2nd Half Thread - Week 17 - Bills at Fins
ShipUPride replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Don't worry... We have a QB who can carry this team on his back? -
Hello all, I'm a single father of two, 2-year old twins. We live in Maryland and I want to give them a first Bills game experience. I'm planning to bring them up for the Bills/Lions preseason game. I figured a little tailgate, and expect to leave before half-time. Any advice from others that have brought toddlers to a game?

Can we all stop pretending that Marrone quit?

I think it's pretty clear that Terry wrote him a 4 million dollar check and showed Doug the door. To be polite they let him "quit". -
Ball Placement after "The Catch"
ShipUPride replied to Tu-Toned's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Can't challenge in last 2 minutes... and even if we could, we didn't have any time outs. I agree with the premise of this email, the spot was bad... but no way could we challenge. -
More bills fans than I noticed while watching the game on TV

Not to be negative about Woods
ShipUPride replied to ColdBlueNorth's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
From what I could see on the slow-mo replay, somehow Wood's arm got caught in the defender's jersey and he thought the defender wasn't letting go. He overreacted to misinformation. From the defender's side, I do not believe he did anything wrong. Our rookie, however, deserved to be ejected. -
Warren sapp slams J Byrd on NFLN
ShipUPride replied to taglientep's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Byrd is average at best. Is he a ball hawk? Yes. But that's all he does. -
Agreed. We'll see if it turns into results in the Win Loss column... but the past decade has been a "We're improving, we are shooting for the playoffs, we expect to be better" instead of "We have one goal, and that is to win the Superbowl... every year."

First they start it Thursday night and it runs until midnight. Then they steal my Friday night too. Now they logjam the picks with BS tributes. The Bills selected 78 about 10 min ago and we still don't know who it is!

Bills hire Doug Marrone to be Head Coach

Love the choice! I want a coach! And I think we just got one! -
Chip Kelly HC! (possibly for the Browns)

Vick is no spring chicken... A running QB in his 30s won't last long. We better have a seasoned backup! -
Selecting a Coach at the Buffet Table
ShipUPride replied to 30dive's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I feel like this is Brandon's first Coaching Search. Just like when buying your first car, it is good to shop around, compare features and test drive. That way, you are not picking the first car you drive because it is "new". Maybe Brandon wants to compare and contrast all of the candidates and then have the group chime in on them once they have met with all of them. Personally, I feel good about that. Better than hiring the first guy through the door because you liked him. Maybe you'll like the next guy more! In fact, there is something to being the first interviewee... if you aren't hired on the spot, chances are you won't be hired. The interviewer will use your interview as a springboard for the next interviews... and all the while will be unknowingly comparing you to the next candidates. -
Simply put, if you read between the lines, Ralph was not allowing the decision makers to make decisions. To me, it sounded like Nix and Brandon were both held back by Wilson. Now, does Ralph realize this? Doubtfully. But I believe the rest of the staff does. In any business, if the CEO is preventing the VPs and Directors from taking the company where they want to take it, and suddenly the CEO steps aside... there is an air of excitement and hope that all of those ideas they have had, may soon be realized. That is what I took from Russ's press conference.
-
Today's press conference provided great insight into the inner workings of OBD the passed 10+ years. This is what I heard: Ralph Wilson was fully involved in decision making for football operations all along. Nix had less power than we may have thought. Ralph is NOT in good health Russ had at least 4 father figures in his life. Due to Ralphs health, change was slow to happen. Littman worked directly for Ralph, not with Nix/Brandon Russ did a wonderful job of redirecting pointed questions about Ralphs inability to properly manage this team... repeatefly stating that it now starts and stops with Russ. Anyone else catch anything between the lines?

I think I know why CJ doesn't get on the field more...

Then put a TE on the line and stop going 4 wide. There are things a good coach can do to adjust to a RB that can't pass block. Its not rocket science. -
Anyone on this site that can say they have never felt like you are feeling is lying. That said, It is also hard to quit something you love cold-turkey. For me, I have found solace in loving my franchise, but hating my team if that makes any sense. I will be a Buffalo Bills fan until I die, or they move. But I also promise to only invest 3 hours per week in the team, meanwhile devoting any other time to the franchise (including its fans). I set expectations very low, and don't expect them to ever rise. That's how I survive.

stevie johnson presser says it all
ShipUPride replied to HumbleAndHungry's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I just listened to Stevie's Post Game press conference on BB.com and what I take from it is that the Offense has lost faith in Chan calling the plays, and the booth sending good info to the sidelines. SJ wants the plays called on the field (Fitz) and references that in years passed, Fitz had more control over the playcalling on the field with good success (is it possible this was pre-Redskins game last year and it was taken away after his rib injury?) It also seems that when SJ refers to Fitz calling the plays on the field, they did move the ball (I.E. Touchdown drive). Is it possible the Fitz is better at calling his own plays than Chan calling in the plays? I feel there is a lot to be taken from what SJ said in this presser. Sounds like SJ has full faith in Fitz, but not in the playcalling coming in from the sidelines/booth. Very interesting indeed. -
Honestly, I have to question David Lee changing up his throwing motion. That or his arm is incredibly weak. I've never seen an NFL QB that couldn't hit 1 deep pass a game.
