  1. I've seen no indication that Wa doesn't want him. Even if they don't they are not going to just walk away they'll tag him and then at the last possible minute if no one steps up then maybe they let him walk but its not happening on day 1 of FA. They will play their cards till the very end IMO....
  2. they don't have any choice. You can not leave a valuable asset like Cousins walk for nothing... They at the very minimum need to work out a sign and trade deal even if its just for a 2nd rd pick do to costs
  3. Then it becmoes a more difficult deal to sign and trade or even want ot franchise..... I doubt any team pays Cousing $30 mil a season... here are the top QBs before last season... I think he will fall in the range of the top 5.. Which is still spendy but going rate TJoe Flacco, Baltimore, $24.55 million Carson Palmer, Arizona, $24.125 million Kirk Cousins, Washington, $23.943 million Matt Ryan, Atlanta, $23.75 million Matthew Stafford, Detroit, $22 million Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay, $20.3 million Cam Newton, Carolina, $20.166 million Philip Rivers, Los Angeles Chargers, $20 million Eli Manning, N.Y. Giants, $19.7 million Andrew Luck, Indianapolis, $19.4 million Drew Brees, New Orleans, $19 million Russell Wilson, Seattle, $18.8 million Ben Roethlisberger, Pittsburgh, $18.2 million
  4. He would get More than $34 million in a signing bonus if we was FA or was traded .... Again he is better than most of the secondary QB's available in this draft. He is a better than average known commodity at QB
  5. sure because if you tag and trade him the team can negotiate a cap friendly deal and abosrb the $34 mill ++ into a signing bonus.. I think 1 1st rd pick and some change would do it if Wa smply wants to move on and get something in return.. Not ot spendy and Cousins is better than all the secondary QB options IMO
  6. Then it comes full circle to what i was saying.. Cousins is not leaving Washington for nothing.. Cousins will not be a FA IMO. A sign and trade deal or franchised.. or franchised till a sign and trade deal can be worked out
  7. OK then they go 7-9 .. Washngton is not giving up on a very functional underrated QB for nothing... I just don't see that. 15 + teams in this league would look at Cousins as an upgrade IMO. Cousins is a top 10 QB in this league or at least has been a consistent top 10 the last 3 seasons. Where is Washington going ot find a consistent top 10 QB to replace him
  8. My bad they will use the franchise tag not the transition tag... There is no way Washington lets Cousins just walk.. IMO
  9. With the possible suitors and QB desperate teams out there they won't let him walk. Cousins is the surest QB to be had this year. $34 million for 1 more year with no cap hit if he walks next year means Washngton IMO will hold onto him with the transitiion tag or work out a sign and trade deal. No way they let Kirk just walk.. Thats a very useable asset whether they keep him trade him or transitions him
  10. Cousins will at least be tagged by Wa so we will have to give up some picks no matter what..
  11. Yeah caught that.. Just saying in regards to the contract hit it leaves in the wake. How do you avoid that especially with a player like Woods.. You can't without losing face, which may cost us more in the future as other players take notice, so we live with the cap hit
  12. got to side with Tuberculosis on this one. No reason to drag a 5 year old kid into any of this. Most definitely crossed a line
  13. Took us long enough but we found that common ground.. From the Bills perspective, how do you look a model soldier in the eye and tell them sorry no guarentees for you... it was a gamble / calculated risk... but Woods deserved his guarentees.. He was a good soldier
  14. I agree its pointless.. don't know a single person / lawyer who would sacrifice themselves without injury protection... or why anyone feels the Bills did something bad here.
  15. I disagree.. I think they very much are... you get injured and can no longer play, your contract is signed and you get paid. medical retirment is no different than unable to continue to play catostrophic injury
  16. The contrats are guarenteed because they are written that way... A medical retirement is the same as being injured an unable to play. A decision to just no longer play the game is a different story... This is where you are confused.. Medical Retirement is different than normal retirement.
  17. Small minority may have issues with the protest. The majority of issues stems from a generation of people no longer using traditional TV outlets to get their sports news etc... As for a private business it still belongs under the umbrella of the constitution of the United States, so unless we're going to allow each corproation to become its own Country they don't have a pot to piss in this regards. You are correct they can terminate an employee or bench that player.. but in the end that player will stil be paid via what they are owed in contract and that player would become a FA. I would think the majority of fans would be upset if their team was benched for practicing their rights as Ameircans. Now if people are really upset then they are not making that big of a deal about it because overall stadiums are still full and message boards are still busy
  18. disagree .. its pretty standard practice... Name 1 agent that would allow his client to do otherwise. Name some of the contracts that remove money if someone gets injured and can't play. Also what bad lingo in the contract... If any team was to cut any of their top played players 1/2 way thorugh a contract or have that player medically retire in th emiddle of the deal they would all be left with significant cap hits. So what bad lingo are you referring to that is unsual in your eyes ?
  19. You suggested it was bad lingo and why we have taken a cap hit. I think it very very much common lingo.. and the few who do not already have KNOWN issues or situations. .Woods' situation was not known so he signed a very stereotypical extension that gave him some guaernteed money like the majority of players all do. How many players sign contracts that remove guarentee money if they get injured ??????????????????????? Sounds like the one thing no player would ever want sign to play this game IMO
  20. That statement flies in the face of every single thing this country does represent. If you are an American you accept the peaceful protest at its face value, a truely American thing to do. Maybe you do not beleive in the reasoning but that does change the fact that that it was a very American thing to do Those players made a statement, and it worked well because people are stil discussing it.. Mission accomplished Funny how people get upset over the very thing that brought this nation into being.. Freedom of expression freedom to peacefully protest, and freedom in general.... Why should anyone blindly swear allegiance to the USA if they have issues with how the country is being run.. Protests force conversation and change and thats is very much American DO you, or anyone dare suggest a law forcing people to stand during the national anthem... What would be the consequence. Doesn't sound like freedom to me
  21. You should introduce us all to the players who don't want guarenteed money in case of injury... You could field a team with ZERO players
  22. Every team deals with this type of situation. I guess I look at it differently. Woods gets to spend the rest of his life not being a quadriplegic.... Its a win situation.. really worries me that people resort to placing blame for this or are more concerned with the salary cap and roster ramifications. It is what it is. Thanks Eric for the service... Anyone remember that horrible broken leg the guy had his 1st season here. Guy paid some big dues for that guarnteed portion of his paycheck https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eric_Wood
  23. IMO I give everyone a benefit of the doubt but take all hear say info with a grain of salt just the same. but usually a faux insider can be exposed quickly... If a poster is still defending her/his claims 20 pages into a debate that's usually a sign of shenanigans. IMO anyone with real inside info says their peace and doesn't feel the compelling need to debate it.
  24. yeah its not happening IMO... because of the QB run up top, excellent higher rated players, in positions of need, will be falling to us.
