And without Buddy around it makes it even easier to be more guarded...I loved hearing Buddy talk about individual prospects because I think if you really follow the team, and the teams needs, he slipped up a lot...I felt he ever-so-slightly tipped off the Gilmore, Glenn, and Manuel picks...He just had a way of saying things without actually saying them...Then when you look back it becomes obvious who they liked...I felt we put together some clues last year right here on the board that led us to Manuel...Especially when Buddy kind of mirrored what Mayock was saying about Manuel...ie...If you're going to take a flyer on a QB take the guy with the biggest upside potential that you can mold into a top starter in a couple years...As far as Glenn it was obvious when Buddy compared him to Marcus McNeil...

Good effort... The St Louis and Minnesota trade makes a ton of sense to me mostly because I believe St Louis really want Matthews but understands #2 is a bit too high to take him...And it would give Minnesota their choice of QB's which is by far their biggest need... I realize you undervalued the trade-down purposely...And a little correction...The Giants pick #113 (not #108) in the 4th...But anyway, if the Bills were to do that I would imagine they would also ask for the Giants 5th or 6th Round pick as well...A 4th, plus a 5th or 6th would still be an undervalued trade...But in a deep Draft more picks is never a bad thing... I don't disagree...

Bucky Brooks 2 round mock draft...
KOKBILLS replied to Bob Malooga's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I've been real disappointed in Jeremiah this year where his Bills projections are concerned...I liked Jeremiah last year because I felt he was pretty thorough...This year...Well...He's been on the CJ Mosely to the Bills wagon for a while...But when he's discussed the Bills he has yet to mention a single time that we signed Spikes...Not one single time that I can remember...Now...I realize many do not consider Spikes a 3 down LB...I get that...I would even get it if Jeremiah explained why he likes Mosely more than Spikes...But every time he mentions Mosely to the Bills he assumes he'll slide right in as the starter on the inside next to Kiko...Brandon Spikes is not invisible...The Bills signed Spikes for a reason...I just don't see the logic in signing Spikes and Rivers, then using a premium pick on Mosley...And Jeremiah has completely ignored this point... As for Barr...I would be shocked if he was the pick...I don't see him being a fit, or a need...It would make no sense at all...I don't get that projection whatsoever...I think he's like Mingo, but with less experience...He's a situation player right now...He's not an every down LB in most Defenses, and he's definitely not a DE...I think he's a better player than Maybin coming out, but the comparisons are not completely invalid because Barr is going to need to land on a team that has a definitive plan on how to use him...I think he may be able to be a Jerry Hughes-type DE/OLB in a couple years...But the Bills already have Jerry Hughes so (and yes I know Hughes is a UFA in 2015)... -
And if he's planning on moving The Bills that would be a VERY smart career move...I'm thinking it would be smart for him to avoid WNY period...Like...forever...

I would REALLY like to see him book Darien Lake this Summer...That would be interesting...

LT/RT Mathews or TE Ebron in R1??
KOKBILLS replied to ChanOverChin's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Completely agree... I mean...I get the call for the flashy pick...I would love to get either Evans or Ebron...It would be exciting...But with a guy like Matthews you just can't lose...We're talking about a player that is being legitimately considered for #2 overall by St Louis...Now...I'm not saying St Louis will take him because the top of this Draft is loaded with talent and they have other needs as well...But he is being considered, and some folks think Fisher will take him over Robinson...He's NFL ready and an incredible value at #9 overall...You get a kid that could have legitimately gone #1 overall in 2013 at #9 overall in 2014...That's crazy...You have to push the positional stuff aside and realize you are getting a player that will anchor the right side of the line for a minimum of the next 5 years with the ability to slide over to LT at any time...I just don't see how that kind of value is a bad thing... I doubt Matthews will be there at #9 anyway...But if he is, and the Bills take him, I'm A.O.K. with that pick... -
I missed the interview tonight...Interesting...That's about what Kelvin Benjamin weighs...But a Kaufman move to TE is intriguing...The kid can catch the ball...He's 6-5...The WR position is already crowded on this team and they'll probably Draft another...What's not to like about his?
-
I like Beckham...But not for the Bills as much...Woods, and Flash are already 6 ft or smaller WR's...I don't see the need for another... If they trade down and take a WR I'd prefer one of the bigger ones...But you can likely get one of them at #41 anyway...So...to me at least...I think a trade down opens up the possibility for names like Clinton-Dix, Calvin Pryor, Dee Ford, or Zach Martin...

Please Vote for our Pick in Fan Mock!
KOKBILLS replied to Astrobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I went with Ebron...Kind of by default...I actually expect the offered choices are pretty much going to be what it comes down to...Maybe the QB remaining changes...But I think the Bills are going to be looking at Ebron or Lewan...And I think that scenario screams trade down if possible...If no trade I'd prefer Ebron... -
I totally agree that we will be getting a very good player in the 1st round...And a player that will fill a need as well...My guess is...right now at least...that it would be Lewan or Ebron based on the fact that I think Clowney, Watkins, Robinson, Matthews, Mack, and Evans will all be gone in the top 8..But that's just a guess... Right...Clevelands 1st at #26, 2nd (35), 4th (106), and 6th (180) would be about dead even on the value chart...Very close...

Valid point...But BPA will be entirely dependent on who is the Bills BPA...Because no matter who they take they will say it was the BPA on their board...And it probably will be...But that could be a Safety, Cornerback, DE, WR...Who knows? The only thing I know is they will say it was the BPA on their board...

Don't let facts get in the way of a good fan-on-fan over-generalized rant NoSaint...
-
Exactly... I understand the OP was likely just trying to be funny...So this is not necessarily pointed at him/her...But to be honest these over-generalizations and over exaggerations aimed at Bills fans here on the board do nothing to further any conversation about this team whatsoever...It's my #1 pet peeve here...And there's not even a close second...It's like cheap message board trash-talk...It's useless...I thought this board was supposed to be about discussing the Buffalo Bills football organiation...Not discussing Buffalo Bills fans and lumping fringe opinions into collectives to make a point that really has no bearing on anything...

Are the Quarterbacks going to start dropping?
KOKBILLS replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I hear you...But...If the Bills talk themselves out of it what real choice do the fans have other than to complain or deal with it? What does it matter if they've (the Bills) made up their mind? We have zero control...So I don't think it's a matter of most Bills fans talking themselves into it...Rather, I believe they move on knowing the Bills have talked themselves into it and hope for the best...Because that's all they can do... -
I would not want any Defensive player at #9 unless his name is Clowney or Mack... I'm also still not crazy about Lewan's off-field stuff...But I do think he would make a great addition to the O-line as a player... I'm a Michigan fan...And I'm not a huge supporter of Lewan because of the off-the-field stuff...I will say though that there is the belief among some that he will eventually be a better NFL player than Matthews...He is considered an elite prospect as an OT...You're not getting a 3rd best...You're more getting a guy that's tied for 2nd, with potentially a better upside than the guy he's tied with...You're getting an absolute elite athlete for the position...He's top notch athletically...But you're also getting a guy with off-field questions NFL teams have to be comfortable he's answered...

KOKBILLS replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
NFL Network streams their coverage...They had two different stream feeds for the Combine...It was awesome!!! I'm pretty sure WGR has extensive coverage on all three days...You can always find stations that are streaming ESPN's radio coverage... -

I'd rather be hung by my...well...you know...than listen to Sanders and Irvin talk about anything...And I mean anything...Football related or not...Those two grind on my last nerve...They are absolutely stealing money from The NFL Network...They suck...Sanders more than Irvin IMHO...But I think they both stink... -
Better Draft Day (s) coverage: ESPN or NFLN?
KOKBILLS replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have one on each TV...DVR both so I can go back and watch the commentary when the Bills pick...I like NFL Network a bit more...But not by much...I think they both do some things well...I like Kiper and Mayock...I really do like both of them...But I also think both networks give too much air time to dumb stuff like Coaches interviews (especially on Day #3), and those incredibly dumb 1st Draft things NFL Network does with the prospects posing like models...UGH! I hate that crap!!! I would much rather they stick to talking about the picks, the teams, and the players remaining...There is no reason they can't do this either...Mayock and Kiper know every single player Drafted...There's plenty to talk about...Instead you get way too much filler garbage...again...especially on Day 3... -
ESPN Poll regarding Buffalo Bills
KOKBILLS replied to DallasBillsFan1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It was NFL Network... And it was not so much that the discussion was about how the Bills can finish better than last...It was more about how the best the Bills can hope for is to not finish last...With the assumption being they would probably finish last because all this team ever does is let their good players walk because they refuse to pay them... I should also point out that it's not my assumption whatsoever that the Patriots are a given to win the Division...I feel if Manuel plays well enough the Bills have the talent to knock the Pats off their throne...I realize full well I'm in the minority on that one...In my previous post I was referring to the conversations among the talking heads being that it's a given the Pats will finish in 1st...If I can paraphrase what Daniel Jeremiah said the other day on Path to The Draft it was basically forget about the Patriots winning the Division...That is a given...The 2014 season is about if the Patriots can win the SB...So...To me at least...It's a given that all the experts will feel the best any AFC East team can do is finish 2nd to the Pats...So I'm not expecting anyone to consider the Bills for 1st place...Hope that explains where I'm coming from on this...Admittedly this crap bothers me more than it does most people... -
ESPN Poll regarding Buffalo Bills
KOKBILLS replied to DallasBillsFan1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's fine for the average NFL fan with collective IQ's in the single digits...I get that...I even expect it... But for paid analysts I do expect more...And I don't expect glowing praise either...I simply expect for them to be more thorough and not take the easy way out the way most numb-nuts will...To say the Bills are just a bunch of losers is no where even remotely close to telling the whole story...And I seriously doubt the 5 teams they beat last year (Miami twice of course), or the three other teams that beat them by a FG on the last play of the game, feel the Bills are nothing more than a bunch of 6-10 losers...That's how close the Bills were to being 9-7 and finishing 2nd in the AFC East...Three last-play-of-the-game FG's...I'm certain that's worthy of conversation more favorable than..."The only question for the Bills is can they avoid finishing in last place..." That's all I'm saying... Objectively I don't see any reason the Bills can't legitimately compete with Miami and the Jets for 2nd in the AFC East...I really don't see how anyone can see it differently unless they simply want to say the Bills always find a way to lose and that's that...But I expect more in depth analysis from paid ex-pros...Maybe it's just me...Maybe it's just easier to blame the Flutie curse and move on... -
ESPN Poll regarding Buffalo Bills
KOKBILLS replied to DallasBillsFan1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Exactly...I thought I was negative about this team... Good grief... The other day The NFL Network was focusing on the AFC East and basically only asking if the Bills can avoid being in last place again...I mean...OK...I understand NE is the favorite and that's the end of that conversation...But the Bills were 3-1 vs the Jets and Miami last year...They beat Miami twice with Thad Lewis at QB and shut them out the 2nd time...And they were probably one Justin Rogers away from sweeping those two teams...So...Is the question really what can the Bills do to stay out of last place? Or instead is it can the Bills do enough this off season to pass the Jets and Miami?... Then there's Charley Casserly who is just giving his opinion but it was overblown especially considering the fact that EJ did have some success as a Rookie in only 10 games...And Daniel Jeremiah, who I like a lot...But the guy is completely and totally oblivious to the fact that the Bills signed Brandon Spikes this off season...He has brought up the Bills drafting a MLB about 100 times and has not mentioned Spikes name once...Jeremiah is usually MUCH more thorough...I know because there is not a single Path To The Draft, or almost any NFL Network show I have missed over the past two years...Most of them I DVR and watch twice...I just don't get it with Jeremiah ignoring the Spikes signing...At least mention it for Christ's sake...Then there's this...When they talk about the Bills losing Byrd with guys like Willie McGinest it's like the end of the freaking world...But when they talk about the biggest Free Agency moves this off season in the NFC South, and ask McGinest along with a few other ex-jocks, not a single one even mentions Byrd...Not one! Not a peep...So what is it Willie? I mean surely if it's that big a loss for the Bills it has to be one of the more significant pick-ups in the NFC South...Right?... Look I can be as negative as anyone about this team...My record here on this board is proof positive of that fact...But I think the Bills have had a very good off season all things considered...I think there are three (main) factors that will determine if they can push NE, and yes they can push NE if these three things happen...One...EJ has to play better and play 14-16 games...The better EJ plays the less important all remaining factors become...And I mean all...Two...In order for EJ to be more effective the Bills have to run the ball better when they want to run it, especially when they run it on 1st down...Three...They have to play better, more consistent, Defense vs run...That's it...Plain and simple...Do those three things only and they will win more close games and push for a playoff spot...They have the overall talent...Now they simply need to rough out some edges and get better play at the most important position in the NFL...
