  1. On SportsCenter today, Kiper and McShay were each asked to name a 2nd round pick with "1st round value." Kiper talked up David as a 43 OLB before McShay laughed and suggested that he had pegged David as a 1st round value before Kiper had, though they seemed to think he would last until early 2nd round. He's listed as either 6'0 or 6'1, 225 lbs. but Kiper said he's now around 233. Sounds like a guy who knows how to get to the ballcarrier and set the edge and is also good in man coverage. Sounds like his size makes it tough to shed blocks. Here's a scouting report from buffalobillsdraft.com (a very cool site). And here's another writeup with combine numbers (link). Thoughts? He seems like a potential fit for Wannstedt's D from where I sit.
  2. Our run defense was awful again last year. It's been awful since Pat Williams left town. While watching games this year, I often wondered why teams even bother to throw the football against us. It seemed like they were doing us a favor. Nothing has been done this off season to address this. Does anyone out there think naming Wanny as the DC will change this without a personnel upgrade? There is a chance to upgrade the run D in a big way in the draft. Inasmuch as I feel Sheppard was a big part of the problem, my pick is Luke Kuechly of Boston College. Second to Von Miller for the Butkus award in 2010. Won it last year. Lead the NATION in tackles two years in a row. Good instincts. As a bonus, good in coverage too. He will remind Wanny a bit of Zack Thomas and he will lobby Buddy for him. He should be the pick in round one. Unless somehow Tannehill falls.
  3. There's gotta be a quarterback in there someplace. Also, you've drafted more cornerbacks than Dick Jauron.
  4. Um... He's a middle LB, which is his greatest strength. We need one.
  5. I'm convinced. Tackling machine- I like the sound of that. We need a stud middle linebacker. Haven't had one since Sam Cowart. Chris White comparison is unfair, especially since he hasn't had a chance to show what he can do.
  6. Cordy Glenn and Mohammed Sanu.
  7. I thought Chris White showed some things at MLB before he got hurt. Not ready to give up on him just yet. McGee remains our best corner when healthy.
  8. Exactly what I was thinking. As far as I'm concerned the zBills have one linebacker, Nick Barnett. They need a lot of help here.
  9. I also like Bruce Irvin of West Virginia. 6'3" 245 and ran a 4.5 forty at the combine. That speed should allow him to play OLB in the 4-3.
  10. That was the most interesting thing, that they are still trying to land Bell. Might change the first round pick if he signs.
  11. Funny stuff. Also check out Al Trautwig's description of Amare Stoutamire's injury. Could be career threatening!
  12. Are we sure that he has stopped growing? Trainers can do great things these days. The rack!
  13. I have seen Sanu a ton and he is the real deal, maybe better than Kenny Britt. Very tough after the catch. Having said that, we also need one of the outside linebackers really badly.
  14. That website was chock full of useful information. I was not aware of it. Interesting reading about the two outside linebackers. We are so weak there, one of these guys in the second round for sure.
  15. I don't like Sheppard so I was still looking at White as a possible MLB; a little surprised he is listed outside. I feel that the linebacker spot needs a serious talent infusion or could be a major weakness again this year.
  16. Guy did nothing last year. What did he average - 2.7 yards a carry? He should never play a down.
  17. Put 15 pounds on him and start him at outside linebacker.
  18. This is a guy I would like to have as I still consider our linebacking corp to be Nick Barnett and a bunch of wannabes. London Fletcher would also be an upgrade at MLB.
  19. Nice to see our own Jim Kelly having prominent role in recruiting our new no-longer free agent. I use that word because Williams gave him a mention in his press conference.Jim apparently talked up the joys of living in western New York. Jill helped too! Jim had nothing to gain from this. As far as I know, he has no official position with the team. So he did it because he cares. Jimmy, hoist a cold one on me.
  20. I have been looking for a first rounder for this season. Let me preface it by saying that I feel that lack of a pass rush is the biggest problem on the team, followed closely by run defense. I checked out Ingram's package on youtube and he is very impressive, Very quick. Very strong. At times they dropped him back in coverage and he did that pretty well... and he is 272 lbs! Short arms or not, this guy is a baller! Could make a real nice def. end in a 4-3. Anyone else down?
  21. I will think his salary demands were too outrageous for his talent level. I still have a hard time getting past those drops: last year with Pittsburgh and this year (at Jets?). He is not an elite receiver and should NOT be paid like one (and I'm part of the Ralph is cheap brigade!).
  22. The original word on Couples was strictly a 3-4 def. end and only had 5 and 1/2 sacks this year. Then he supposedly had a great senior bowl week. Not sold on him. Would rather have Ingram or even Zack Brown (also not sold on Sheppard. Can't believe they are handing him the starting MLB job).
  23. I thought he was terrible. I can't believe they are handing him this job.
  24. I agree. Bad throw. Would have been a great catch.
