  1. I agree that Wood is a critical piece. When he went down last year, a bunch of linemen had to be shuffled to another position. This ruins stability on the offensive line as a whole. Look at Levitre who had to play center and then later LT instead of his natural position(Guard). While Levitre was not in his natural position a second stringer had to come in and play in his spot. But it is true that Wood is not as critical as last year was because now we have more quality depth to replace him if he can't go. Still, Wood is a crucial piece of this line. He is the only center on this team who does not take a step back when facing the big nose tackles in this league....the only one. Now that I've got that out of the way, I say the most important to come back from injury.... Fred Jackson Kyle Williams Stevie Johnson Eric Wood Shawne Merriman Marcus Easly Fred Jackson because he is the heart and soul of the offense. Kyle Williams because he is the heart and soul of the defense. Stevie Johnson because Fitz needs him. Eric Wood, see above. Shawne Merriman because this team can't have too many pass rushers. Marcus Easly because I just did not like what I was seeing happen to the offense when we lost our top 2 WRs. We need depth at that position. Perhaps. I think that Fitzy's drop off last year had more to do with the loss of talent around him than his own injury. The offensive line was repetitively shuffled around, wide receivers were dropping like flies, the defense wasn't giving him many opportunities to get back on the field(leaving him with the tall task of trying to make something happen without those key players around him). He may have been hurt, but he was still in there. That would not have happened if he didn't think he could help the team. Oh yea, great post!
  2. Look, all I have said is that the responses to this guy's original post have been an over reaction and that the criticism has been harsh. The fact that you have put more effort into defending the criticism here than the OP did in his original post just goes to show how hard it is for you to actually give someone the benefit of the doubt. This whole thread doesn't even deserve the amount of attention it has gotten but the determination here to get the last word in is nauseating. You guys are beating a dead horse. The guy hasn't even come back to follow up on his post and remark on what anyone has had to say. I'd say you you are the naive one here. Life is too short to be taking stuff so seriously. That can be said of the OP too. There, I criticized the OP too but I didn't go on to call the guy a troll or try to insult the guys intelligence(not that I actually am saying you personally called him a troll. I don't believe that I did any such thing.) Seriously, it's Memorial Day. I have some things to do today and my time isn't going to be spent here trying to get people to lighten up. I'm going to a Memorial service and read aloud about the meaning of Memorial Day to large gathering. Then I'm going to be a part of cooking up some hamburgers and hotdogs and spend some time with some fellow veterans. Signing off for now. Hope you guys actually take some time to remember what today is all about and get off of this board for a while too. By my reckoning, some of you could use the time off.
  3. OK. Since you asked..... Really? You obviously haven't been reading the posts on this forum lately.
  4. I get that the OP is over playing the whole "whoa is me" schtick, "the media hates us" gag. But a lot of posters are over reacting to the post with some pretty "out there" comments. Seriously, I really like this forum but man you guys are harsh.
  5. No, he doesn't. I can get the consternation if he was in fact saying those things from his own point of view. It's quite obvious though that he is referring to what he thinks the National Media, as a whole, thinks when they look at the Bills Offense. I can see where the OP is trying to put himself in the shoes of a media pundit and see what he sees. But every post that followed simply bashed him because they assumed that he was posting his own thoughts. Look at it this way. I don't really follow other teams outside of the AFC east so if I attempted to assess how good a team on the west coast looked, my observations might be very similar to how the OP describes "how the media thinks of the Bills offense". Seems to me the heat is getting to people or something and they are getting a bit irritable.
  6. At the beginning of the OP's post he state this is what he believes the "media" thinks. That doesn't mean it's what he himself thinks. BTW....not all media about the offense is bad. Check this out......Linky
  7. Fitz would have to be playing with a broken leg or a broken arm before that would ever happen.
  8. Beat them last year. Could be twice this year.
  9. I wasn't aware there was a QB controversy
  10. I'd like to see a Kyle Williams highlight and a Mario Williams highlight and a Shawne Merriman highlight added to this thread. Kyle Mario
  11. I like Chris Hairston as a possible candidate, CJ Spiller maybe, Marcel Dareus...... How about Fred Jackson makes it to the Probowl this year? Or how about Fitz leads the league in touchdowns for the whole season....OK, maybe that's a stretch but he was up there at the beginning of the year last year. How about Aaron Williams? What if our nose tackle stays healthy all year. The possibilities are endless. This could very well be a break out year for the whole team.
  12. Here is a little tidbit from bleacher report concerning Kelvin Sheppard. There's an interesting quote from Dave Wannstedt and the writer believes Shep could be a break out player this season. Linky This kind of got me thinking who else might be a break out player for our team..... Any input guys?
  13. Meatball and Dareus team up to drive their All Pro NT into Sanchez for a sack. Tebow comes in and the revamped Bills defense is able to keep Tebow contained and force him to make mistakes just like last year. The Bills offense spends a LOT of time on the field and from there read the Senators post for the remainder of the story.
  14. Brady no - This would be like taking a cop out. My #1 priority is to beat this C%#K sucker. Sanchez no - Not in a million years. Tannehill no - You have to be kidding me on this one. Weeden no - Where do you get such stupid ideas. Flacco no - He is not better than Fitz Big Ben no - good QB... lacks more important qualities Dalton no - No NFL experience Schaub no - Not better than Fitz Luck no - no NFL experience Hasselback no - too old Gabbert no - he has a long ways to go Manning no - not sure he would be able come back from his neck problems Palmer no - Good QB but old Rivers no - Good QB but he isn't right for this team Cassell no - no way Fitz is a unifying force on this team. While there are better choices from a statistical point of view, there is no way I trade Fitz in favor of them. Now if you want to talk about trading Thigpen that's different. Fitz....that's just crazy talk. BTW, all of you who would trade Fitz in favor of Brady FU.
  15. So that's why Nix traded up and gave up a draft pick....So we could give give Fred a raise.
  16. Thigpen came to this team when we had that whole NFL and player negotiation stuff going on. He didn't have a bunch of Bills WRs coming to his house in the off season like Fitz. I'll give him a chance to build better chemistry with them. Honestly, a full off season to work with the QB coach and Chan will help him too. He looked pretty lost last year but I think he'll come around. As for third string, the Bills are doing the right thing and looking for a young guy they could possibly develop. Really, I think people here are bit too quick to toss stuff on the trash heap. Kind of understandable....we haven't had a decent QB for so long that we tend to be overly critical of our QB's every move. Having guys like Rob Johnson, Drew Bledsoe and Trent Edwards around has kind of warped our perception of things. I also think that all of those guys had one thing in common....they all lead the league in sacks. All were pocket passers who could have done OK with plenty of time to throw. None would get rid of the ball like Fitzy. I don't know if that can be attributed to better coaching or if Fitz is the first to realize the importance of getting the ball out quick. Whatever the reason, we are sitting in a very good spot right now. No one outside of Buffalo knows what we know and no one is expecting the Bills to lead our division in wins. I am looking forward to watching some very surprised looks on people's faces this year. Personally, I think all of the QBs who end up on the final roster will look decent this year with all of the added depth we have on our offensive line. We all ready know our RBs can take some pressure off the QB too. It's an interesting year. This is the first time in years that I feel confident about our teams trench guys. The big men up front are going to make our whole team look better and not just on offense either. Some of us need to step back a little and look at the big picture. Enjoy it guys. Things are looking up.
  17. We have seen 3 years of solid upgrades to the defense, in both the draft and in free agency. There really is reason to be optimistic.
  18. Interesting. 6'3". Fitz to Fitz. I like it.
  19. Why not.... Lombardi did. Chris Brown Blog
  20. Thigpen will be better this year.
  21. Linky I found this a pretty informative article. It's possible that some teams in the top 4-5 will value other positions over OT. That would make Matt Kalil a hot commodity and some teams may start looking for a trade up partner to get him. Could get interesting. I was also impressed with some of the offensive linemen that will be available in the latter rounds. I say offensive linemen because there are guards that can play tackle and guards that can play center too. It's a bit of a moving target trying to nail down where the Bills will get a LT but I am kind of intrigued by the possibilities.
  22. Not bad at all Astro.....except you couldn't remember our 2nd string QB's name.
  23. Not bad. or The Lake Effect Blitzard!
  24. Why would Miami trade up for Tannehill when he will likely still be there at #8?
