Yeah - mine too - loved those two quotes! " I think a guy that controls everything, controls nothing." I wonder if Chan's reading that one? He really hurt himself trying to be the OC and HC at the same time.

That's 1... The SEC is fine - just saying they aren't what they've been, and it's been showing up this winter. Admittedly "really bad" is relative.
-
That would be dominating SEC teams like Florida and LSU?? Keep up kids, the SEC is usually the powerhouse for sure, but they are looking really bad this Bowl season. As for Te'O - I'd love him in a Bills uniform - but I don't love the chances that he'll still be there when they pick.

The question that wasn't asked yesterday
BobChalmers replied to JÂy RÛßeÒ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This question absolutely was asked, and Brandon sensibly deflected it. WTF was he going to say? Yeah, Mr. Wilson was screwing everything up?? -
Can we try to remember that game in a little more detail??? As I recall, we all thought at the time that Gailey was badly out-coached in that game, right? That they won IN SPITE OF Gailey's coaching. (And Fitz' bad play) In fact, wasn't the Arizona win a big part of the "fire Gailey" bandwagon? The Bills lose that game if the AZ kicker doesn't shank a short FG, right? (After making a long one earlier).

"I want"??? THERE ARE NO PROSPECTS LIKE LUCK OR GRIFFIN THIS YEAR. Luck was the best QB prospect in over TWENTY YEARS! More of a lock than even Payton Manning. The only QB's that make sense are the 2nd round types who might be good - best bet is to take two while restocking the gawd-awful LB corps. Right now there are no QB prospects worth our high 1st rounder.

Their OL is also trash. Here's the funny thing about Billick: He's had a big gray beard all year - now he shows up to talk about coaching firings and vacancies on NFLN and he's all clean-shaven and spiffy. Billick REALLY WANTS to get back in the league.

Why is everyone so high in Whaley?
BobChalmers replied to theesir's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
One part of the theory is that Whaley is viewed as having more of a role in their FA and other pro personnel moves, and less on their draft choices. IF (and that's not a certaintly) that is true, it speaks well for him - the Bills have had very few bad FA plays and a lot of extremely good pick-ups (Chandler and Urbik come to mind). Again - I am not saying I know what, if anything, he was more or less responsible for, but that story has been out there. -
6 of the 7 Teams picking ahead of us need a QB
BobChalmers replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There are no "running" QB's in the top of this year's class. Geno and Barkley are both pocket guys. -
Yes, because after three years we need to go back to Dick Jauron's "Tampa-2" 4-3. It's not the same 4-3 we have now, folks.

Agreed - and he agree with others that he will be gone before we can get him. Beyond his throwing skills, Glennon is also "clutch" on a pretty regular basis too, btw. -
It's official, the Bills pick 8th
BobChalmers replied to ThrowingFitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd like Te'o but he's not going to be there at #8. Kiper has him #2 overall, and I don't think I've ever seen him as low as 8. -
Polian has been brought up repeatedly around here - he's mentally older than Nix and promoting his incompetent son is what got him fired in Indy.

6 of the 7 Teams picking ahead of us need a QB
BobChalmers replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's not just the bowl game - his stock has been falling all season - ESPN had him down around #20 overall weeks ago. What the dop in position (beating the Jets) cost them was any realistic shot at getting Te'o. I still want them to go LB 1st, then QB, but it's not at all clear great players would be there. More important than Palmer, Raiders' rookie Pryor just had a good game - 2TD's passing and a 3rd rushing! I am confused - from your list I get 2 QB's taken before us - Chiefs and Cards. Tebow is the factor in Jax. Landing spots for Alex Smith and Tony Romo affect a lot too - I'd be happy with either for next year rather than reach in the first round for talent that isn't there. -
Troup? Sheppard? Aaron Williams? Carrington? I know - you've probably already blocked them out of your mind. Poor drafting is <50% of your 1-3 rd rounders looking like good starters. I give Carrington some credit because he's really been screwed over by the coaching staff moving him all over. Glenn looks like Nix's first good 2nd rounder. Dareus is OK - but he's arguably the worst of the big 5 studs available that year. Spiller is great but the need issue is painful - Lynch is leading his team to the playoffs again. I give Nix's front office a lot of credit for their FA moves - but aren't we hearing Whaley is the guy who brought in Chandler and Urbik?

Ralph Wilson in town according to Sullivan's Twitter
BobChalmers replied to TheFunPolice's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That would be brilliant, except for your basic premise which is ridiculous. Why would an insurance company sell LIFE insurance to a 94-year-old??? -
With 5-10 potential NFL head coaching openings ...
BobChalmers replied to jahnyc's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Seriously - It's like a mental illness some Bills fans have that forces them to believe the team won't spend money when the evidence has been there that they often (albeit not always) will. -
good measuring stick for Geno Smith

Like Mike Mularkey? Or do we not think he was ambitious and confident? He was defintely a bright hot-shot OC. Gregg Williams was young, confident and ambitious. He was not all that bright and full of ****, but he was confident.

Really good point - that's actually very significant. Companies and rich elderly are dumping left and right - whatever the final result on taxes, all the money is betting there will be significant increases in estate and capital gains taxes. -
You are severely underestimating how badly this team needs help at LB, and sorry, but taking 3 QB's is silly - it's not likely you'd even find out which of the three you got was any good (if any). As for WR's - good QB's make WR's look a lot better - we'll all be amazed how good some of the Bills' WR's look when they stop having most of their passes thrown behind/too high/in the turf. Hard not to like how the Redskins did it last year - picked up a second good QB in the 4th. Unfortunately there isn't a 1st-rounder likely to be aa sure a thing as Griffin (much less Luck - the surest QB pick in 20+ years)) this year. Two defensive coordinators and two schemes couldn't make these LB's lookl like NFL players. You see them often in the right position to make a play, and they simply can't move fast enough to do it, or are too weak to take on even blocks from RB's. It's got nothing to do with coaching when you see that happen play after play.
