  1. Webster - Bloomfield college athletic freak 7th round or udfa
  2. Thank the OP for the analysis. I enjoyed it very much. The immediate problem the Bills face is that they need a plug and play RT. They have nothing beyond the starters and it is well documented that the current RT is not getting it done. They need to come out of the draft with a day one starter at RT. Matthews is best suited to that role followed by Lewan and Robinson in no particular order. They also need a tall red Zone target and third down target who need not be a day one starter. Evans, Ebron, Benjamin best fit that role. I would take Watkins but assume he is gone at 9. All the afore mentioned is pretty obvious to most on this board. So how do we fill these two most critical needs? Option 1. Draft Evans or Ebron at 9, then you probably have to reach for the next best tackle or trade up in the draft to get a better one. Remember RT has to be ready to start day one. Option 2 draft the RT and then you have to reach or trade for the next best WR (Benjamin) will not be there at pick 41. You would have to reach for M Bryant or Moncreif. Option 3 trade for or sign a vet RT and draft a couple in the mid rounds to develop. Option 4 Trade up in the draft with the second round pick and the third round pick to get Benjamin if you draft a Tackle at number 9 or If they draft a Receiver trade up to get Zach Martin, Mosley or Bitonio (spelling?). I hate trading up and losing a pick but everyone wants to trade down in this draft therefore the value is going to be in doing the contrary I am sure they would find plenty of partners, perhaps even an auction situation.
  3. I did this draft on fanspeak using the Walter Football database. It's and amazing draft and I would take it in a heartbeat. 1. Gregg Robinson (feel free to sub Mathews or Lewan) OT one of them will be there. 2. M Bryant WR 3. Keith McGill CB (Big enough to be a big Safety) 4. Trevor Reilly DE 5. Andre Williams RB 6. Crocket Gilmore TE 7. A Jackson ILB I would take this draft in a heart beat. There are very few reaches the most notable being Bryant (rated the 47th BPA).
  4. I think that the OP has a point. I would not go so far as to boycott a player with Parker as his agent but I would ask in an interview this question to every player. "How did you go about selecting an agent? What criteria did you use? What are your expectations? The answers may give the team some understanding as to what motivates a player. I want guys who love to play not just play for the cash.
  5. According to wgr and SB nation Byrd is going to walk. No tag no compensation this year. Did someone mention Steve Littman a few days ago.? Whenever you hear the words Overdorf or Littman bad stuff happens.
  6. I like the trade down part. Mosley is my least favorite option. The reason is that he has none of Alonso's durability and all of his weakness (plural). I think the goal is to move Alonso to the weak side and get a stouter more cerebral guy in the middle -that is not Mosley. Although he might be smart enough he certainly is not thick enough. Alonso's weakness is that he overruns the play sometimes and he is not thick enough to take on blockers and physical running backs.
  7. I am not in the Ebron camp. I am not sure he fits in with the Bills from a personality standpoint and he really was more of a Wide out that an in line guy in college. His 40 time at the combine was 4.6 very good for a TE but not so great for a WR and he lined up more often at WR or H back in college. His hands and route running are suspect. Assuming Watkins is gone I like Evans better. Better speed, better hands and better demeanor. Evans gives you the same or better red zone threat. He is a good blocker. You could line him up at TE or H back in special situations. The only way I would draft Ebron is if they traded down and he was the BPA.
  8. Evans, Speed, hands, demeanor, size. I like it all. Lewan ranks with the top tackles too. Evans moved to the top of my draft wants.
  9. I would like to trade down and get Benjamin. . But if Watkins is there they have to take him or trade out of the spot. If Watkins is gone then take either LB Mack, OT Robinson who is destined to be a great lineman for many years or OT Matthews. I don't want Mosley from Alabama because of his injury history. There are really no other realistic choices without making giant reaches. A better O line should mean a better QB and a better running game. A better defense should mean a better QB. Neither of the top TE's deserve a number 9 pick because they have holes in their games. The worst case scenario for the Bills is for Watkins, Mack, Robinson and Matthews to be off the board and not be able to trade out. I might take LB Barr in that case or Safety Clinton Dix. I might be tempted to reach for Benjamin also.
  10. Pettine needed to negotiate a big signing bonus to make this trip worthwhile. Even a long term contract is problematical with the prospect of the team owner facing Criminal charges. Any of you believe there will not be a lot of second guessing Pettine does not get off to a quick start?
  11. Where he is going for the next 20 years it might as well be she.
  12. The good news is that he is compared to Erin Hernandez. The bad news is that he is compared to Erin Hernandez
  13. My Latest effort on Fanspeak. In addition this is going to be a huge UDFA year. Have you guys checked the talent that is left over after 7 rounds? This class will go down as one of the best ever. OT GREG ROBINSON AUBURN 9 WR ALLEN ROBINSON PENN STATE 41 ILB CHRISTIAN JONES FLORIDA STATE 73 S AHMAD DIXON BAYLOR 105 TE CROCKETT GILMORE COLORADO STATE 137 CB BENNETT JACKSON NOTRE DAME 169 DE WILL CLARKE WVU 201
  14. Trade down this is the year that the first round extends to the middle of the second due to the number of players coming out early. You won't believe how many really good players will be available into the third and fourth rounds. This draft is very deep. Trade and then trade again- get picks. Then get more picks. This is a numbers draft. In addition there is no need to draft a Tight End in the first round. Tight end is very deep in this draft. Of course everyone is going to want to do it. If you have to Watkins, Mack, or the Tackle from Auburn. Ideally you trade down and take and take WR Kevin Benjamin from Fla State. Must haves in this draft are at least one offensive lineman, a linebacker to complement Kiko, a big hard hitting safety to cover TE and intimidate WR's you need this regardless of what happens to Byrd, a Tight End who can catch and block (Lynch, Crockett Gillmore, Najvar), a depth corner. They will need another Ol but I am counting on free agency and or Harriston coming back for that.
  15. Kardex is a visible filing system used for applications like inventory and countless others. It was very popular in the pre computer age. Generally the system consisted of overlapping 8 X 5 cards so that only a quarter inch of each card was visible through a transparent plastic "window" The cards were kept in trays in a cabinet and were filed alphabetically or numerically. You pulled out the appropriate tray and could quickly scan the entire tray for the correct title and then flipped the appropriate card for editing. A Kardex file was an excellent manual system and it was the best way to locate a file in a pre computer age. I am certain there are some still in use today. Kardex eventually became part of Remington Rand and was located in Tonawanda. The site of the plant is a restaurant today with the name of Remington. You could purchase a Kardex file in a number of configurations and it was a kind of office furniture.
  16. I think there are some quality Tight Ends available mid to late in the draft. What is your opinion of: Arthur Lynch- Georgia. Crockett Gilmore- Colorado State and Jordan Najvar- Baylor?
  17. I do not see them trying to keep O'Neil or any other coach if he does not want to be here. I can't see Schwartz wanting a person on his staff who would not be totally on board.
  18. This one could happen: 9 WR SAMMY WATKINS CLEMSON 41 OT MORGAN MOSES VIRGINIA 73 ILB CHRISTIAN JONES FLORIDA STATE 105 TE CROCKETT GILMORE COLORADO STATE 137 CB WALK AIKENS LIBERTY 169 G WESLEY JOHNSON VANDERBILT 201 OLB BOSEKO LOKOMBO OREGON
  19. Crockett Gilmore TE from Colorado State is my sleeper in the Senior Bowl and going forward which is much more important. Huge numbers at Colorado State. Size and he can block too!
  20. I would want two picks in the top three for Byrd. I would not want a deal where we did not have one more player or pick than we gave up.
  21. Very interesting. Play pass defense and stop the run by accident --or not. Perhaps we can do better thanks I feel better now
  22. Last one today 1. LB Dee Ford- Auburn, 2. OT Antonio Richardson- TN, 3. WR Brandon Coleman- Rutgers, 4. G/T Michael Schofield- Michigan, 5. CB/S Keith McGill- Utah, 6. QB Logan Thomas- Virginia Tech. 7. TE Crockett Gilmore- Colorado State
