All that may or may not be true...But in this particular Draft is think it's a moot point when considering the OP on this thread...Because in this particular Draft the Bills should be able to get a player of very high value at a position of great need...I don't think there are many scouts, gm's, anybody who will have Donald rated ahead of Clowney, Robinson, Watkins, Lewan, Matthews, or Mack...And as long as those 3 QB's go in the top 8 the Bills will have an opportunity to Draft one of those 6 players...So...At least for this year...They should not have the worry of stockpiling talent in lieu of need...

Fair enough... But I should have been more specific and less smart-ass... Carrington or not (and I do hope he comes back for one year minimum), The Bills deepest unit is arguably the D-line...When you're a team like Seattle or San Fran you may be able to get away with stockpiling talent on one unit...The Bills are no where near that deep yet, and using #9 overall on a player that would basically mirror what Kyle Williams does in this Defense would be unit-stockpiling, not team building IMHO... To be honest I wish the Bills were in the position to consider a player like Donald...But they're not...They need a lot of help on Offense, and their biggest need on Defense is at LB...So to me a move like that is really no different than Drafting CJ Spiller when you already have Freddie and Marshawn...It's not team building...It's talent stockpiling...And it puts the Bills no closer to being a winner...Add to that the fact that Donald is a bit of a tweener, he would likely only play about half of the downs on Defense because of the way they rotate in and out, and of course nothing is a given in the NFL (though I do think he'll end up being a good pro), I just think it's too big a risk at this time...

I don't know why it is...But Matthews does very little to excite me...Yet there are some very respected scouts out there who believe he is the 2nd best player in this Draft...And it's not that I don't know he's a very good prospect...I guess he just lacks hype...And maybe that's a good thing... -

It may just be me...But I think Barr is a long, long shot to the Bills...Assuming those 3 QB go in the top 8 of course...If that happens the Bills will get one from a group of Clowney, Robinson, Watkins, Matthews, Lewan, or Mack...And I really doubt they will value Barr ahead of Mack...Barr is not anything close to a finished product at OLB, and he's not a DE...He's very much a one-dimensional player right now... Admittedly, everything I've read about Barr has been very positive concerning his potential to adapt to an NFL OLB, but he's not there yet...And the players that will be there at #9 are far more ready to contribute...I would not compare Barr to Maybin, but the worry is there, and there are similarities...The worry with Barr right now is his ability to hold the edge vs the run...Which was the exact reason Mike Mayock said that Maybin was not a first round worthy prospect in 2009...And if you're going to take an OLB at #9...You better be sure he's a 3-down LB...I don't think Barr is there yet...It's a big gamble... -

I think that's exactly what the Bills would do with Robinson if the pipe-dream happened and he was available at #9...Let him play LG as a Rookie, then move him outside in 2015...In the mean time the Bills get an absolute mauler at LG for the run game, and they can help him out a little to learn the intricacies of Pass Blocking in the NFL...I really think that kid is going to be a perennial All Pro in time..He'll make the Pro Bowl as a Rookie if he plays LG...Take that one to the bank... -

Any Bills fan that would not vote for Robinson in that scenario should just turn in their fan card now...I'm not overly crazy about taking an OT at #9...But Robinson is a 100% no-brainer for the Bills...IMHO that kid is the next Orlando Pace...I really think he's going to be that good in time... -

He was a Jauron pick...From most accounts he's the guy Jauron wanted...In fact there were rumors that Jauron banged the table pretty hard for him if I remember correctly... -
Assuming Carrington comes back for at least one more year...You are 100% correct with this statement...

Jairus Byrd [was Jarius Byrd]

Right...That's pretty much what I meant by "fast enough and real quick to react..." But running a 4.68 is slow for a Safety to run at Indy...Especially one that becomes a 2nd round pick and All Pro...There's really nothing relative about the time itself...It's a slow time for a DB... -

He ran slow at Oregon's Pro day...I think it was a 4.68...But he had a groin strain and it was bad enough that it kept him from running at the Combine...He's never been a fast straight line guy...But he's always been fast enough, and real quick to react... -
who thinks we will go OT in the 1st round

That's the great thing about #9 this year...As long as those 3 QB go in the top 8 the Bills are going to get one from Robinson, Clowney, Watkins, Mack, Matthews, or Lewan...It really seems to be a no-lose spot... -

Just watched Wilcots and Evans on NFL Network...Their top 10 mock had Robinson going 2nd, Matthews going 6th, and Lewan going 7th...Which left Kahlil Mack for the Bills at #9...I do think in that scenario the Bills would take Mack...I don't think the Bills want to go Defense at #9...But if all three OT's and Watkins are gone I think they'll be happy to walk away with Mack... -

I'm not sure Sam is going to be able to beat out anybody for PT in the NFL... Check out what Daniel Jeremiah said about Sam and prospects who have bunched sack numbers...He only had a full sack or better in 5 of 14 games last season...He had 3 games with 3 sacks each...That's 78% of his sack total in 3 games, and one of those games was against Arkansas St...To be honest I'm not sure how the kid won co-Defensive player of the year in the SEC...He had 8,5 sacks in 9 SEC games...That's good...But 6 of those 8.5 came in two games (Vandy and SC)...Sam did not record a sack in 5 SEC games, and had only 9 total tackles in those 5 games...He had a total of 28 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, no forced fumbles and 2 passes defended in SEC games...That's not a bad season, but it's really hard for me to believe that no other SEC player outside of C.J. Mosley had a better year Defensively in the SEC...Really hard for me to believe... Sam is going to have a tough time making any NFL Roster if he can't contribute on Special Teams, and at the very least be a legit back-up at DE...He's WAY too slow and stiff in the hips to play OLB, even in a pure 3-4...He can't turn and run...To me it looked like he had two tree-trunks for legs the way he was moving in the Combine drills...I was less than impressed... -

Exactly... I think it was a good move by the Bills to leak some of this out a bit...Hopefully this year there will be no question that the Bills offered Byrd a fair deal...And if this is true that have already offered him a deal that is more-than-fair IMHO... -
That much we agree on 100%!!!

D'Qwell Jackson (LB) Released by Browns
KOKBILLS replied to thebandit27's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I usually ignore these "this guy got cut...interested?" threads... But Jackson? Can't see how the Bills will not at least inquire...He's a good player at a need position... -
You may have added that last part...but you hit the nail squarely on the head... I mean...I like the Sabres too...but good grief... Fans don't care about what goes on behind the scenes? Bills fans? Seriously? They have to be kidding with that...The more rabid the fan base the more concern with what is going on from the Owner down...And if nothing else this is a pretty rabid fan base...They know better than to make a dumb statement like that...They have fielded several calls about when the analytics department was going to be up and running, yet they don't think Bills fans would care about a potentially HUGE story like this? That just seems strange to me...If anything make your calls and come out with all the info gathered, even if it amounts to nothing...Just do your due diligence...Get Warrow or another news agency on the line to see if they've heard anything like this...It's a potentially big story...Even if the story is that it's completely false and Graham made up the whole thing...I mean...The story said they wanted to fire the trainer that has been there forever on a team that has had (at times) massive injury problems...That's a decent size story right there...Who knows...Maybe I'm wrong... Then again...It's a week before the hockey trade deadline so I would hate for them to take away from the collective 7-8 hours per day of that thrilling conversation...Should the Sabres trade Miller for less than a 2nd round pick? The anxiety of the hockey trade deadline is keeping me up at night...

I don't think he looked bad...He looked pretty much exactly how I expected him to...To me he's Sidney Rice only a little taller and a little slower...Sometimes I wonder if they are the same player... -
Exactly...
