Just out of curiosity, how does one come to the conclusion that smoking regular weed makes someone act absolutely out of their mind?

March 29th is a big day for the Bills

Hmmmm I wonder what that factor might be. I just can't...quite....put my finger on it. Interesting take. -
That looks like it may be a veteran minimum deal. Not bad.

Comparing Jackson and Taylor is pure laziness. Their similarities start and end with "QB who is also a dynamic running threat." Everything past that is very different. -
How loosely do we want to use the word quality? For a midseason cast off, Deonte Thompson wasn't bad but...I'm inclined to agree with you
-
Bodine is bad. But they do need someone to fill the backup C/LG role Groy filled last year, so whatever. Works for me. Newhouse is essentially replacing Seantrel Henderson as a depth tackle

Cover 1:. 5 Reasons Lamar Jackson is the Bills Target
JM57 replied to PIZ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I didn't think that was the case at all. It's just a comparison many of us make quickly and subconsciously. You see a run first QB and you go "oh yeah, Mike Vick, Tyrod Taylor, Lamar Jackson" or whatever. I read something back in the fall or early winter, I want to say about the Houston Rockets, where the GM has basically acknowledged this happens and challenged the evaluating staff to take the traits of the player and compare them to someone different. Ex) if you were evaluating Danny Amendola, don't tell me he is Wes Welker, tell me he is Jamison Crowder. Just something to really challenge the minds of the player personnel evaluators. If I was the Bills, I hope he falls to #12 and would be happy to take him there. Before the Cordy Glenn trade happened I had already kind of fallen into a mindset where I would rather trade up to the mid-teens for Jackson than all the way up the board and give up a ton. -

That's generally what you do when your receivers suck and you have the ability to do so... -

Truthfully, TT and Jackson have only 2 football traits in common; their position and their ability to run. Not trying to start any type of discussion around race, but if either TT or Jackson were white, I don't think we'd be comparing them against each other nearly as much. Jackson isn't an upscale TT to me. The similarities end at "wow this QB can really run well." He has much more natural ability as a QB. Stronger arm, better processing, etc. He did run at Louisville quite a bit, but that may have come down to the other 10 guys on the field with him more than anything else. When he did hang tight in the pocket, he showed he can make all the big time throws. He struggled a bit with accuracy at Louisville, which is always a concern, but none of these QBs are perfect. To me, his surrounding cast at Louisville was putrid--no one has been drafted off that offense since he became the starter--and he made the most of it. I think with time and proper coaching, he could be just as good as the others. -
Agreed. 3 year deal, maybe a 4 year deal at most. They can get out after 2020 for a $5.2 mil dead cap hit and save $5.6 million or thereabouts, plus the full savings in 2022. If they did it after year 4, it would be a dead cap hit of $2.6 million and a savings of about $8 million.

This was my guess the other day, but I made that guess assuming KW wouldn't be back. Very interesting that no numbers are out yet.

You can only get a good QB in the top 3

Not a single deal signed or acquired by a QB needy team between would preclude those teams from taking a QB. Every single one was short term deal. Let's revisit. Browns (#1/4) - Tyrod Taylor: 1 year, $10 million Broncos (#5) - Case Keenum: 2 years, $36 million Jets (#6) - Josh McCown: 1 year, $10 million and Teddy Bridgewater: 1 year, up to $15 million Cardinals (#15) - Sam Bradford: 1 year, $20 million Look at those long term deals! Sitting on your hands and waiting to see what comes to you is a surefire way to have other teams who have the same desire for a QB to jump you. -
Looks like the profile of a true space eater to me

Which metrics? Truly curious, I have no opinion on the signing until I see the numbers My understanding is that Star/Short had pretty defined roles. Even from the 4-3 base we know McDermott runs, Star's role was essentially playing as a nose tackle, shaded to the interior OL. If he did his job, he was clogging up lanes and/or occupying multiple blockers. If he did that, Short was getting a 1-on-1 with another lineman and should have been able to be much more disruptive. And of course, if your "nose" is occupying blockers that keeps your LBs clean to make plays. Without doing any film study on the Bills DL from last year, I would make the assumption that Dareus was playing the Lotulelei role while he was here and that was one reason why he wasn't popping in the stat sheet for the limited snaps he did play. With that being said, I'm not sure that this is a role that you break the bank for. I was livid with this team when they gave Dareus $100 million and then said "alright big man go eat up space" in the Rex defense. Very interested to see what type of contract he gets.

Daniel jeremiah mock has a key Bills message

List of offensive players from Louisville drafted since Lamar Jackson became QB: *end* Completion percentage and rushing yards were a direct result of him having to play a little bit of hero ball, playing with literally no upperclassmen worthy of being drafted. -
It seems to me that there's a bit of a trend between the Marrone/Hackett offense and a declining YPC. Happened here with Spiller and Jackson after Gailey was fired. Ivory had a big dip in YPC going from NYJ to JAX. It would be easy to chalk it up to age, of course, but he really doesn't have a lot of miles on him for being 29 going on 30 since he was so lightly used as part of the committee in New Orleans at the start of his career. I think this is a decent stopgap signing. Not great, not awful. A definite improvement over Tolbert. Now get a rookie understudy for the long term.

Difference between Jackson and Taylor
JM57 replied to PrimeTime101's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Daboll has already shown he can, and will, do this. You can look at the National Championship game alone and see it. Same scheme, of course, but with different wrinkles that played to the strengths of Jalen Hurts (good runner, weaker passer) and Tua Tagovailoa. That's a good sign. Also a reminder that Daboll and Bobby Petrino both run the Erhardt-Perkins offense, so the concepts and terminology would already be very comfortable for Jackson. If Teddy Bridgewater is a free agent looking for a short term, prove it deal, I'm signing him and drafting Jackson. -
Who's your "plate of crow" in the draft?
JM57 replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm in the same boat with Jackson. I think all the tools are absolutely there. The growth he showed as a passer year to year at Louisville was impressive, especially with a subpar supporting cast. I think he may need half of a year to a year to sit and learn. He will need a QB coach that can teach him consistency in his mechanics, but if he can get that I think success is not far away for him. I'd be thrilled to see him on the Bills. Either if he somehow fell to 21 or if they had to maybe move up to the 10-13 range to jump Arizona. In a slight move up I think they could probably keep the #22 and maybe even one of their 2nds and still get their guy. -
