not moving...But there are 3 LT prospects in this Draft that are considered elite...All three have higher grades than the OT prospect that went #1 overall last year... Also...Clowney's never going to fall to the Bills, and it's ultra-doubtful the Bills trade up to get him... And the next Bruce? No offense, but I don't understand why people say these things...So this kid, who has never played a single down in the NFL and at times completely disappeared in College, is the next Bruce?...The same Bruce who is unquestionably one of the top 5 DE's in the entire history of the NFL...Why do that to the kid? That type of expectation is unfair IMHO...If he's the next Robert Quinn that is pretty darn good...But the next Bruce? We'll see...I have no problem predicting he's not the next Bruce Smith, or Lawrence Taylor...Because the odds I'm right about that are massively in my favor...Let's wait and see...Clowney is clearly worthy of the #1 overall pick...That in itself is a great accomplishment for him...After a few years in the NFL we'll see who he compares to...I still doubt it will be Bruce...But maybe...Again...we'll see...

Source: Bills could have new owner as soon as October
KOKBILLS replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You mean Jones contribution? Because I can't find info concerning that specifically...Though it seems unlikely this soon...But it's not like anything concerning Jerry's World is going bad either... From the Stadium Wiki..."Arlington voters approved the increase of the city's sales tax by 0.5 percent, the hotel occupancy tax by 2 percent, and car rental tax by 5 percent. The City of Arlington provided over $325 million (including interest) in bonds as funding, and Jones covered any cost overruns. Also, the NFL provided the Cowboys with an additional $150 million loan, following its policy for facilitating financing for the construction of new stadiums." This from the Star-Telegram's article on the naming rights..."With the additional revenue, Arlington’s stadium debt could be paid off up to a year sooner, City Manager Trey Yelverton said. Because revenue is coming in faster than expected, officials have said that the debt should be paid off by 2024 or 2025 — at least 10 years early." http://www.star-tele...make-major.html It does seem all debt pay-off projections are far ahead of schedule though... http://www.dallasnew...tadium-9172.ece Read more here: http://www.star-tele...l#storylink=cpy
