Zay Jones played injured all season...
reddogblitz replied to Domdab99's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Don't confuse effort with results Not necessarily. -
I vote no for blue, at least this design. I'm not a graphic designer, but my father was and my brother is. One thing I've gotten from them is the logo has to pop. So if you have a blue logo on a blue helmet with just a white line around it, it doesn't pop like a blue logo on white or red. I do see some helmets like this and I don't like the look. Like the Texans. Cool logo, but it's dark blue on a dark helmet with just a line around it. I've also seen college helmets like this too. Blue might be OK, but the logo being blue would make that hard to pull off effectively IMHO.

QB Draft Stats: probability of finding That Guy
reddogblitz replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have a question about this strategy. If you do that, how are you going to know if any of these guys are really any good before you have to shuffle one off to get the next one? Let's play this out. 2018 - Bills draft QB B in i round 1. He plays. I assume you have a vet and Nasty Nate and QB A. 2019 - Bills draft QB B in round 1. Who plays? Can you really judge QB A on one year? So you dump the vet. Now you have QB A, QB B, and Nasty Nate. 2020 - Bills draft QB C in round 1 QB A has played 2 years so so . QB B has hardly played. Cut Nasty Nate. 2021 - Bills draft QB D in round 1. Now you have cutting one of your first round pick QBs. If you don't hit soon, then you got a bunch of 1st round picks that haven't played much. The rest of your team suffers because all your first round picks go to one position that only 1 can play at a time. The other first rounders are riding the pine. Each QB gets one, maybe 2 years. Can you really judge a guy that fast? I don't know. Could work I suppose. Other teams have come close. Jets and Clowns come to mind. Jets drafted Gino, Petty, and Hackensack in the period of about 5 years and they're still playing rental vet QBs like Fitz and McCown. The draftees have hardly played. Clowns, well they go through QBs like a person with the flu goes through kleenex. -
I watched it. But it was gross. The Titans TD catch in the fist half the dude had to catch it with one hand because the Patsies** DB was holding his other arm. No flag. Calls against Titans in first half were HUGE. Nullifying a big first down and giving the Patsies** a free first down after the refs changed their mind. The refs call a few inconsequential ones on Patsies** like on first down, or they start after punt 5 yards back just to make it look fair. Even Tony Romo was figuring it out. He even called out the "Gillette Clock" Nice of the clock operator to stop the clock before the guy called time out. I'm tellin' ya, they're tainted. I have ZERO respect for their "greatness". If they had to play by the same rules as everyone else, they'd be about 1/2 as good as they are IMHO. Whatever. Hopefully Bill Bellyache quits soon and we can get back to real football in the AFC EAst and NFL in general. I believe they won at least 2 games like this this year. And then the refs stole KBs TD.

When Was the Last Time It Looked This Good?
reddogblitz replied to Fadingpain's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As I see it, the team over achieved. The coaching staff was able to get the team to play as a team and BILLIEVE. The practice of figuring out a way to blow it late was reduced greatly. I can only think of one, the Carolina game. Most of the drought years we did it several times. We won close games for a change. The team won more than it's perceived talent level and stats would make one think they would. Here's a stat for you though. Bills were 7th in turn over percentage. Half that is not turning the football over yourself. Teams win 78% of the time when they win this. We have a lot of picks and cap space. We should get a couple of new QBs and talent all the way around. Coach McDermott and a new OC and hopefully a better offense. So we should be even better next year. It was a GREAT year. That's my evaluation. -

If you put the stat sheet down for a minute and look at the result that matters, wins you'll see we were the 6th best team in the AFC. This team did what others (Ravens and Chargers) could not. Win Game in December. We did it with teamwork and guys stepping up to make plays like the Tredavian Nightmare, Poyer, Hyde Shady Webb III, Thompson, Nasty Nate, Richie, McCoy, and others. That can be better and it was. This era of big data and baseball like stats on steroids has lost some of y'all on whats important. Wins. The only team in the last 17 years that made the playoffs is the worst? Criminy Louise -

2014 going into 2015 team was on the launching pad until Coach Moron and Kyle quit. i would also add 2004. We were 9-7 then too (yeah I know the last game) and won 6 out of the last 7. Team has some serious mojo workin'. Then we dumped our QB to go with a first round draft pick and we didn't have another winning season for 10 years. (I hope we don't repeat ourselves ) -
Perhaps. Perhaps they they changed their mind. We'll know within a few months ...
-
I want him to come back to compete with another vet we sign or trade for and the rookie we draft. Contrary to popular belief we can do worse than the best QB we've had in the last 17 years. JMO as i see it....

Just get somebody that can catch the freakin' football and stay on the field. I agree, Paul Richardson would be good. -
What does Buffalo need to improve
reddogblitz replied to Ice bowl 67's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yall need a backup QB that can actually play and win some games when Aaron is out. This is the second season yall have had to waste because you have schmucks behind him. Seneca Wallace? Hundley? Really? -
You're Right. It was FOUR instead of FIVE. In those 4 games he threw 1 TD and 6 interceptions. In his last appearance he threw 0 TDs and 3 picks. His first appearance he threw 0 TDs and 1 pick just like Hotrod did Sunday. Real clutch guy.

Bills miss out on London games for '18-'19 season
reddogblitz replied to Roundybout's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think cancelling them would be good. Where I live, they start at 6:00 in the morning. I had to miss the whole EJ melt down because I couldn't wake up that ear!y on a day off. Its bad enough with Games starting at 10:00 -
If Hotrod hadn't brought us back from 7 down in the 4th vs Bucs or Joe Webb III not thrown that pass and Thompson catching it in the Snow Bowl or Shady running it in from 20 yard out with a nice block from Richie, would Dalton's pass still have gotten us in? This is dumb. You gotta think man. Playoffs are based on the whole season. I got one for you. If Drop Zone had caught that pass that hit him in the hands on the goal line vs the Panthers, we would have been 5th seed. If its and buts ... We made the playoffs with Hotrod at QB. Deal with it.
-
True. Doug tried really hard to get us a QB. He or somebody while he was there drafted EJ in the first. He also brought in a bunch free agents including Kyle, Dennis Dixon, Matt Flynn, Hotrod, Josh Johnson, and Matt Cassel. Guys who had some success other places. None of them worked out (except Hotrod) but it's not easy finding a franchise QB. He signed the QB that was our starter when we ended the drought. I give him kudos for that. We'll see if the new crew is any better. So far they've gotten us Nasty Nate, Joe Webb III, and TJ Yates. Rumor has it he wanted to hire Coach McDermott last time, but Rex watched the Super Bowl with the Kim and Terry. He was in on the coach search this time that resulted in the coach that ended the drought. Gotta give him some credit for that. Maybe partial credit
-
Aren't we mad at Hotrod for disappearing in a first round playoff game? Andy Dalton did it FIVE years IN A row. You know Dalton did what Hotrod did last Sunday 5 years In a row right? He stunk in those playoff games. Get him on the team and you'll probably be leaving games at half time again next year.
-
McCoy runs the scheme that fits his players strengths. In Denver he re did the offense after they benched Kyle Orton and Taylored (pun intended) to Tim Tebow's strengths and they won a playoff game with a TD pass. I want him. First day on the job I tell him to go build us an offense for Hotrod like he did for Tebow. Show him where the film room and tell him to get after it. Use the draft picks to get the next project franchise QB and everywhere else we need it (OL/DL/RB/WR).

I hate quite a few teams. IN order: 1. Cowboys - Grew up in Dallas as a huge fan in the Tom Landry era. My dad sold printing to them and got in in 1960 and was tight with the FO guys. got us a job selling programs at the games. Probably went to 100 games including playoffs. Then you know who came along in 1989 and ruined it. So I now hate them and root against them unless it will help Bills. 2. Patsies** - Those slimy cheating SOBs. 3. Pittsburgh Steelers - While a Cowboy fan I lost 2 SBs to them. Then in 2005 I was on the Seattle Seahawks Blue Thunder Drumline. We went to SB XL and they beat us again. That's 3. 4. Green Bay Packers - Jerry Kramer jumps offsides and it's not called so we lose the Ice Bowl to them. Hated them ever since. 5. Titans - They moved out of Houston and you know the rest. 6. Jacksonville - We lost the last 2 playoff games we've played against them. 7. I root against teams that moved unless it helps the Bills. Saints would probably be second just because they're good and I like Drew Brees. He's the best IMHO.

What does Buffalo need to improve
reddogblitz replied to Ice bowl 67's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think it's probably easier to build a top 5 defense and a good QB than it is to find the next Peyton Manning. Good luck though. There are only about 10 like you talk about in the whole world. Serious question. Why do yall want to run off Glenn? We need good offensive linemen to protect that new franchise QB.
