  1. This is the age of the telephoto lens and the internet. How long do you think it would take a "menstrual accident" involving an NFL cheerleader to hit the world wide web? The hypocrites at deadspin would be the first out with the ultra close ups.
  2. Too much has been spent on this topic but I took a quick look at the handbook. Do we really have a problem with this? Some women don't have the kind of parents that teach these fundamental things. Most of it is how to behave in public and some basic feminine health stuff. The crux of the problem is the wage issue and they have a valid point the rest is just fluff. If I were coaching a young lady who was in Sales or Public Relations I would recommend this to her. It's a little too specific but it's pretty good advice.
  3. I am a fan of Crockett Gilmore as well. He lacks speed but he has a huge catch radius, great hands and he blocks. I think he is better than any of the current Bills Tight Ends. Gilmore is not a deep threat but he is a red zone and short yardage force. If Chandler had his ball skills TE might not be a priority.
  4. Larry Webster DE -Bloomsberg Tall rangy DE with huge hands and Clowney like speed 5th round and lower. Also Michael Schofield OT/G Michigan. Excellent Senior bowl Likely 3rd or 4th round guy. Good size and movement skills. Please critique these or suggest others.
  5. Fifth or early 6th need to replace the 6th round choice we used on Williams. That would be a Williams for Johnson trade.
  6. "They agreed to it ", Is not a defense. If someone is, " suffered or permitted to work", then they worked. The concept is simple, straightforward and has been enforced hundreds of thousands of times. The New York State Law and the Federal Wage and hour acts both apply whichever is stricter. The only exceptions I know of are real estate agents and how that industry gets themselves exempt is beyond me. The independent contractor argument is also flawed because the employer exercised "direction and control". The only fuzzy part is just who the employer is. The court could rule that the parties are co-employers.
  7. Your friend is right but you may want to recalculate those numbers. The value to the organization includes the many hours of personal appearances that they do. Plus training and practice time they currently do not get paid for it. When back pay is calculated the suit will have them estimate back pay which is due for about 6 years not just for the five but for all the cheerleaders who ever where allowed to "work" during that period. We are talking about a serious liability both past and future. My guess is that there will be no future for cheerleaders in Buffalo and maybe none in the whole league. If the Feds get involved this will be a league wide issue.
  8. Not a prayer that they are ruled independent contractors. Clearly there appears to be direction and control exercised by the, " alleged employers", who may or may not include the Bills. We may be seeing the beginning of the end of cheerleading as we know it in professional sports. If so the sport will survive but some of the color and fun will be gone from it.
  9. 9 TE ERIC EBRON UNC 41 OT MORGAN MOSES VIRGINIA 73 DE DEMARCUS LAWRENCE BOISE STATE 109 RB TERRANCE WEST TOWSON 149 CB LOUCHEIZ PURIFOY FLORIDA 224 DE LARRY WEBSTER BLOOMSBURG This is a realistic mock draft. Fanspeak gave me too many options in round one but this I think is do able if there are no trades. P.S. I hope the bills trade down to the bottom 1/3 of the first.
  10. On, "Path to the Draft", yesterday Baldinger predicted all three top Tackles off the board by pick 9. None of the top guys in the second round either because as many as 7 go in the first round. The Bills need to know the status of Harrison before the draft because they may need to burn a draft choice to move up in the first round or acquire a later first (either by trade up or down) to get any Tackle who is capable of starting right away at all.
  11. Some people believe that when Jacobs purchased the Bruins he did it primarily to protect the concession contract at the Garden. I do know for a fact many of the Bruins fans were not crazy about his ownership and several very negative stories once appeared in the Boston press. All of that is ancient history of course and the press and the fans have been positive since the Bruins have been champions or near champions. I do not pretend know his level of attachment to the current Bruins but I would bet that should they be sold now it would be a record breaking deal. Buying low and selling high is always a good idea.
  12. I like the Ebron and the Schofield picks. Not crazy about Sam - really don't care who he sleeps with just does not seem to fit the 4-3 and Hughes has the same skills. I am ok with a Guard at pick 41 but I would rather they made a move up for a Tackle or TE or down for extra picks. I do not agree on Lewan I like him at pick 9 if Ebron is not the guy. The reason I like Lewan is that he has very impressive mobility when pulling and the Bills have the RB's to capitalize on that he can also flip to LT in the event of injury. I do think we will see a RB in the mid rounds. I would take Webster- DE from tiny Bloomfield college with a late pick if we get another 6th round or the 7 round pick if he is still there. You know at least one DB is going to be drafted. At the end of the day after the equivalent of 8 rounds (including compensatory picks) I predict that a record number of undrafted free agents will make NFL rosters. Re: Lewan I think the fact that he is the third best tackle option is completely bogus. This is an exceptional year and cannot be compared to others. One more thing we need to hear that Hariston (spelling?) has passed his physical soon, If not they need to sign another veteran free agent.
  13. The concession business at the New Boston Garden is what is likely most interesting to the Jacobs family. If they could sell the Bruins they would reap a major capital gain. That gain could be used to buy the Bills. It is possible that they could keep the Garden's concessions and sell the team too. If properly structured could it could be an outstanding deal for them. Instead of getting all the gain from the Bruins in taxable cash they could structure a long term concession contract thus mitigating the capital gain. The Jacobs family is a multi generation brilliant family in more than one discipline . You can bet that they did not opt out of any standardized testing or select a sit and stare option.
  14. The trust needs to hold a press conference so they can explain just what is going on and what the short and long term goals of the team are.
  15. Put me in the camp that says selling out the stadium Is not going to change the Bills moving or not. The fans abandonment of the team could accelerate the process of course. At the end of the day the NFL is about corporate sponsorship and that is absent in Buffalo. The terms under which the Bills are sold will dictate the long term location of the Bills. The only other option is a heavy and consistent flow of taxpayer dollars which is neither good for the area or for the long term health of the franchise.
  16. No question Brandon is the Bright light in this transition group.
  17. Something tells me that Spikes is going to be an interview favorite this year. Something also tells me he is going to be one and done here.
  18. Actually I think Evans will be gone by 9. I expect that Robinson and Mathews will also be gone. I would hate to see them trade up at 9. I think a move up with their second and third pick might be the best option for them in terms of acquiring value.
  19. Chicago market is huge, Phoenix huge, San Francisco Huge. Baltimore is much larger than Buffalo, Philadelphia Huge. Pittsburgh is much larger. Green Bay is close to Buffalo but they have unique ownership structure which can no longer be duplicated. In addition the average household income In Buffalo pales in comparison just about every other city in the league. Even If you take the smallest market both population and economic Buffalo does not match up well.
  20. At 130 million in cap the difference is 13 million dollars which is 3-4 very good players. That is not counting all the tricks they play with deferred comp and bonus you know that the big markets have a lot of wiggle room. It may not be as extreme as baseball but the big money franchises finish on top more often than not.
  21. If the Bills move we will all get over it. It won't happen soon. What actually has me more concerned. I want to hear from them just who is in charge.? What authority does Brandon have? Is he in complete control or are the financial people in control? Are we going to keep our good players and compete for free agents? Are we going to strip the franchise of payroll to make it more attractive to new buyers? The franchise needs stability or the fans will go away and in that event contract or not the franchise will die a slow death after 7 years of mismanagement they will leave and only the dedicated few will care. This franchise has a huge storm cloud hanging over It and the longer It goes without being addressed the more likely that there is a plan and it's not favorable to the local fan base.
  22. Littman scares me to death. There are already rumors of a rift between the old and new leadership.
  23. Yes we mourn but this is not the death of an ordinary citizen. The situation is similar to that of a head of state or a great corporation. The king is dead give him his due but long live the king/queen. The mourning period and the transition must be as seamless as possible. I am sure that there is a plan in place. The sooner we know it the better for everyone. A great man has passed we will never forget him. "What is next?"4 Is a very legitimate question
  24. I am thinking the Bills have to be prepared for a scenario where all of the QB prospects drop out of the top 8 picks. At first this would appear to be a disaster. The possibilities of a trade up to number nine to get the pick of the litter for one of the more needy teams would be great. The worst thing that could happen to the Bills is that the BPA at 9 is a DB and no one wants a QB at 9 or higher. The QB fall could happen and indeed did happen last year.
  25. I would not worry about signing Britt. I fully expect him to be a Panther.
