Not really. He said they liked Roosevelt, but it came down to numbers. All of the WRs have been battling it out and I wouldn't have wanted to decide who stays or goes in that group. I'm sure they struggled with the decision, talked about it some more, looked at things from a different perspective and then decided to bring him back. I think opinions change and that people feel more strongly about certain players than others. It is about the numbers, but it is also about opinion. After picking up a RT and a CB, I think they just reevaluated the team as a whole and made some decisions. Roosevelt benefited from that decision.

Buddy on Shredd and Ragan a few minutes ago

Who says we have no deep threat? I think there will be plenty of plays going over the top of the defense. Remember Jerry Rice? He was a continuous deep threat but his track time was far from what you'd call elite speed. -

They tried to get something in trade for him before releasing him -

For those that missed the interview with Nix here is a link where you can hear it. Linky -
Nix just quoted as saying he is a better run blocker than pass blocker at this stage. Maybe we will see the run game improve this year. Me likey.

I honestly think McKelvin has just had some bad breaks and us fans have honed right in and found every single flaw imaginable with him. He's got talent and he just needs to focus on his game without worrying about someone messing with his home. You guys do realize how messed up going to his home and vandalizing his lawn was, right? That's his home, you know, the place where not only he lives but his family. We need to back off a bit and just give the guy a chance.

Guess Martin won't be wearing any number now....just got cut.

The Bills are covering their butts with this pickup....nothing wrong with that. At least they aren't asleep at the wheel. I like it. We go into the season with some added depth on OL.
-
Didn't you hear.....Jasper is practicing at RT.
-
Offensive linemen very rarely impress coming out of college and most don't for at least a couple of years. He is young and could possibly develop into a good pickup. He did stick with Dallas when they cut down to the 53 man roster so he can't be that bad. We'll see. I am glad that the OL is adding some depth.

Well, so much for the Jasper project.

Our defense has something to prove on Sunday
Rockinon replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I want to see utter domination by this defense starting with the Chefs. Their fans are completely writing off the Bills. Vegas has the Bills as 6pt underdogs and I'm getting pretty annoyed with the lack of confidence around here. The players are probably just as annoyed. Did anyone notice Gailey's comments when asked about players having an extra spring in their step? He said they are much more focused and ready. Billieve that. The Ws for the Buffalo Bills begins with week one at KC.....dominance. Anything short of that is a failure. That is a weak division and a team with a weak passing attack. Blow up their OL and don't let up until the game clock expires. -
One of them took some quotes from this forum and then started mouthing off over there. Didn't even bother to say anything while here......what a sissy. I mean if you want to trash talk at least have the balls to do it to the people you are talking about. I know our fans are not perfect, but at least we aren't scared to speak up to a competitor.

At SJF Jasper was seen catching balls just before the real practice began. Can't remememcer who tweeted it(Fitzbeardy maybe), but he said Jasper had good hands for such a big guy

I think you are right that Jasper is built for the DL, but just how is a kid from Bethel going to beat the very talented guys ahead of him. Wiliams and Troupe were locks to begin with. Even Heard came out this summer and played much better than last year. Jasper never had a chance at NT because we are stacked there. Still, he earned the respect of the coaching staff enough to keep him on the practice squad and enough to give him a chance on the OL. This is an area of weakness for the Bills and it seems to me that it could be what is best for the team.
-
Jasper has talent but to expect him to beat the guys ahead of him was just too much to ask. We have some serious talent on the Defensive Line and no kid from Bethel is going to crack that lineup. But the talent is there. Gailey recognized it and recognized his effort. Gailey is simply compelled to do something with him. I really think there is a tendency here on the TSW to read too much into coaching decisions. Jasper did well enough to gain the coaches respect, but not well enough to beat Williams, Troupe or Heard. By the way, Heard has been playing like his hair is on fire and is very noticeably better than last year. I didn't vote in the poll because none of the answers there are quite accurate. It was fun to speculate though

I saw it when he was cut and didn't care. I saw it when he signed with the Chiefs....still didn't care. Asleep at the wheel?....not so much.

After doing some looking around, it appears that any practice squad player's agent may negotiate a contract with any team. If an offer is made, the player has a choice to either take it or see if his current team would like to match or beat it. Really, the player can choose to go wherever he chooses. No right of first refusal. But if the players agent is worth his salt, he will look at all available options and in Jasper's case at least speak with the Bill's before signing with another team.
-
They will make a guard out of him before letting that happen. There is no rumor that any other team is after Jasper, but I would not be surprised.
-
I think so, but doesn't that mean they would then have to elevate them to the active roster?
-
I wonder if the Bills are looking for a place for him on the active roster because some other team is trying to steal him away. They also are dangerously thin on the OL.
