That sums it up pretty well. Although being a big Orange fan, I'd hate to see McNabb get creamed just to prove the point that Peters was a world-class hoser. Now, if Peters had been traded to the Pats* and THEN sucked big time, it might actually start me believing in a higher power.

Think about it, though. If that one-trick-pony kid can knock down a quarterback a mere three times in the first 8 games, the ESPNs of this world are going to tout him as the next...well, Bruce Smith, I suppose. That's a pace of 6 sacks in his rookie year. He'd be carried out of the stadium on a chariot. I guess the question we should be asking ourselves is "What is the quality of the starting left tackle of the opposing team" for 2009? (Or, maybe right tackle. Who knows where he's going to line up). I'm not saying it's going to be easy, but noodle through it. Say an offense has 2 1/2 possessions per quarter, or 10 per game. In each of those possessions, they find themselves in a 3rd-and-long situation three times per drive. That's 30 times per game, and in 8 games that's 240 pass rushing attempts. And we fans would annoint him demigod if he crushed the quarterback into the ground a mere three times, or a success rate of 1.25%. Debate the probabilities. The success rate only changes a few percentage points. Not a bad living for $25 million. We should all have that first step.

I'd certainly fall right in the middle of this ranking, per my post count. Very fitting. Perhaps 50 posts to be allowed to start a thread is a little light. There are some on this board that have been around for only a few months and have posted what seems to be 8,000,000 times. That wouldn't make them "Media", it would make them.....well, I'm trying to learn my lessons. But perhaps 100 would be better. 200 might be too much. I do like the idea of SOME sort of recognition of length-of-time on the Forum. I've not been here for as long as most, but am starting to get a little long in the tooth. As hard as I try (with work and travel and all), I just can't keep up with the post count of some of the newer folks. Besides, I just referenced Pyrite Gal last week. That has to count for something.

It IS a forum based upon use of the keyboard, and the English language. Why, in God's name, would you have a problem with doing it right? And, no, I'm not an amateur English teacher. I've slept with a few. But I'd fail "beastly23", and condemn it to fast-food servicing for the remainder of its days, or until it could pass the English Regents exam with the phone turned off. Yes, he does show promise. More than your syntax. Learn to spell ("you" versus "u"). This isn't your cell phone. You can complete words on this forum. It's okay....try it! The shift key is over by the left or right thumb. It makes letters get real big. It works very well when you type the "i" key, particularly when it relates to.....you know.....YOU. As in "I". See how that works? Apostrophes CAN be a problem. "hes" should perhaps have read "he's", but dropping that little dash in there DID indeed tire me out a little bit, so I can understand how you might have worn down by the end of the fourth sentence. There are probably a few dozen human behavioralist types on the board that could speak to the broader question of whether ANYONE changes much once they reach a certain age. I'm well past the age of making major changes in my life, and would only be able to do so if faced with extreme adversity or extreme opportunity. Jauron's a lot smarter than I am (and, realistically, is moreso than most of the posters on this board), so there's a reasonable shot that he's going to realize that past trends will likely lead to unemployment. As I've stated in the past, however, I wonder not whether he's going to change, but more specifically whether he's going to develop a killer instinct. (Guess they may be the same thing in a way). When the Bills actually claw their way into a lead in the fourth quarter (e.g......oh, maybe 27-21), does he keep his foot on the gas? Does he keep driving the ball with (e.g.) 5 minutes to go, or does he go for the two-yards-up-the-middle-and-hope-for-a-45-yard-FG? Don't ever get the idea that Dick Jauron doesn't want to win - and DESPERATELY, within his mental/emotional constraints. But he's obviously made dopey risque plays, and they probably stare him in the face every day. (Remember that idiotic bomb from Losman at the end of the Titans game two years ago? That play alone cost the Bills a shot at the playoffs). Head coaching is NOT something that I could do, nor could well-north-of-99% of the posters on this forum.

I'll start by apologizing that I don't have the stats in front of me for last night's game, but I think the Bills did indeed put together a relatively long drive using the no-huddle, right? Seven-plus minutes? If so, THAT'S how it's done. It's the best of all worlds. Eat up the clock, and make their fat whales suck air. It's been a REAL long time, and I actually don't want to go back down this road, but - through the haze of Cabernet - I recall the Bills being up something like 12-2, and Lofton dropping/missing/just-not-making-a-catch on a long bomb. I remember thinking this because if the Bills had made this play, they would have been up 19-2, and the entire Giants game plan of possession football makes one last swirl around the bowl, leaving skid marks and corn as it goes. And Bruce Smith goes to town on Hostetler and a team that was just not designed to score points in a catch-up track meet. But it didn't happen. So my point (through the tears and frustration) is that the Giants offensive game plan was fuggin' offensive, and was within one play of proving Parcells and Belicheat to be not so goddamn perfect as everyone makes them out to be. This all having been said, I repeat my point. If anyone's going to find a way to drop sand into the gears, it's going to be Belicheat. The question SHOULD be.......how do the Bills counter HIS plan? That Pats* offense is built to score points (sorry for the cliche, but you get the point). The Pats*defense ASIDE from the D-Line............. Meh. My guess is that the only way the Bills are going to stand a chance is to turn it into a track meet. I don't think the Pats* have the tools to stop the Bills receivers. I don't think the Pats* linebackers match up well against the slot receivers or Freddo coming out of the backfield. Too much speed. The Pats* D-Line has to be neutralized, and if THAT can happen, well, my guess is that there's a fighting chance that the Bills walk away with one. I said "walk away". I didn't say "squeak it out". I mean, they outplay the Pats* mano-a-mano, and walk off with a "W". The shots of the crowd hurling insults and beer onto the sidelines will make my year.
