Both games are available for the 360 as well (as is Dead Space and CoD) for those following the thread with an Xbox instead of PS3. I haven't played RDR yet, but some coworkers have it and love it.

Dead Space for $10 - creepiest game I've ever played. I could only play for 30-45 minute sessions before I had to pause and relax for a few minutes. It's very intense, especially on your pj screen. If you have surround sound, it makes excellent use of that too! http://slickdeals.net/permadeal/35752/dead...ps3-or-xbox-360

You're a chef. Why would spending $800 at a grocery store be out of the ordinary? -
Mozy does that too. And the original backup does take awhile - but after that it's fast. Only done a few spot tests on restores and they worked; the only time I'll really need it is if my house burns down or someone breaks in and steals everything since I backup to a server in the house every day, but for $50/year, it's worth it, IMHO.
-
Why don't you like Mozy anymore? I haven't seen any changes with it for the couple of years I've had it, and it does what it's supposed to (much cheaper than that crappy RackSpace solution . Errr, wait... I own stock in that company. Nevermind - buy the Rackspace solution, PLEASE!!! ).

This would only happen while the VM was running. IF you're only using Office for 5 minutes, you start up your VM, do your work, then shut the VM down. Wouldn't have taken much battery at all...

Cops in Ohio can write speeding tickets
Fezmid replied to BLZFAN4LIFE's topic in Off the Wall Archives
That's nice, but doesn't always happen. I've only had two tickets in my life. Was going 85 in a 65 for the first one - totally my fault (wasn't driving unsafe - Minnesota is flat, and there was no traffic around, but that's fine). Second time I had the cruise control set to 69 in a 65, driving in the middle lane. Cop pulls me over and said I was doing 75. I wasn't and I told him as much. He told me my speedometer must be wrong (nevermind the fact that it says the same thing as the GPS when I use it ). To this day I think I should've fought it -- but I didn't because I couldn't get off of work (was leaving the company and I doubt they'd let me take a vacation day to go to court a few days before my last day). This law makes it sound like I wouldn't have even had a shot at challenging it in court. -
Dark night for the 'Painter of Light'

Wow.... Good to see you have an opinion on the topic! I have a Kincaid painting in my living room. I think they look pretty cool. Is it deep thinking art? No. Is it going to be worth thousands? No. Does it look nice on a wall? Sure does. http://www.thomaskinkade.com/magi/servlet/...amp;menuNdx=0.5 -
Exactly! I'll again point out the fact that the Patriots* were out and out cheating for YEARS, but nothing was "proven" and all of the evidence was destroyed. Doesn't seem to have harmed the NFL's image at all, does it? In fact many people say, "No big deal, even if it's true!" So how hard would it be to tell the head ref, "Go ahead and make a holding/non-holding call 2 or 3 times per game in favor of team X?" Heck, most people would say, "If you can't overcome a few bad calls in a game, then you don't deserve to win!" I've seen people post that here! It'd be easier to nudge games than you think.

Was anyone here at Superbowl 25?
Fezmid replied to Glass To The Arson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He rosened our Superbowl victories! I wasn't at the games - but my parents did rent a big screen TV for the entire playoff run. The thing was big (even by today's standards). Everyone came over to our place to watch the games - it was awesome. Except the ending.... -
Exactly. Games aren't "fixed," but they are nudged a certain way -- and that doesn't take everyone to be collaborating to pull off. Everyone says that the outcome of a game hinges on just a few plays -- easy for a single ref to call/not call 3-4 plays per game to give one team a pretty big advantage. Everyone saying, "It's human nature," or "coincidence," can't at the same time say, "It's impossible - too many people." How long did it take the Patriots* cheating to come out, and that was an entire organization (and was never proven!).

Nfl sunday ticket; Who's signing up?
Fezmid replied to Clippers of Nfl's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
A few years ago I know you could buy "week by week." It was pretty expensive overall though - something like $30/week. Might be worth it for people who only want to watch a few weeks though. You'd have to call them up to see if they still offer it. -

Some people like to watch other teams too -- especially if you're in fantasy football. -
Only problem (and I'm sure we all know it) is that being "told" what to do does not constitute leadership...
-
I don't believe games in the NFL are outright fixed -- but I do believe that the league tries to push results a certain direction by giving favorable calls to the teams they want to win and overlooking things that would help the team they don't care about. Let's face it, the league doesn't care if Buffalo is in the playoffs. Now watch our games - how many calls go our way? How many calls go against us to help the other team? As for "interesting," how is it not a great story that after 9/11, the PATRIOTS rise to the top? After Katrina the NEW ORLEANS Saints rise to the top? That Manning, the poster child for the league, is on the top? Heck, that the Buffalo Bills go to *4* straight Super Bowls!

That $100 fee for HD is gone this year.... -

I agree -- but it's a lot easier than $2500. Some people still think that an HDTV is a really expensive luxury item, and it's not -- it's the same price as 'regular" TVs were years ago. -

Why $1,500? HDTVs aren't very expensive nowadays... You can get a 42" TV (which will be roughly the same height as a 32" tube, only wider) for ~$700 or less. Or you could use the DirecTV HD DVR for $6/month... Saving you $699-$899. You can plug a harddrive into the SATA port on the back (or open the box and put your own new drive in) and expand your recording capabilities easier than with the TiVo. Plus, you'll save electricity because you won't need the SD TiVo and the DTV receiver both running. The new dish and installation is free, but you would be paying $10/month for the HD service. However your current receivers (and TiVo) will work fine on your SDTVs. I count $700 + $16/month.... That's still a chunk of change, and I know what you mean when you say your current TV works (I wrestled with that myself a couple of years ago)... But it's not quite as bad as you may have initially thought -- and you could watch Disney Channel in HD for awhile to make up for the lack of a trip there. -
Seconded. Nicest guy on TSW, and maybe the planet.

Can't write the history of the Bills without Rob Johnson either. Doesn't mean he's going on the Wall of Fame.

Fezmid replied to Clippers of Nfl's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes and yes (for most). For people who used to call and get Superfan for free, it's not quite as good a deal. And it's not as good a deal for people who don't have HD (but come on, it's 2010, if you don't have HD, why are you even paying for television service?). For those who don't want to be bothered with phone calls and arguing with people, it's cheaper than last year. -
I think it's funnier that one of the charges is, "failure to obtain a tax permit."

These guys must be pretty happy today. I bet they're having another beer as we speak.

Which is the magic words are "customer retention," and not "supervisor." CR is usually a completely different department in companies, whereas the supervisor generally has the same outlook as the first level folks.
