I think that a minor league is a better idea than this madness you have described. I think it is very innovative, but it just would never happen. The coaches would be pissed, and QBs would never get drafted high anymore because you couldn't groom them yourself. The idea of have a minor league has always been a good one. Maybe have it by division. So the AFC East would have one team in like Albany. The Albany Albinos. White Uniforms. Anyway, that would create an 8 team league that would play games on Wednesday nights. They would have Sunday's as their tradional off day (possibly for "call-ups"?). Each team could designate 13 players. That would make a 52 man roster. They could figure out a pay scale for these guys. Something similar to the practice squad. That would give each NFL team a roster of 66 players or 72 players if they decided to keep a group of guys as an actual practice squad like they do now. The main gain to all this that the teams would have NFL caliber players playing against NFL caliber players during the season. Development is taking place, and if yu have 4 ILBs drop, you aren't signing some guy out of Michigan's weight room/garden care center to fill in...

I think its Fitz for a few years. I just see too many holes in this team that are more pressing than QB right now. Is Fitz going to take us to the SuperBowl? Probably not. With a pass rush, a run defense and some better blocking from the OL will he take us to a 10-6 or 11-5 record? I really think so. That being said, if Chan decides that Newton has too much "upside" to pass on, then he is the pick at 3. As much as it scares, it excites me the same amount, if not more. The kid's talent is unmeasurable. He is like Vick, but accurate. Or McNabb, but able to win the "Big Games" that he played in. I really want Defensive Front 7 help at 3, but if we take Newton, I'll be excited about it.

James Starks is guy that we most certainly could have had at some point in last year's draft. Obviously, the new regime were not Lynch guys, and wanted to move that beast outta town. So we needed a replacement. We took Spiller. He is a guy with super talent, but he can't remember the play, misses assignments and can't block. So, he is rarely on the field, save punt returns, when he fumbles. James Starks can block, remember the play, and hold onto the football. Is he the dymanic athlete? Nope. Would he have helped Buffalo this past season and next season? Yup. Could we have taken a guy like Jason Pierre-Paul who gets after QB's? Or Jermaine Grisham who catches passes from the TE position? I really hate the "Best Player" approach to drafting. If you are building a team, you have to put guys in the fold who are going to help other guys be better. A legitmate pass rush equals better LB and DB play. A legitmate OT makes better QB and WR play. Just cuz Spiller was the "Best Player" doesn't mean he was the best player for this team. All that said, I really hope we get a pass rusher in this draft at #3, because then the LBs DBs and RunD all get better as a result.

All of you people saying he wasn't helping the 3rd team QB, were you in the stands watching him on the sidelines, or did you catch the moments on TV when Fox showed him. Maybe he was helping, we just don't know from the little bit that fox showed us. Cmon people. Get some kowledge and use your brains before making rash comments like this.

Good article by Gaughn on Buddy Nix Today
The Cincinnati Kid replied to bananathumb's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I get what you are saying, but the Bills are not a big enough fish to draft a guy because you think the Bills might want him. We're small potatoes. We're drafting 3rd overall, guy. -
I like Levi. Thats just based on his Bowl Game at Troy and Pre-Season, but to me he looks good. I also really like Ricky Stanzi from Iowa. I think that guy will be a really solid NFL starting QB.

Maybe, just maybe, Maybin can be our Tight End...Think about it...

OK, what is the point here? Brett Farve could have been a Bill too, or Dan Marino. We could have signed Bart Starr back in the day. Big deal.

Bills lack of talent evident
The Cincinnati Kid replied to Albany,n.y.'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Just looked over the Pro Football Weekly Page and did not see this as an article. Could you provide a link? -
Peyton Manning has had Tom Moore in Indianapolis his whole career. I know he is a "consualtant" now, but he is still on the sidelines with a headset on. Manning and Moore and are the definition of stability in the NFL.

We Need A Samoan
The Cincinnati Kid replied to Captain Hindsight's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
"Akin" is a short name for "Akinola", which in Yoruba language means 'undefeated warrior'. He is of Nigerian descent. He is the older brother of NFL defensive tackle Remi Ayodele. We just need some "bad" people who are angels outside the white lines. Like a "Lady in the street, but a freak in the sheets" kinda deal. -

Seen enough of Brohm now?
The Cincinnati Kid replied to VirginiaMike's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I do not think he will be resigned. It was a good effort Brian, but I think Sunday finally showed the Fans what Chan saw all season...there isnt much being offered by Brohm. Levi stays, Draft Ricky Stanzi in RD 4. -
LB's Batten- Merriman-Poz-Moats !!!
The Cincinnati Kid replied to T master's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would be very upset if Poz isnt resigned. He is a such a good LB with very little help around him in the Front 7. I would like that group Opening Day 2011. -
A couple of things are at play here. Merriman needed a change of scenery like a fish needs water. Dude needed out of San Diego in the worst way. Neither side was happy with eachother. Secondly, he has had a full year off. For a guy who is as explosive and dominant when healthy as Merriman, a year to "get right" is really a good thing. Personally, I dont think the Bills would have resigned him now if they did not feel good about his health and his desire to return to Pro Bowl form. Honestly, I am very excited about this move, and what it will allow us to do in the draft in April.

If you are questioning the rule, then that is what I am going to discuss. Since this particular play happened so long ago, I just figured you were in fact talking about the rule itself. Since it appears that you are still awfully upset about the call in the playoffs ten years ago, you should get in touch with a pyschologist. He or she will help you get over things that were insignificant to the quality of your life.

[please fix subject]Whose stupid idea...
The Cincinnati Kid replied to Red's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They did it in order to create more revenue since its all about the money. Also, the guys that one the two teams playing in the Super Bowl do not play in the Pro Bowl. That would just be stupid. And since the Pro Bowl is a joke, why do you care when it's played? -
Grab a football and pretend to throw it. Then pretend to start top throw it and deciding to tuck it. The arm is, in fact, moving forward. Yes the arm is moving toward your body, however it is absolutely moving forward. Therefore if the ball comes out then it is, by definition, an incomplete pass. Its really a simple rule and it just has a bad name. If the guy calls it incomplete way back when then it is known as an incompletion, not the infamous tuck rule.
-
I think it makes perfect sense. The QB is attempting to pass, when hit tries to tuck the ball so not to fumble. The QB arm is moving forward, he has be hit by defender and ball comes out during forward motion of arm. Incomplete. Its incomplete everytime. Always has been, always will be.

QB Draft Grades
The Cincinnati Kid replied to San Jose Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would say that Fitz is playing at a high level, high enough to let the Bills be competitive, which we havent been lately. Football is won and lost in the trenches. Its a fact. So where is our huge problem? We don't have anyone forcing the opposing QB into hurried throws and 3rd and long situations. What we need more than anything else to turn this ship around is a pass rusher. That guy will force turnovers, give us short fields for the O and Fitz and Co. will make points out of it. Its as simple as that. We need to take the top pass rushing player in the draft and maybe a QB in the 4th or 5th to back-up Fitz. I just don't see how it could be any different. We have a QB. We have a RB. We have a WR corps. We NEED a PASS RUSH. -
E-readers anyone have one
The Cincinnati Kid replied to Hammered a Lot's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I have a nook by Barnes and Noble and it is fantastic. I can use it for text books, magazine subscriptions, newpaper subsrciptions, and books galore! Also, each friday you get a free book which is awesome because you are introduced to lots of new authors and genres. The nook is an E-Ink screen, the nook color is not. The nook (E-Ink) screen does require a light to read at night, and they have a handy little book light called a "nook look" that is designed to clip on easily and it does. I havent used a kindle, but I really like the nook for the connection it offers with Barnes and Noble stores everywhere. Free Wi-Fi in store and you can use it for the internet, email, TSW, etc. You can load pictures onto it and make them your screen saver, and it has an Mp3 player with headphone jack. Simply connect your nook to your computer with the USB cord and copy files to your nook. The nook is my recomendation, but I am biased. -
O-line and Linebackers, Future of the Bills
The Cincinnati Kid replied to buffalo_bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I personally think that Bell is going to a terrific RT for us and we are going to draft our LT in the first or second round of this year's draft. Bell has all of the physical tools and is on his way to being an excellent O-lineman for us, but at the RT spot, IMO. Our top-flight LT is still in college.
