44 games with Tyrod at QB - % breakdown
reddogblitz replied to twoandfourteen's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You forgot the part about the wins. * Hotrod 23-21 .523 Everyone else 1-4 .200 * includes playoffs -
Deja vu all over again. Seems like one year ago Today I was reading the exact same thing. A year, 16 games, and playoffs and I read the same I have no idea if he'll be back or not. Well know within a couple of months. I think its far from a certainty.

As am I. I just don't want to go backwards at QB (which is entirely possible if not likely). It wasn't all Hotrod's fault either. Other guys screwed up too. Kelvin in the EZ. 2 dropped picks. A penalty on a play after Shady ripped off a 35 yard run. A couple of big pass drops. Letting Blake Bortles run all over us. I hope we don't go backwards ...

I agree. I hope he doesn't try to pigeon hole the next QB into his "system" that he's not a fit for. I would really like to see us fire Rico and hire Coach McDermott's first choice Mike McCoy. First day on the job I tell him "go build us an offense suited to Hotrod like you did for Denver and Teblow." The guy has a track record of success doing this. The polar opposite of Rico.

I can see this. I just hope our future is not worse without him. We could plan for the future and not start a rookie or 2nd level vet. It took us 17 years to get to this point. I don't want to chuck it in litter box on a possible maybe. Possible maybes have not worked out real well for us in the past. As far as the last 3 years. His production dropped off this year with a new staff and OC. Think that had anything to do with it? Shady's production was down 1.4 ypc as well. Things can always get worse. Be careful what you ask for. imho

I give Bortles credit and Alex Smith and Goff and Hotrod. Even if you think the QB didn't do much, as we have seen, a QB can certainly screw it up. the fact that he got all the calls, took every snap, and didn't fug it up gets Just out of curiosity. what if we can't get smith or Keenum or Cousins? Theres likely to be a lot of competition from teams like Denver, Jets, Cardinals, Jaguars, Washington, We have not fared so well in these FA QB bidding wars in the past. Are you prepared to go into next year with a rookie and a sub average vet like say Fitz or Matt Moore and Nasty Nate? Could come to that if we dump Hotrod come hell or high water. Things can always get worse. Don't forget, we're not in the drought anymore and are a defending playoff team.

Hypothetical - If Peterman won the game
reddogblitz replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not sure. But if Nate couldn't find his helmet and we had to put Joe Webb III in and HE won it I absolutely would start him next week : -
Cool. I'm all for improving the QB position. Find someone BETTER, not just someone else, and I'm good with it. Alex Smith or Case Keenum would fill the bill for me. Also draft someone bring Hotrod back and !et em duke it out in PS. That's what Seattle did. if we can't sign someone then keep Hotrod and draft someone like Andy Reid did. It's not like he is that horrible and we can get to playoffs with him and a bare cupboard. Refill the cupboard. Results will be better hopefully. Dumping your QB that you know you can win games with in the hopes someone better comes along is drought thinking IMHO. I know, old habits die hard . We are now in the post drought era and its about winning now.

I don't want any part of drafting a QB high that has accuracy issues. accuracy is one of the main requirements for the job. Don't We have 3 inaccurate QBs on staff now?

How difficult will it be to get back in 2018?
reddogblitz replied to dollars 2 donuts's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yet a team with a suck egg QB (as i read on here daily) was the 6th best team in the AFC this year and the 3rd best is led by Blake Bortles. -
This logic I find interesting. we have tried to find a QB to get us to the playoffs for 15 years. Remember there have been 16 others like JP, Tuel Time, Brian Brohm, EJ, Kelly Holcomb,, and Thaddeus Lewi? We finally find a QB that CAN take us there and you want to out and out **** can him. I understand he is not the prototypical 6' 3" high draft pass pocket passer. The are are only about 10 good Ones in the whole world. I too want better QB play. But we're finally become competitive again. I'd like to stay here a while. But what I don't want to do is dump someone we CAN win with for a wing and as prayer on an unproven QB. Who is to say we couldn't improve our ta!ent in the draft and FA and do even better next years with Hotrod? I want a BETTER QB, not another QB. If we cant find a better one, roll with what we got.if we do,go with the new guy. Odds are decent we won't since it took us 15 years to get this far. Why not get a FA QB, draft a guy, and bring Hotrod back? Let 'em battle it out in camp. To just throw him away just seems really dumb to me. Surely we're not getting our scouting advice from Tony Kornhole.

I'd give Blake leadership points the way he put the offense that could do nothing on his back and get those big gains on the running plays. There's more to leadership than gaudy stats.
