  1. Thursday at 8pm the 2014 NFL draft will kick off and it's time for us Buffalo Sports fans to put our money where our moth is. So here's how it's going down: I'll poll Twitter and Facebook starting tomorrow morning and continue until the the draft starts. For example, I'll ask who you think Houston will select with the first overall pick, wait an hours, tally the votes, and then we'll go to the next pick. Simply Reply to the tweet or facebook post. http://www.ubbullrun.com/2014/5/6/5688382/buffalo-sports-fan-mock-draft The Texans are on the clock, just reply here https://twitter.com/UBBullRun/status/464036862042963968 of here https://www.facebook.com/ubbullrun/posts/886755214673609

  3. http://www.ubbullrun.com/2014/3/28/5557240/46-for-46-1-why-you-dont-pass-on-a-local-mac-star In 2004, a Quarterback from Miami of Ohio by way of Lima, Ohio was on the board as Cleveland picked #6 overall. The Quarterback was Ben Roethlisberger, he had thrown for almost 11,000 yards in 3 years in college, thrown 80 TD passes and in his final year, he led the Redhawks to a MAC Championship and a 13-1 record. Cleveland passed on Roethlisberger, instead signing veteran Jeff Garcia and drafting a weapon for the QB, tight end Kellen Winslow Jr. .....
  4. I don't see it happening with Houston going first but some sources are starting to call the Buffalo Linebacker a possible #1.. http://www.ubbullrun.com/2014/2/6/5388166/khalil-mack-the-no-1-overall-pick I had never given much thought to the possibility that Khalil Mack could be taken number one overall in the NFL draft, given the Texans' needs at Quarterback. But, after reading an article on FanSided that cited rumors that Mack is a dark horse candidate to be taken number one in this May's draft, I asked myself: "Could this really happen?"
  5. http://www.ubbullrun.com/2014/1/30/5362682/bull-run-mock-draft-1-0 After a short time away, I'll be starting what will (hopefully) be a bi-weekly, or weekly series of Mock Drafts leading up to the 2014 Draft. I'll be including team needs with each team, but for this draft I'll only include descriptions for the top 16 picks, and as we get closer to the draft I'll add descriptions for the back half of the draft. 1. Houston Texans: Teddy Bridgewater, QB, Louisville Team Needs: QB, OT, OLB Conventional wisdom says that new regimes mean new quarterbacks, and Bill O'Brien will surely want to bring in his own franchise quarterback. Now, many are quick to point to the 2006 draft when the Texans took Mario Williams instead of Reggie Bush, but, this is a completely different situation. The Texans' defense already has many quality pieces in place with super-star defensive end JJ Watt, linebacker Brian Cushing, and cornerback Jonathan Joseph. It's apparent that Matt Schaub is not a franchise quarterback given his struggles this season and in the postseason when playing any team that isn't the Cincinnati Bengals. Teddy Bridgewater has the makings of a franchise quarterback with a good accuracy and velocity. He needs to put some weight on his 6-3, 200 lb frame but that shouldn't be an issue in an NFL strength program. 2. St. Louis Rams (from Washington): Jake Matthews, OT, Texas A&M Team Needs: OT, WR, S Given Les Snead's desire to build around Sam Bradford, it only makes sense that he get a top-tier left tackle to protect Bradford's blindside. This pick makes sense given Jake Long's injury history and the fact that right tackle Roger Saffold is an impending free agent. Matthews has experience playing both tackle positions and will transition easily to the pros. He has the agility to mirror speed rushers, and the power to anchor against the bull rush and in the run game. This pick may be up for grabs to whoever the highest bidder is given the presence of Jadeveon Clowney, but to keep things simple I'll leave out trades from this mock. 3. Jacksonville Jaguars: Blake Bortles, QB, UCF Team Needs: QB, OT, WR Surprise! Not many people are mocking Bortles, or any quarterback for that matter, to the Jaguars and I think its crazy. General Manager David Caldwell has said he wants to build around Blaine Gabbert, but, the issue is that Gabbert is scared in the pocket and is a serious project. Without a competent quarterback, it won't matter how good the Jaguars' defense is. The truth is, quarterbacks are the most important players on the field, and no franchise will get better without a solid signal-caller under center. Bortles looks the part at 6-4 230 lbs, and was very impressive in the Knights' shootout victory over the Baylor Bears in the Fiesta Bowl. He will need to continue to impress scouts at his pro day and at the Combine, but I think the Jaguars get their franchise QB in Bortles. ...
  6. http://www.ubbullrun.com/2014/1/22/5334926/buffalo-bulls-baseball-home-games I think given the state of their home "field" that they could play a number of their home contests as warm up games for the Bisons.

  9. Mocking the Draft had Mack going to the Bills at #7 and then last night he put on a show.. http://www.ubbullrun.com/2013/11/20/5124832/khalil-mack-nfl-draft He's spent four years going from an skinny(ish) but talented kid from Florida to the terror of the Mid American Conference. Mack now owns the NCAA record for forced fumbles and is just two and a half tackles for loss short of that College record. Many times people believe that mid major players benefit from lesser competition but you can't point at Khalil Mack and say "it's just the weak schedule". People were using that excuse in August when Mack was being projected as a second round pick. He's good" but who has he played... Then Khalil Mack Blew up Ohio State. Urban Meyer correctly called Mack the best player on the field.
  10. Horrible in Basketball? They are in the top third of er the all division one teams over the past four years! They have 3 20 win seasons, and have been to three post season tournaments. If they were in the MAAC they would have been dancing.
