I'm not sure if anyone else has seen Kickstarter, but I look around it every now and then for projects that people are working on. Most don't interest me, but this one for HENRI 2.0 looks awesome. Instead of graphical effects, they're using miniture models (similar to old-time filmmaking). They have Keir Dullea onboard to voice HENRI 2.0. They've already started filming, and you can see some clips on the site. I think it looks fantastic, so I chipped in a few bucks to help out. Bingo. That's the key reason that, although we're trying out the iPhone at my company, I opted against it. If your company runs Macs, then great. But iTunes on Windows (especially Vista) is terrible, IMHO. Everyone I've talked to who opted for the iPhone at my company loves the toys it gives - but hates the email integration and the lack of notification when you have new email messages (using GOOD; not sure if there are better solutions or not). I still love my Blackberry Bold, but I don't care about all of the games and stuff that are available on an iPhone.

I'm not defending Microsoft as much as pointing out that your choice of words (complacent) isn't really accurate...

You know, Symbian really is an awesome OS for a phone. I had a phone with that OS many years ago, and it was great - true multitasking (unlike the iPhone) and a decent number of apps back in the day. Yeah, they've been really complacent... Except for the Xbox. And the Xbox360. And Xbox Live. And the Zune. And Windows7. And Microsoft Roundtable (which is actually REALLY cool). And the Kin (flop, yes, but not complacent). The list goes on. If anything, it seems like MS is trying to create more than just acquire nowadays (with the exception of Roundtable, I believe). They're not always successful, but that's not the point - they're trying new things. And I think the "cool to hate Microsoft" thing actually died off 5-10 years ago...

I never bet on them to win the Superbowl (heck, they couldn't do it in the early 90s run), but I usually do put $5-$10 down on them to win the AFC. I haven't checked what the odds are on that yet though.

Which one did you have? I wasn't a big fan of the Pearl -- the ball used to break every few months which sucked. The Bold seems really good though -- I like it a lot, although I've only had it for ~4 months. What are they using for corporate integration? They use "Good" here, which is apparently anything but good. It takes a long time to send/receive emails from it and there's no notification that you have new corporate mail. Those are the two things I hear people complain about the most. Maybe there are better solutions than "Good?" I opted for the BB because I hate iTunes on a PC, and didn't want to have to install it and put my credit card information into it (corporate requirement for the iPhone). That, and I wasn't a fan of the interface of the 2G iPod Touch I had.

My company recently switched from T-Mobile to AT&T. With T-Mobile, everyone had a Blackberry Pearl. As part of the switch, everyone in the company had a choice of getting an iPhone or a Blackberry Bold. Almost everyone I've talked to who took the iPhone is wishing that they had taken the Bold... to be fair, they say that the non-work stuff is great - all of the apps, web browsing, etc. But as a work tool, they hate it compared to the Blackberry - calls drop, and email integration with Exchange sucks. But everyone says it's a neat toy.

Most of the people on TSW may have never paid for it, but the vast majority of "regular" users DID pay for it (and even some people in this thread said that they paid for it). Many people have complained that they shouldn't have to call to get a good deal -- well guess what? Now you don't have to - you get HD for free without having to make a phone call. What's the problem?

FYI - I called them up, just asked what deals I could get, and was given $10 off/24 months (to cover HD), and $20 off/6 months (to reduce Sunday Ticket). They also upgraded one of my ancient HD DVRs (bye bye, HD TiVo... ) for free, and all without a contract extension.

They did allow the cable companies to bid on it a few years ago - they didn't want to pay much for it. As for an apartment - just my obligatory statement that an apartment building can't stop you from getting satellite. If it's in the lease, it's considered unenforceable because the FTC allows it and federal law trumps a lease. As long as you have a balcony, driveway (or window, if you want it inside your apartment), you can have it.

I have a Canon Digital Rebel XTi. These pictures were taken with a 10-22mm lens. The lens was at 10mm, 100 ISO and each individual f/stop and exposure are listed below: 6497: f/22, 7 seconds (my 2nd favorite) 6515: f/11, 6 seconds 6585: f/13, 10 seconds 6586: f/13, 11 seconds 6589: f/14, 19 seconds (my favorite) They all had some minor editing in Adobe Camera RAW - some cropping, minor color tweaking, and removal of an annoying star in the lower left hand corner.
