I'm having heart palpitations thinking about this game. If I get any sleep tonight, it'll be a miracle.

I am 6'5" and a shade under 300 pounds, and my mailman is significantly shorter and lighter, so this scenario is actually pretty realistic!

After all the hype videos and listening to NFL Films music, I'm about ready to bust out the door and spear the mailman on my front lawn.

The version of the Bills that showed up last night will show up again next week against the Chiefs. The Steelers had no business being in tonight's game, and KC's performance has no impact on what I think about them in their matchup next week against the Bills - I think of seeing a soft Chiefs team the last game against Denver. The Bills will win next week, and they're going to go to the Super Bowl.

I was at the '07 Sunday night 56-10 beat down by the Pats. The one where they were going for 2-point conversions despite being up 30+ points. I was rooting for us to score 50+ last night.

This is what comes to mind when I think of Hughes's best play as a Bill. Beats, and then gets held by, the best LT in the game at the time (and one of the best ever). Proceeds to track down the ball carrier, strip it, and run it in for a TD. Just incredible.

As far as I've been told, there is an agreement in principle, which isn't uncommon in transactions like these. It's not first-hand knowledge, but it is from a pretty reliable source.

To some extent, yes, I do. The owners are in the entertainment business. That is the service the NFL provides to its customers. Entertainment. It's good for the NFL, and the owners collectively, both financially and for the health of the league, to have as many eyeballs as possible watching. The way to do that is to provide attractive storylines, something ESPN and other networks help promote. TV contracts are far and away the primary source of revenue for the league; it stands to reason the NFL and the owners collectively would want to assure that the networks' investment is protected when it comes time to renew. A pattern of worsening ratings gives the league a lesser advantage when it comes time to negotiate, which hurts the league and owners where it counts. If you want to call that whining, so be it. It's business. Your blinders just preclude you from grasping it. Personally, why do I keep watching? Well, it's entertaining. But I don't really view it as something tangibly different than a movie, a television show, or any other type of entertainment. It's a good bit of fun for a few hours - granted, maybe not so much during the dark depths of the drought years. And it gives me a good reason to spend time with my family every weekend during the season - that's the only justification I need.

If you really think the NFL doesn't play a role in giving overtly preferential treatment to certain teams, particularly after the way the Tampa game unfolded, then you're incredibly oblivious. Your post leads me to believe that you are.

The NFL will do everything it can to assure the Patriots win.

I'm not able to easily discern the difference between the NFL and WWE. Pretty clearly scripted. Keep viewers watching long enough, then make sure the preferred team wins. Win/win for the NFL.

You can infer whatever you think from what I posted. All that I know at this point is in my prior post. If I hear more, I will update.

I've posted about this in a couple other stadium threads. I typically hate when folks do the "I know a guy who knows a guy" posts, and my source is an iteration of that, so I feel a tad hypocritical making one myself. With that said, I am good friends with someone whose family is a long-time NYS political dynasty, both statewide and locally. He's pretty cryptic, but he's been giving me updates. Apparently, there's been an agreement in principle (essentially a framework) in place for weeks. I don't know any of this myself, and he has no reason to lie. This is purely what he's told me.

Where did I say it wasn't a big issue? Where did I say we could "get away with bad linemen?" Reread my posts and then get back to me. I'm not fooling myself into anything - I'm aware that the team needs to work within the confines of the players we have available. I know it's a big issue. You seem to be the one fooling yourself into thinking we can find and/or develop "good linemen" by Sunday. Of course it'd be ideal to have good linemen to run a screen play - that doesn't take much analysis at all. But the point is - we do not. And we need a gameplan with the linemen that are on the roster. Unless you want to pull "good linemen" from who knows where to execute a different gameplan?
