Replay of Scrimmage on TV this morning
Fezmid replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'll be putting it on a DVD (although it'll only be the first hour, 45 minutes...) CW -
This may be a FFS-type post, but that's ok. I went in the stadium at 4pm, right when it opened. We had seats right by where the players came out, so I waited down there to see if I could get some autographs. There were a couple of other Bills fans down there as well which was cool. About 30 minutes later, a few Bills came out. I was hoping they'd see some Bills fans waiting for them and come by to say hi. Unfortunately, they decided to stay and sign for the group of Packers fans to the left. What the hell, don't they know who their fans are?! I don't know who it was (I'll post a picture later next week), but it was rather annoying. It was cool watching all of the players come onto the field. Got some pictures, we'll see how they turn out. The Bills were practicing in the north side of the field, so I didn't get to see any of the individual practices. Saw some of the team drills when the Packers O played the Bills D. Nothing spectacular, but it was still fun. McGee took the opening kickoff and returned it for a would-be TD (unless he stepped out of bounds, couldn't tell). I cheered really loud and had all the Packers fans in my area glaring at me. I thought (contrary to what I've read here) that JPL looked terrible. He was underthrowing receivers a lot. He tried throwing a TD to a receiver in the endzone when the receiver was a good 1-2 yards out of the endzone already. Overall, he just looked below average at best. My brother-in-law watched the game on TV and the first thing he said to me when I got in the house was, "If Losman doesn't get better, you guys are screwed." WM had some good moments. The OL didn't look like it was making big holes, but WM was hitting them while they were there. Unfortunately, there were several runs for losses where the OL whiffed. Moulds had a nice catch-and-run play where he completely faked out the DB. Roscoe Parrish looked good - the guy's fast.. Cambell looked like he made few nice plays (but they were all at the north side of the field so I couldn't see the details very well -- we were 5th row on the goalline). Holcomb looked decent -- he seemed to be in more control than JPL was. However we havn't played the first preseason game so lots of room for improvement for all of our QBs. The defense looked strong. Didn't let the Packers get too many big plays and put a lot of pressure (mainly on blitzes) on the QB. On at least one of Favre's TDs, I think the Bills would've had a sack but the DL pulled up (since there's no contact with the red jersey players). Julio Sunday made a couple of nice stops. Never heard of him before, but he has a cool name. Once the third and fourth stringers came in, things started to get pretty sloppy -- the last 20-30 minutes of the scrimmage were pretty much a waste of time IMHO. One complaint - the Bills ddin't have their names on their jerseys (the Packers did)! Made it tough to recognize the new players since I havn't been reading the depth charts and rosters yet. The fireworks at the end were a lot of fun -- they were going off all around the stadium (except the south endzone). Aside from them being mainly green and gold, they were nice. Aussie stopped by while I was trying to get Bills players to say hi, so that was cool seeing her and her friend (whose name escapes me...). She was lucky in that she was on the west side of the stadium, in the shade. It was HOT in the sun, but it went down at around 6pm so that was good. Overall it was a lot of fun, and there were a handful of Bills fans that I saw. My father-in-law even saw someone wearing a Bills Paup jersey on his way in! CW

There was a Bills player injured before the scimmage; not sure who it was, but he was in a leg brace and was carted to the sidelines, then later in the scrimmage they carted him back to the locker room. Didn't recognize him though - big guy, so probably an OL or DL. Was it MW? CW

That's what I was afraid of... I recored for almost 2 hours, but I won't be getting it all unless they replay it Sunday. CW -
JP lucked out as far as the scrimmage goes!

I wouldn't say he "tore it up" in preseason... Didn't even lead the team to a TD against the Broncos (in the "Sounds of the game" game). He played well, but hardly dominating. Keep in mind that the defenses are ALWAYS ahead of the offense at this point in camp; defense is a read/react, where offense needs all 11 guys no the same page. That's harder to do. CW -

Dude, it's just a scrimmage. it's glorified practice. It'll be fun to watch (hell, I'll be at the stadium!), but take it for what it is - vanilla plays against a new opponent. It's not really going to make anyone confident or otherwise IMHO. CW -
HEY! I THOUGHT SCRIMMAGE WAS ON NFL NET!!

That 70s Show (according to the quote). CW -
So, who here has NFL Network and is going to

Just because there's trees, doesn't mean you can't get DirecTV. Most of the time, trees aren't a problem. Ask Nervous Guy; I argued with him for a LONG time when an installer told him he couldn't get it because of trees. He got a better installer out and has been living with DTV ever since. CW -

I bet if the installer doesn't show up, you could call DirecTV (ask for customer retention) and tell them that you really want it installed and are thinkiing about doing it yourself but want DirecTV to give you some credits if you do so. They'd probably be willing. The phone line is needed for PayPerView, and also to activate the receiver for the first time. Other than that, it's not needed (although if you have a TiVo - and if you don't, you should -- you'll get a nag screen every day if it doesn't make a call for 30 days in a row... It doesn't affect functionality, it's just really annoying). CW -

You could always hook it up yourself. It's not really rocket science, as long as you're not afraid of getting on the roof. CW -

What day? Friday.. What channel? NFL Network (sheesh, we answered that already!) It's DirecTV channel 212. What time? 7pm CST (I think). It's replayed several times after that as well. CW -

If all goes well, I'll be converting it into a DVD (hopefully next week...). Keep an eye out here (or on the trading post). CW -
OT: I *finally* found a new band I like....
Fezmid replied to Pine Barrens Mafia's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I havn't heard too much about them, but apparantly they tie their music together in a large story that is accented by a comic book series that they write as well. Everything I've read about them references them to Rush. I'll have to check it out sometime. CW -

No, it's not. IKEA has some really devoted followers. One opened in Minneapolis a year or so ago and the same thing happened here. I didn't know any of the people camping, but I talked to a lot of people who had been to the Chicago one and they all said it was the best store ever. My wife and I went there a few months ago and weren't impressed with anything there. I think it's really good if you've just graduated from college and need something to furnish a new apartment or something, but that's about it... Although their swedish meatballs are supposed to be really good (and cheap). CW -
You need to move somewhere that pays more then. CW

Wow, is WM that far off, or is Drew R. that egotistical? "He's Jerry Maguire. Show me the money. I heard they made that story off of him.''" CW

One of my coworkers was finishing her residency, and he said as a general practicioner, she'd be making around $150,000 - $200,000/year. Just did a quick Monster.com search and that sounds reasonable: http://jobsearch.monster.com/getjob.asp?Jo...rad=50&q=doctor http://jobsearch.monster.com/getjob.asp?Jo...rad=50&q=doctor These were two of the first ones I found (most don't have salary listed), and these aren't really specialists either... Where do you live that doctors are only making 80-100k?!?! Granted they're not making $20 million, but still... CW
