  1. Amen... I was a HUGE RHCP fan back in the day...I really liked Californication, even though it was a pretty major departure for them...But they totally lost me after that... Still I should point out that I'll take them over Bruno Mars any day...
  2. Pettine was hidden behind Rex and everyone knows that...He was not going to get an interview for an HC job last year due to that fact, and that's at least part of the reason he left the Jets...This is pretty much public knowledge... Personally I think Pettine will prove to be a better HC than Marrone when he finally gets the chance...But at this point that's not saying much, and it's not much more than a gut feeling for me...I've generally been a little bit under-impressed by Marrone so far...Though I'm not giving up on him by any means...I think Pettine has worked on better staffs, has a better NFL resume than Marrone, and has a history of getting more out of his players...And even though Marrone would seem to be more qualified due to his HC experience in College, I'm not convinced that matters much...From everything I've read and heard about Pettine he gets high marks for his interpersonal skills...He just needs someone to give him a shot...Pettine strikes me as the type of guy who knows what is up, but is going to play it very close to the vest...While Marrone is a guy who will tell anyone and their mother how he knows everything...Marrone's best accomplishment as an NFL HC to this point may very well be the fact that he hired Pettine...I prefer Pettine's approach, even if he does come off as a a bit subdued... But that's all just my opinion...We'll see how it all looks 5 years from now...
  3. Just reading some "insider" comments under a recent article on cleveland.com, and some are convinced Quinn is clearly the #1 target and has been all along...
  4. Well...It's starting to look like no one wants that job...I don't see Pettine being the kind of guy who will back down from a real challenge, so he may just be the last man standing before it's all said and done...Great...
  5. Agreed...The key is, will there be a player still available at #9 that creates enough interest...Last year Tavon Austin was in demand and that pushed the Rams to deal up...Hopefully that can be repeated in 2014...
  6. I don't know Bill...You could be right...But I was always under the assumption that the Bills were open to paying the big bucks, but the big names were not open to the Bills...So this time around (with Marrone) they did not even attempt to go after any big names because they knew what the answer would be...
  7. I have an awesome idea... Let's Draft a RB at #9 first...Then unload Spiller when his trade value is just about rock bottom...Preferably during Camp 2014 for a 4th and a conditional 5th... Oh...wait...
  8. While I've been steadfast on my belief that the Bills will take a WR (probably Evans) or Eric Ebron at #9...I will say this...If I was Drafting, and he was still there at #9, I would have a REAL hard time passing on the OT Robinson...He's an absolute mauler...Plug him in at RT and just watch him blow holes open all year...I really, really, really like that kid...
  9. It's certainly looking that way early...We'll see how it all plays out...A lot can happen in 4 months...But when I see Evans on tape a see a kid that looks like he can be a monster in the right Offense...He's just looks like such an imposing guy physically for a WR...His arms look 8 feet long...And I like his aggression...He's definitely going to be a huge consideration for the Bills...No doubt about it...
  10. While I'll admit to a little bit of wishful thinking on my end, I totally agree with this take...I think Pettine would be an awfully hard sell to Cleveland fans at this point in time...And while there is no question that the Bills Defense improved under him, it's not like they set the world on fire either...They ranked 28th in rushing yards allowed...That's with two Pro Bowl level DT's and Mario Williams on the D-line, and a Defensive ROY candidate at ILB...I don't think a Cleveland fan base that is already in a bit of a frenzy would be willing to accept Pettine no matter how ready he may be...It's a really tough sell at this time...
  11. Consensus for who? And more importantly when?... The Draft process takes time. After the 2012 College season EJ was considered a 3rd -4th round prospect, but things quickly changed starting with the Sr Bowl practices...Scouts realized really quick that EJ had a ton of potential to go along with his athletic ability...Then the Combine workouts and interviews where EJ really, really impressed...Then the private workout where EJ showed well...It was a weak QB class in 2013 anyway, so it's easy to see why EJ flew to the top...I would say by the time the Draft came about the consensus was that EJ would go somewhere between the mid 1st and mid 2nd...Granted some scouts still felt EJ was a 3rd-4th round pick...But by the time the whole process was complete those scouts were in the minority...
  12. Well...Should he be hired...My only response will be... Figures...
  13. Well...If you want Watkins start thinking about what you're willing to give up to get him...Because if he runs what he says he can run at Indy...he's not going to be around at #9...
  14. Please do...that would be greatly appreciated...
  15. Agreed... Nix is a decent talent evaluator, but he was a terrible team builder...Using a premium pick on a RB after the Bills had done the same thing only three years prior was just mind-boggling to me...To be honest I still can't believe that's the way Nix decided to start his reign as GM...It still baffles me...I'm well aware that the Lynch situation was complicated, but Nix took the dumb way out...He already had Freddie, but he still allowed himself to fall for Spiller instead of concentrating on building a team...As it turns out, not only did he have Freddie, but the Bills sign Joique Bell as a UDFA that year...Bell certainly could have filled a 3rd string RB slot as insurance if Lynch bombed...And there's always a few later round RB's in every Draft...In 2010 Jonathan Dwyer, Anthony Dixon, and James Starks went in the 6th Round...Granted not feature backs, but all good enough for depth to buy an extra year...
  16. I was pretty excited and optimistic about the Marrone hire...I like the guy...I think he gets the pain we feel and all that... But after a year I'm a little less than optimistic...Granted he can turn this thing around quick in 2014...He did finish 4-3 at Home...That's a baby step forward...And a more stable QB situation could prove to be a big difference...But I'm not overly impressed with some things...Especially the fact that outside of the QB situation the Bills actually got more healthy as the year went on, but still only went 3-5 in the second half...Most concerning to me was the way they just got manhandled in NE...They had won two in a row and I expected them to play tough in that game...Granted I did not think they could win it, but I expected a similar effort that they gave vs. NE in the home opener...That did not happen...I felt they really got pushed around in the NE game, once again out-physicaled, and it left me with a real bad taste in my mouth heading into the off season...
  17. My best guess is that Spiller was the key to everything that happened afterwards...I think the Bills knew they could not get much for Marshawn and were begrudgingly going to keep him if they had to...But then they absolutely fell head over heels in love with Spiller and that started the events in motion...
  18. That pretty much sums up my thoughts about the guy...I know he's highly respected...His players love him...But I'm not sure he's HC material...It's a massive step up for anyone...We'll see I guess...
  19. A bit overrated here sure...This is a Buffalo Bills message board...But arguably top 25? Come on... I'm pretty sure Jim Kelly is firmly entrenched in the Top 25 conversation...Likely entrenched in the top 15...Arguably top 10...
  20. Well...I hear you...No question viable excuses...But it's always something jw...Always something... And the overhaul excuse is one I think even Marrone would not be comfortable with...He came into town lauding the talent on this roster he inherited...And overall they did little more than a baby step forward, if that...They got better in some areas, worse in others...It may be just me, but I think they looked like a 7-9 to 8-8 team on the field (even with the QB injuries) that finished 6-10...And I don't think that amounts to much of a positive review for this HC...Though clearly I don't want to run him out of town either...We'll see how 2014 goes...
  21. Arguably? What? Did he forget to leave you a tip once or something? I'd say considering the fact that there's only something like 23 modern era QB's in the NFL HOF Kelly safely fits somewhere in that 25... And yes, Cincy did run a version of the no huddle before the Bills implemented their version...But it was not the same animal...It's like saying a Zebra is a Horse because they kinda look the same...Kelly took the no huddle to a place no one has seen before...And after Marchibroda left Kelly also was basically the OC...called his own plays, etc...So...
  22. There's always at least one...Always...
  23. Montana Elway Manning Brady By the time it's all said and done I think Brees will be next...
