I dont care about his numbers.....my hat goes
MDH replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't think it was overthrown at all. Twice today Evans was open and decided to slow down instead of simply running under the ball. If Evans keeps running full speed it's an easy TD as the defender doesn't run up his back. -
Denney looks like he's found a defense that he fits his strengths. Through the pre-season and two regular season games he, finally, looks like a player.

Now will they give the Bills D credit or...
MDH replied to bluv's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's more like 10 weeks in a row. -
People need to stop looking at numbers. The coaching staff is going to call a game based on what is happening during THAT game. They won't call the same plays in another game. If the D is struggling you can bet that the O will open it up a little bit to compensate. Offensive and defensive play calling aren’t mutually exclusive. How one is doing affects the other. The idea of football isn't to put a lot of points on the board, the idea is to win. Many people forget this fine point. The Bills could certainly put up more points but is the risk worth it when the D is playing so well? I don't think so.

Time Warner Cable is DOWN right now in Buffalo
MDH replied to elcrusho's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I've had DirecTV off and on for 6 years total and I can count on one hand how many times cloud coverage or a strom has prevented me from watching TV. -
This is what we were supposed to get last year. Strong defensive play combined with a conservative offensive game plan that didn't put the weight on the young QB's shoulders.

Oh, I'm excited about the win and think it could propel the Bills forward (at least I hope so) but I've also seen the Dolphins upcoming schedule. There's one team on it that appears to be strong (though, obviously, appearances can be deceiving). They could hit the halfway point of the season, even with a mediocre team, at 5-3.

At the same time let's not write their obituary too early.

Can I Start The 'Official' Game Thread?

The time to complain is when the conservative crap is costing the Bills the game. With the Bills up 13 points perhaps it's a bit too early. -
Can I Start The 'Official' Game Thread?

I'm not really worried about this D in the first half. I'm worried about it in the 2nd once they start to wear down. Being on the field almost the entire 2nd quarter doesn't help. Hopefully the Bills will get back to pounding the ball on O to take some time off the clock. -
Dolphins 24 Bills 20

You know, if everybody didn't understand your question perhaps the fault lies with the person who asked the question. No, it couldn't be that. Of course, perhaps people misunderstood the question because it made no sense. "Why isn't McGee averaging 27.5 yards per attempt on every single return, can someone look at the tape?" was essentially your question. Yeah, that's a good question. Lori actually put more time into a response than this thread deserved, you should simply thank her for the info she provided and move on.

I'd choose him too. I'd also choose JP over any of the QBs since Kelly. There's something to be said for hoping a guy turns into something great instead of taking the mediocre/bad guys we've had in recent history. That being said it doesn't necessarily make him better.

One game, 10 offensive points...hell, let's just call him better than Ted!

Vincent outlasts the guys who were picked
MDH replied to ganesh's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Buckley not a bust? The guy was horrible. He'd risk all for an int whether it cost his team big time or not. You think he's not a bust for a top 5 pick simply because he stuck around the league for awhile? I expect more out of top 5 picks than that. -
The sad part is that it will somehow work against us and the Miami media will be calling Mularkey a genius.
-
With Bowen hurt there wasn't an option to keep Baker over Wire. I really wish the Bills had kept Baker over Vincent.
-
The good news is that this a good season to get these guys battle tested. I'd much rather these guys get their welcome to the NFL this year than next.
-
Yeah, I should have looked on the sunny side with this move. My bad.
-
Where in my post did you get any of this? I simply questioned a move that the team made. How dare I!
-
If this was their plan they should have just cut Vincent and kept Baker. Older players tend to get injuries that will keep them out for a few weeks during the season. Coming off last year's injury riddled season did anybody expect Vincent to suit up for 16 weeks this season? So their plan if/when he got hurt was to simply put him on IR if he got dinged up at all? I realize the timing is bad as Bowen still isn't healthy but they knew Bowen wasn't healthy coming into the season (and when they cut Baker). If they thought so little of Vincent that they’d put him on IR for a 3-4 week injury then they should have just cut their ties with him in the pre-season. On another note, who would have thought that the injury to Bowen would lead to such a chain of events? Wire is still on the roster. Baker was released because they had to have room for Wire. Vincent's season is over because they need a warm body to back up FS since Baker isn't with the team. A rookie will be starting at FS (when it's likely Baker would have been, at least this early in the season). A street FA will be backing Ko up at FS as they don't have to roster space to keep Vincent.
-
Yeah, but this smacks of a lack of forsight. Vincent is an old player who played injured much of last year. Was it their plan all along that if he got ANY injury this season that kept him out for a few weeks that they'd stick him on IR and then look for a FA signing to fill his spot? Putting Vincent on IR now KILLS the Bills depth at FS for the rest of the year. If Ko goes down for any length of time we'll have a street FA starting in our secondary.

Sapp is still only listed at 300 and he's bigger now than he was. Granted, I think he's heavier than 300 right now but I'm guessing that was about where he played at when at Tampa. He was the prototypical quick, shoot the gap player that this D calls for.
-
They put him on IR because the injury was likely to keep him out 3-4 weeks? I'm I the only one that doesn't think this makes much sense? And I share the sentiments of stevewin, I wish we had Baker as well.

That was the draft where the Chargers traded out of the top spot with Atlanta so they could grab Vick. The media lambasted them at the time of the trade (How can ANYBODY pass up Vick!?). The Chargers ended up with Tomlinson and Brees. I’ll take the Chargers draft over the Falcons any day. It reminds me a lot of this year’s draft, “How can ANYBODY pass up Reggie Bush!?”
