How many hits does it take to knock out a starting QB? That Ole job Bell pulled against Hali is what OT's never should do regardless of whether the QB got killed or didn't. Howard was destroyed all day (cue the rookie reference) and Bell after 2.5 NFL seasons is slow footed, weak in run blocking, and takes too many penalties. Then again, expecting homers to know what a real OT looks like would be hard. They haven't had a legitimate NFL OT since 2008.

Roster overhaul post season

Can they cut the owner, team treasurer, director of college scouting, and senior vice president of football administration? -
Say what you want, they showed heart today.

I guess if you have no expectations and simply declare it a rebuilding season this type of season isn't hard to take. Set the bar low and anything is acceptable. -
It's kinda like when RW negotiated DJ's extension in October 08 and proceeded to watch the team go 2-8. Predictably, RW didn't fire DJ at the end of the season because it would be an admission of executive ineptitude. Not that we don't know already how bad RW when it comes to him making football decisions.

Modkins showed me this play when we were at Georgia Tech.

Is the goal to think positively or win games? You tell me. -
Right, there aren't any OT's sitting on the street going to help now. But this is what happens (Cowboys too) when teams don't invest high picks in OT's, specifically OLT. You can't get away with throwing late rounders and UDFA's not named pre-unmotivated Jason Peters out there. Buffalo's OT's are the worst in the NFL.

You've got a lot of audacity to say this about a team without a playoff appearance in 10+ seasons, in their 3rd rebuild in a decade, is 0-7, and shows no sign of having the talent to win in the next 3 years according to the owner. Just wow. -
Most of the pressure came from the outside. Tamba Hali abused both OT's all day because they both are not NFL caliber.
-
Howard was manhandled all day and has almost no ability in the phone booth. They can't run outside because the OT's are so bad. They must find 2 new OT's ASAP, and acquisitions like Cornell Green make the position worse.

It's this old time thing called tackling. And you don't have to use your helmet to do it. -

He's playing in the wrong scheme. Both the 43 and 34 don't suit him. -

And some thought DJ couldn't coach defense. Chan's defense is proving to be epic bad. -

Well Ralph, plan on spending 50M+ for a QB regardless of today's result. -

It's called having 2 weeks to game-plan and not 1. Offensive genius Chan Gailey's plan also doesn't call for opponents to run for 200+ yards either, which is what Baltimore couldn't do. -

At least they've got some players: Ware, Spencer, Romo, Austin, Bryant, Ratliff. Buffalo's talent is bad as is the coaching. With Dallas, coaching is poor but talent isn't. They're in need of an overhaul with Jerry Jones who will STFU in football decision making. -

Well, they're not Lions Matt Millen bad, but they're bad. That make you feel better? BTW, what happened to Jairus Byrd? He of the 9 picks in 2009? -
The Worst Decade of Drafting In NFL History?
BillsVet replied to BillsPhan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Parcells may not be likable or perfect in the draft but he spent top picks and resources on OT's in Miami with Jake Long and re-signed Vernon Carey soon after taking over in MIA. When he arrived in Dallas, Flozell was a good OT and they could protect Romo. 4 years later a lot's changed. Finding OT's in today's NFL is not easy with the athletic OLB's rushing passers in the 34. You don't find these guys very often outside the top rounds, though exceptions remain like James Harrison. To rebuild this team, they'll need pass rushers, and that's what Parcells found in Dallas in DeMarcus Ware and Anthony Spencer. Buffalo's rebuild will take a long time unless they devote major dollars and scout better UFA's. -

Hali et. al are moving Howard around like he was one of the three stooges. And Bell has looked horrible on a few plays. Between those guys, they've allowed more blown plays this half than in all of last week. Going to need two OT's soon. -

The Worst Decade of Drafting In NFL History?

Sometimes hard to tell what people are thinking through words alone on a message board. A lot of fans aren't high on taking OT's in favor of skill positions. If I offended, my apologies. I took it to mean you were casting doubt on the drafting of OT's is not the solution I do not believe the draft is a total crap shoot. Sure, guys like Polian, Parcells, and Belichick have made mistakes, but their track record is markedly better than many others. The Bills regardless need a starting QB, LT, pass rushers, and probably a RT. It's also funny to see the Cowboys with all their high priced skill guys can't win games and protect their QB. They haven't drafted an OT in the top two rounds since I believe Flozell Adams in 1998. -

What's your point? That bad front offices can draft bad offensive tackles? -
Not same D as last year - can we put this to rest?
BillsVet replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Biggest difference? The pass rush by a mile. The 34 outside backers have not been able to replace the rush provided by Schobel in a 43. As a result of lacking pass-rush, the team has allowed 14 passing TD's in 6 games. And I haven't even started with the rush defense, allowing 174 ypg. -

Ernie Sims was traded to PHI when DET went away from the T2. Johnson is simply amazing, but he's a #2 and they'd busted on enough around that point. If you exempt the 09 picks who look good, the only top pick from 2000-06 still on the roster is Backus who's OK at LT. That team had more huge busts than anyone in the NFL. -
