Bills considering trading up to #2 pick
KOKBILLS replied to Yeezus's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
With all the holes on this roster I have to say I would be well beyond pissed if we moved up to #2...It may not take as much as it did to move into #1...But it's going to take a lot...The Bills need an influx of talent in a few areas that can contribute right away, and they need cheap labor to fill out this roster...That means Draft picks...It would be stupid...Unless of course Wentz or Goff turn out to be the next Manning or Brady... -
I think the Bills would like to take at least 2 D-linemen in this Draft...One that can play the nose and one that can play all over...If you really look at it now the Bills have Dareus, Bryant, and a 32 year old KW coming off an injury...That's really about it...Unless of course anyone thinks T.J. Barnes or Jerel Worthy are going to turn into something...
-
Maybe it's just wishful thinking on my part...But I think this move solidifies the fact that a D-lineman with positional versatility is the #1 need on this Bills team... I know some folks are going to be concentrating on on DE/OLB...And no question the Bills need to improve their pass rush...But if Rex is in fact going to be "all in" on his scheme he needs a guy he can move around, and someone who will be very effective doing so...Think of Mohammad Wilkerson...That's what this Defense needs... That being said I think the names to watch at #19 (I'm assuming that Shedon Rankins will be gone...and I'm also not 100% convinced he's the best fit for this role because some NT will be required) are A'Shawn Robinson, Jarran Reed, Vernon Butler, and my personal favorite Chris Jones...Nkemdiche is a picture perfect fit as well...But his off-the-field stuff is enough to scare any NFL team away...Even one with Rex as a HC...
-
I guess it's a common name...Jones and all... This guy though...He's a 6-6-310 monster that can run and play up and down just about any D-front... https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2016/03/30/draft-why-we-should-all-pay-more-attention-to-dt-prospect-chris-jones/ https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2016/02/29/draft-pff-scouting-report-chris-jones-dt-mississippi-state/

Very true...

Let me just spice the list up a bit... Seriously the other names were good too...I really like Dodd a lot...But Jones...Goodness...The sky and beyond is definitely the limit...

Draft/team needs post first phase of FA

I could definitely be wrong about this...I probably will be...And the Bills don't announce their visits anymore anyway...So I don't think we can be 100% sure... But hypothetically...If the Bills were interested in the same guy I'm enamored with at #19...I would not want him anywhere close to OBD in hopes no one...no one...puts the pieces of the puzzle together...Because I think this kid is a Pro Bowl monster waiting to happen...And the way it's looking he'll be there at #19... -
Agreed... I think in a thinner year at his position Nkemdiche would have been a lock 1st Rounder..Probably top 15...Evan with the off-field stuff...But look at this year...Rankins, Robinson, Reed, Jones, Butler...then the NT Billings...It's just loaded...And sure most of them does not give the entire "potential" package RN does on the field...But they also don't come with a fraction of the potential headaches...And they are ALL very good prospects in their own right... Who knows...Maybe a team...like Oakland...rolls the dice in the 1st...But I think generally this year does not bode well for what Nkemdiche bring as an entire package...I would not be at surprised to see him drop into the 2nd Rd... Jeremiah and Bucky Brooks said the opposite on their last podcast...They said they hear a lot of talk about Spence...but most of it was negative...They did both seem a bit surprised by it...But I don't think he's a lock 1st Rd pick by any means...

I certainly don't mind this...Though I think Fackrell is the 2nd rounder and Jones is the 3rd rounder...Give me Chris Jones instead at #19 and I love it! -
Attitude... Honestly I have to admit I had no idea how poorly he played until I started watching the tapes and reading more about it...I think it was crystal clear from early on in the year he disliked his role in Rex's D... Generally I'm not too happy about guys like Mario leaving...Especially when they sign in the Division...He's got talent and I hate seeing talent leave...But even before I read and watched all the stuff about him grading out so poorly last year...honestly...I was unaffected by his imminent departure...He's just not worth the cash he makes...I'm not sure he ever really was...It's pretty clear he can be a surly dude...I would not be surprised to see him have a decent year...But I'm not sad he's gone either...

Draft/team needs post first phase of FA

I agree John...But at the expense of one of the many D-linemen that can be had...even in a trade down...I would not touch LB before #49...And even then...Unless it's Fackrell I'm not crazy about it... -

I'd take Chris Jones over Billings all day and twice on Sunday...That does not mean I don't like Billings...But I think Jones can do a lot of what Billings can do and much, much, more... -

Just listened to the latest "Move The Chains" podcast...They used this podcast to talk about what they are hearing about certain prospects from their sources around the league...Thought I would share a couple interesting takes... Daniel Jeremiah had this to say about Laquon Treadwell... "I talk to a lot of people around the league. Nobody expects him...and I mean nobody expects him to go in the Top 20 that I talk to..." Bucky Brooks on Treadwell... "The more I think about it the more I think he could be destined to fall into the 2nd Round..." Jeremiah again... "I don't think that is out of the realm of possibility...People may think it's crazy when they hear that..." They then went on to say Treadwell's value is similar to some other speed-deficient WR's...But you can get those guys later...And if you take Treadwell in the 1st your likely passing on a better prospect... Other mentions...They are mostly hearing Noah Spence is dropping... They still won't be surprised if Will Fuller is the 1st WR taken... TJ Green may be Drafted as a CB and go much higher than expected... They both prefer Jacoby Brissett to Kevin Hogan... -

I agree on Doctson...And I'm aware of the Bills depth at WR...But I don't think it's as bad as some do...They have a premier NFL WR they gave up two 1st Round picks to get...Woods may not be the best #2 WR...but he's not the worst either...I think they feel out of Hankerson, Boykin, and Little one will stick and contribute...Lewis is 6-4 and has his Rookie year behind him...He's still at OBD...So the Bills see something in him...And I know the Bills will Draft a WR somewhere in this Draft...If Doctson is there at #49 then I'm definitely listening...But I simply want to remind Bills fans of this...If a WR is taken in the 1st Round that's three 1st Round picks in three years on two WR's...It's stupid... I'm not a big Cook guy...And especially not in the 1st Rd...There's another thread in here somewhere that details my opinion on Cook and QB's who do not hit 60% completions in at least one of their years as a Starter in College...Cook never hit 59%...Folks can say what they want about Cook...And I realize he's got some good traits...But if he becomes a Top 10 QB in this league he will be bucking some SERIOUS odds based on his College stats...Hackenberg too...Hackenberg just scares me to be honest...My guess is the Bills are going to roll the dice and take Cardale Jones in the 3rd Round... As for #19 I'm a Chris Jones guy...That's who I want...If he's there (assuming Sheldon Rankins is gone) and the Bills pass on him...Well...I would not be thrilled...I think that kid has super-star potential...I'm not saying I would "Haloti Ngata freak out" again...But it would be similar... -
The longer this process goes on...the more I want Jones at #19... And I do see a correlation with Wilkerson...I think Rex will know exactly what to do with this kid...Once he's refined a bit you have someone with the size/athletic ability to be a Top 10 pick easy...And you get him at #19...He's got a little versatility too...Most importantly his floor is pretty high, but I think his ceiling is almost unlimited if he takes to coaching and works hard...Just imagine this 6-6 monster next to Dareus for the next 5 years...Oh my...

Well...Of those 3...I like Jones best...I can't imagine any of them is around at #49...but who knows...In Jones I see a kid that is a potential monster that can be had at #19...I think when Rex watches this kids good tape he drools uncontrollably... Can you imagine Dareus and this guy together? https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2016/03/30/draft-why-we-should-all-pay-more-attention-to-dt-prospect-chris-jones/ I just can't get over three 1st Round picks in three years for two WR's...It just seems to me like somehow, someway it's going to backfire on us big-time...I know that is not a scientific statement...But still...I can't stand the thought knowing we underachieved big-time on Defense last year...I just think it's poor team building...And in 4, maybe 5 years, one of them has to go... -

I'm just not OK with three 1st Round Picks in 3 years at WR...Though I agree it's a need...But it's a #2 WR need...It's a luxury pick because this team needs Defense bad... Personally I want Kevin Dodd, Vernon Butler, or Chris Jones at #19...I think they are all great fits for what Rex does...Butler and Jones can play all over the D-line...I really like their positional flexibility and the different looks we can give with either...I'm assuming Lawson will be gone because I REALLY like him as well... -

I mean...Seriously...How well can you really be following/understanding this Draft and the Bills needs when the argument comes down to Floyd vs Ragland vs Treadwell? I don't even have to know who went from 1-18 to know there HAS to be at least 5 other guys that would be better to consider there...And this quote..."Our biggest need is a Red Zone WR..." I guess Sammy would have something to say about that... They picked the WR...And I can't possibly disagree more with that idea...But that admittedly has a lot to do with my philosophy on what this team needs, and what the strength of this Draft/BPA is at #19...I know Treadwell is a good prospect...I'm not an idiot...But there are SO many good Defensive players available...If we were deeper on Defense it would be one thing...But we literally have no LDE, we desperately need pass rush, we need depth behind an aging KW...And we already have a #1 WR...A WR we used TWO 1st Round Picks to get!!! TWO!!! I just hate it... -

Should Bills look at Dak Prescott as QB pick?
KOKBILLS replied to Saxum's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He's not my favorite... At the very least I think it will be a couple years before you want to put him out there... I give him credit for improving in College...But he never seemed like an NFL prospect to me...Of course I'm wrong all the time...So... -

KOKBILLS replied to Gamache518's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No offense meant...But not a big fan of this line of thinking for the Bills in this Draft... This Draft provides a unique opportunity IMHO...The right 1st and 2nd Round picks could be key puzzles to turning this Bills Defense around big time because the Bills have talent on Defense, and two VERY good CB's...Add the right 2-3 players to that mix and now we've got something... I'm just not a fan of taking any Offensive player in the first two rounds of this Draft...I can see a WR or QB in the 3rd and 4th, and expect it...But I'd much rather the Bills stay BPA for the front 7 early in this Draft...We have a gaping hole at DE...We need a rush LB...We could use a multi-purpose DT/3-4 DE like Vernon Butler or Chris Jones... I know WR is a need...But the Bills Offense is going to run the ball more than 50% of the time regardless, and they have a Top 10 NFL WR already...I look at what the Panthers did last year with a VERY similar Offensive philosophy and the Bills depth at WR right now, without Drafting anyone, is equal to the Panthers last year...And this is NOT the 2014 Draft at the WR position...These WR's are being pushed WAY up because it's an off year at the position...I can promise all of you "WR in the 1st round" fans this much...At #19 there will be a Defensive player on the board that is going to be a star in this league...Probably more than one...I just can't say the same about ANY WR in this Draft... Not that I pay a ton of attention to these things...But in this case I'll make an exception...The NFL.com player comparison to Josh Docton is Terrence Williams...Terrence Williams! Now...I know Doctson is a good player...But #19 overall good? And this is a first round pick that we know...100%...will be no better than the #2 WR on this team long term...To me it makes no sense...Not when you can get a legit defensive stud to add a much needed boost to that Defense... One more point...I'm hearing a lot of the opinion/theory that because this Draft is so deep in Defense...especially front 7 Defense...that it's good strategy to take an Offensive player early...I pretty strongly disagree with this thought process...Let's start with the fact that 2 out of the last 3 SB winners did so largely on the back of their Defenses...And NE's Defense was MUCH improved when they beat Seattle...I think there is a difference between what you can get at #19 and what you can get at #80 on the front 7, even in this Draft...A BIG difference...The Bills need starters on Defense...They need depth on Defense...KW is not getting any younger...Mario is gone...They need a young stud to place next to Dareus for years to come, and they need pass rush help...They can get those pieces at #19 and #49 in this Draft...Wait and you risk getting a player that is not ready to give the Bills what they need in 2016... -

Or maybe they go with neither? I think assuming the Bills go LB at #19 is ridiculous...If you could combine Ragland and Lee...That's a LB worthy of #19 overall...But I don't like either there...If the Bills are bound and determined to go LB in the 1st I'd rather see them trade down and just take the one that's left... No matter what I prefer SO many D-linemen in this Draft to either Lee or Ragland I don't think it should matter...I really don't see how it will be possible for either of those two to be BPA when the Bills pick...
