  1. We do it when we need to. We played with the lead for the entire game on Sunday. That, plus the fact that Eagles can't stop the run, there was no reason to risk throwing a long ball that could get picked by a free safety or one of their corners. You need to do things that will win you the game. Stretching the field was not something we needed to do, so we didn't do it.
  2. It was Jonathan Smith from Georgia Tech. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jonathan_Smith_(American_football)
  3. As of right now I think there are a limited number of MVP candidates in the NFL after 5 weeks of football. Aaron Rodgers Tom Brady Wes Welker Fred Jackson Mathew Stafford My opinion is it has to be either Jackson, Rodgers or Stafford. Brady and Welker wash each other out because they are on the same team. I dont think Jackson will get the publicity needed to win the award because the Lions are the darlings of the NFL, the Pats are the Pats and Rodgers is the biggest name in the sport right now, but Jackson is every bit as deserving of the MVP. Its our job as Bills fans to spread the word! FREDDIE FREDDIE FREDDIE MVP MVP MVP
  4. That doesnt bother me. He clearly doesn't understand that while he does have Freedom of Speech under the Constitution, he does not have Freedom from Consquence for what he says. Bye Hank. It was fun.
  5. Hahahahahahahahahahaha I got that text!
  6. I dont think we got lucky on that call in the EZ vs. NE. It was right in front of my seats and it was a classic "No Doubt" call. It was a great play by Fitz too. I can't speak for how it looked on TV but I had a great view and I hope Fitz throws that ball every time.
  7. Pretty funny. Clearly innaccurate in some areas, but funny nonetheless.
  8. I would love for them to sign Trent!
  9. I met him once and he was a total ass. Whatever tho, sometimes when you are a high profile person, you have to be an ass. I like Steve and I'll always enjoy highlights of his play for the Bills. Much respect to a dude who got ejected in his final NFL game. Love that!
  10. Great Post Hindsight! Now that I know what we should have done during today's game, I can get on with my week. GO BILLS!
  11. Great read. I was not misty-eyed after Lindell's kick. I was in total shock. Driving back to Rochester with my Girlfriend who came to the game last Sunday she says to me after about 30 minutes of silence "You ok? You seem so quiet. Your team did good hun! They won!" (She isn't the biggest football/sports fan, I'm a season ticket holder and live and die with the Bills). I just shook my head and said "Yeah babe. I'm fine. I just cannot believe it...I'm in a little bit of shock, I think." She looked at me confused, but seemed to understand on some level.
  12. I really enjoyed your post. I would invite you to rethink the INT called back for PI in the endzone. I cannot speak for the angle on TV, but that throw went right in front of my seats and I saw the whole thing develop. I really liked the throw and would love Fitz to make that throw every time. The reason being is that he had an open Nelson in the EZ. Nelson was running to the back pylon and Fitz motioned him to move toward the front of the EZ and then made the throw. Had the 6'5" Nelson not gotten interfered with he would have had a very good chance of coming down with that ball for a TD. He would have had excellent position on that ball because he was coming back toward it versus laterally to it (the DB who caught the ball was in the middle of the field). Because he was coming back to the ball and his size advantage he would have been able to catch the ball at the highest point. I personally believe that Nelson makes that play. As I said, I would invite Fitz to make that play every time in the same/similar situation.
  13. I just don't understand why more people are thinking about this like PTR. I agree with you buddy.
  14. I think you can take the yards or the time if you are the Defense. They chose the yards. The defensive penalty is probably the same thing. You can take the 1st down or the time run-off. We took the 1st down.
  15. Umm...not for nothing but Byrd was a corner at Oregon...
  16. Byrd is everywhere out there. He was in position to make a play on the ball on Wilson's INT, he escorted Drayton into the Endzone, he made tons of tackles and had a few pass break-ups as well. His best play was the pass breakup with his right hand fully extended...looked like Inspector Gadget arms. Great player for the Bills secondary. He'll start getting more picks again too. I have full confidence of that.
  17. I like your post HIndsight. For me, in hindsight, I should have brought a pop-up tent for the parking lot tailgate because it was hot out there yesterday.
  18. I think you missed the point of my original response that I sent to the lady who wrote the article. My point, and what I was trying to express, is that True Fans will be Fans and Fanatical about their team when they are on top or on the bottom. Many of us Bills fans are exactly that way. And, yes, I would most likely use my words in a tame and civilized way. I don't take crap from anyone either, but I also know where to draw the line. She didn't call any of us any names or four-letter words. She wrote a letter to Bills fans about how she feels about us. She manipulated us, absolutely, and she was wrong to do so, but that does not warrant anyone verbally abusing someone for their opinion, regardless of how they came to it. I did not call you nor anyone else "not a real fan." Again, my point to her, and now you, is that true fans are there for the good times as well as the bad. That is all I was trying to express.
  19. Requiem for a Dream or Pirates of the Caribbean Theme.
  20. Thanks. I was just trying to express how real fans act and behave. Not how Fair-weather fans jump on bandwagons and then jump again just as fast.
  21. Ms. Jennifer Gish I just read your "article." All I can say is that I am a life long Bills fan, and at 25 years old, I have not seen too much success for my beloved Bills. That being said, the very word "fan" is short for "Fanatic" which is what myself and many others are when it comes to the Bills or any other team for that matter. Are we excited about being 2-0? Absolutely. Aren't you and your fan base pumped about being 2-0? Or has it gotten to be the norm that little things are no longer appreciated? When you are a fan of a team you are a fan through thick and thin. You believe in your team and you support them no matter what. Its like getting married. You love him or her for better or for worse. Just because the Bills have been admittedly awful for much of my life does not mean that I will forget about them and then come running back when they are worth watching. I have been a season ticket holder for the last three years; right out of college. They have not been good in the first two but as a "Fanatic" I am certainly hopeful this year will be different. And I was hopeful about last year and the year before that and so on. I understand that your job is write about topics that are considered "hot", but to take shots at a fan base for being fans is just ridiculous. The Bills may not win 12 games this year, or compete with the Patriots on Sunday, but that doesn't mean fans will stop being being fans. We love our team. As I am sure you love yours. If you come to Western New York or read our papers and Blogs you will not find an "article" bashing fans of other teams. Its just not the respectable thing to do. I am not a fan of the Jets or Patriots, but I would never tell other people that they are wrong for being a fan of those teams. And don't come back at me with something like "There should be no reason to be wrong for liking those teams. They're good teams." They are now. They have not always been and and they will not always be good teams. Its just the way of the NFL and sports in general. Heck, even the Yankees miss the playoffs every once in a while. My point is, and I am not sure you will even read this but all I can do is respond, that being a fan is one of the best things about sports. For 11 years the Bills have missed the playoffs. For as long as I can remember my Monday mood from September to January has been determined by the Bills' play on the previous Sunday. My optimism on Friday's is always a the highest level. I am a realist and realize that 10 wins this year would be extraordinary for the Bills based on our recent failures. However, as a fanatic, I expect to win every game. And each loss hurts just as much as "Wide Right" any other loss. But to be in love with my Bills is the greatest thing about each day. They are my team in my favorite sport. Im not wrong for that. Im not wrong for being optimistic. Im not wrong for believing there is a chance for us to win every game. Its what is great about sports. "Fandamonium" in Buffalo is unlike anything else. I am just sorry that you've never experienced it and that you seem to be too close minded to try it out. And just because we play 1 game in Toronto does not take away our claim as New York's Only Team. 1 game in Toronto is better than 8 in New Jersey. Just my response to Jenn. I sent it a few minutes ago. Not expecting to hear back from her, but, as I said, all i can do is respond.
  22. Merriman has been excellent in the first two games. Everything starts in pass rush when you've stopped the run and made a team 1 dimensional. Take care of priority 1 before taking care of priority 2.
  23. I really don't think Stevie will, but I think he has the potential to pull a Vincent Jackson. I really don't want that. He is too good and worth the pay day. Fitz, in my mind has proven he is the guy around here for the next 6-8 years. He is 28 I think, so we get him under contract until he is 34-36 years old and we'll be ok. We have Thigpen for a few years and then 3-4 years down the road we draft and groom a QB for 3-4 years. Freddie deserves a pay raise. If he does not get a new contract he should hold out next year. I would not have any problem with that. He is deserving and should use the only leverage he has in order to get paid. Since he is only in his third year of carrying the load I can see him playing for 3-4 more years. Maybe not as the featured back down the road, but certainly as the 3rd down back.
  24. I posted this in another thread, but if I were Chan I would want Scott and Searcy playing just about every snap on D. We need guys who can cover first and then be useful against the run more than guys who can play the run and be useful against the pass. I would have Scott and Searcy playing 5-7 yds off the ball on every play. Go ahead and pass to your TEs we have our big safeties in there. Go ahead and run with your mediocre at best run game. We have our big safeties in there to fill holes. I think that would work. So our starting D Dareus Williams Edwards Barnett Merriman/Davis Scott Wilson Byrd Florence McKelvin A. Williams
