Doesn't McNair to the Cowboys
Albany,n.y. replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It makes no sense because McNair will either be a Titan or retired. He's not among Tennessee's upcomming cuts & he's more likely to hang it up on his own than be cut. -
I took the comments as more like a guy who is the boss one day & asked to take a demotion so the kid who recently joined the company can be his boss. Like-I don't want to be managed by X, I was his boss when he came here. I'd rather manage elsewhere than work here as a peon.

9.17 Million Dollar Cap Hit For Mike Williams...
Albany,n.y. replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Your chart as of 1/14/05 says MW is a $5,896,875 cap hit for 05. Which info is correct? -

(OT) How many TSWers watch Arena football?
Albany,n.y. replied to envirojeff's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
When they had the Albany Firebirds I used to go to games, more in the beginning and finally I was down to 1 a year (against the Buffalo Destroyers) when they left for Indianapolis (& then folded). I went to the most games during the Bills Super Bowl years, so every year I'd go to the Super Bowl & my next "pro" football game was Arenaball. -
I promise to be patient with JP
Albany,n.y. replied to stevestojan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Absolutely correct! I never seen a stat that said "12 year veteran made bad decisions that even a rookie wouldn't have made" It's amazing how much different a player can look on the field from what his stats are. Just look up RJ. -
Here are some details: He's from Arizona & has NY/NJ real estate guys as his partners (I wonder if The Donald is one of them) http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/columns/stor..._len&id=1991023

It seems like Donahoe is pencilling in Losman as
Albany,n.y. replied to Grant's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm sure the decision was made with the approval of if not the demands of Mularchy, Wyche, Clements & probably Ralph as well. This is not the Baltimore Colts where they make QB decisions at the top without notifying the people it will have the most impact on (see as the NY Post called it "Grand Theft Elway") -
It takes a lot of time to compile them & I've already spent too much of today on the internet, so here are the QBs that were available. I'll look at other positions in about a week or 2, I'm going to be too busy this week. Once the combine is over, I should be able to have all the combine Wonderlics. The source is the SportsXchange premium draft site. A. Smith 37 Frye 28 Campbell 14 Orton 25 Walter 24 Orlovsky 21 Anderson 15 Fitzpatrick 37 Greene 21 Rix 22 Allen 18 Lefors 26 J. White 31 Nothing earth shattering here, interesting that only 1 player, Harvard's Ryan Fitzpatrick, was able to get through all 50 questions in the time given.

You can't base where a guy would have been drafted by how his career went. Based on that logic, Ryan Leaf would not have been drafted with the second pick of the draft-but he was and you can't revise his draft status because he was a bust. Same thing for guys like Akili Smith, Heath Schuler, Todd Marinovich, Cade McNown, David Klingler, Andre Ware etc-all 1st round busts. For the record, Flutie was only cut by New England, that's hardly every NFL team! He was traded by the Rams to the Bears, who then traded him to NE. Ditka loved him but lost out when the decision to trade him was made. So although NE cut him and the rest of the NFL passed on signing him, he was never cut by every NFL team-not even cut by more than the 1 of 3 teams that owned his rights Pre-Canada.

OK, Get It Off Your Chest... Who Do You Blame
Albany,n.y. replied to Nanker's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You lost me on Gilbride. Gilbride was Giants' QB coach, 1 year removed from the Bills, when Drew sealed his own fate against the Steelers' 2nd & 3rd stringers. If Drew had played as well against Pittsburgh as he did against the 49ers, there would be no imminent release to talk about. However, once the coaches, GM & Ralph saw that Drew couldn't put it together against a good scheme-regardless of what players the other team used, they knew that choosing JP (who they've seen & we haven't) would not be a large step backwards in the short run and possibly a huge upgrade in the long run. I predict that by next year at this time, you'll be a big JP supporter. You'll have to at least have his picture on the wall at your Super Bowl party-unless you go to the game wearing your JP jersey. -
You certainly know how to revise history to fit your argument. I'll stick to the facts instead. Fact: The NFL draft was held on April 30, 1985 but Bruce Smith had already signed with the Bills on February 28, 1985 because the Bills had the top pick in the 1985 draft. That means that they could not have drafted another player after 2/28/85. As far as the Flutie was concerned, he signed with the New Jersey Generals on February 4, 1985. So-Felser columns that you refer to were written before 2/4/85. The Bills had made it quite clear to Flutie that they were not interested in him & Trump had a take it or leave it offer on the table because the Generals' USFL season began on 2/24/85. Obviously, Felser would not have been writing to draft Flutie after he signed with the USFL & certainly not after Bruce Smith had signed with the Bills. The point you either don't understand or are trying to ignore is that you cannot use where he was drafted in the 1985 NFL draft and say he wouldn't have been taken by another team somewhere in the 1st or 2nd round. You have not one iota of evidence as of 2/4/85 to draw that conclusion.
-
Actually it does. Because the roster bonus is due a day before the trading date begins, in order for the Bills to trade him, they'd have to pay him the $1 million -which would be $1 million on our cap. They would have to get Drew to waive the bonus before the trade & one way or another they feel that a) Drew wouldn't waive the bonus so the Bills can trade him or b) assuming Drew doesn't want to waive the bonus, if the pick is too low then the $1 million cap saving is worth more than a lower round pick.

Felser had Gregg written off by the middle of 2002, said he'd never make it as Bills coach & we should dump him instead of bringing him back in 2003. I can cherrypick Felser's good ideas and make him look like a genius. As Labatt stated, Felser has written a lot of columns in the past 45 years that the Bills have been around.

"What if Bledsoe Had never gotten hurt?"
Albany,n.y. replied to stevestojan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He should have stated this about the Bills, without Bledsoe we win 3 or 4 games at most in 2002. Palmer or Leftwich is our starter, we don't have McGahee because with AVP at QB in 2002 Price does not get traded for a #1 and we use our top 5 pick on a QB, Takeo doesn't sign with us, nor does Sam Adams. We end up with Lee Evans in 2004 but don't make the Losman trade and have a #1 pick this year-which we'd probably be using on a RB since TH would be entering his last contract year. -
You obviously don't get the point (AGAIN!) Flutie was not going to be a #1 overall NFL pick. On the other hand, where he was chosen in the NFL draft had nothing to do with how he was rated coming out of college, because he was already under contract in the USFL. So...by stating where Flutie was drafted to support your opinion, you lose all credibility and it looks like you are not aware of the circumstances involved in the 1985 NFL draft. Back in 1985, I had a pretty good feeling that Jim Kelly would soon be comming to Buffalo, so I was against drafting a QB with the first pick no matter who he was. I was never a fan of Flutie's but I respect Felser and value his opinions over someone who cherrypicks a few bad ones and bashes the guy.

For the record-the fake spike was against the Jets, I was at the game.

Larry Felser in the past has claimed the following: 1) 1985 Draft Bills should draft Doug Flutie #1 overall instead of Bruce Smith (Flutie was not drafted until 4th round or later) You really impressed me with your knowledge of the 1985 draft! Since you were either too young or asleep in 1985, let me enlighten you as to why Flutie was drafted in the 11th round by the Rams. There was this other league called the USFL, they played in the spring and their season started long before the NFL draft. When the Bills, who had the 1st pick in the draft (and already had NFL rights to the USFL's best QB-Jim Kelly) didn't show interest in Flutie, he signed a long term contract with Donald Trump to play in the USFL with the New Jersey Generals. In 1985's draft, NFL teams were taking flyers on USFL players but not wasting premium picks on them. Herschel Walker was taken in the 5th round by Dallas in the same draft-do you think he was rated a 5th rounder. Well Flutie wasn't rated an 11th rounder either-so bringing up Fluties NFL draft status doesn't make Felser an idiot. Felser has spent many a year in the HOF voting room & was trying to explain the process in his column. You might not agree with him, but he knows more about football than this entire board combined-including you.

Losman bashers are literally clueless
Albany,n.y. replied to Albany,n.y.'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Here was my take on Losman before the draft: J.P. Losman is an intriguing prospect due to his arm and athleticism. Scouts vary on him whether he’s the next Brett Favre or the next Cade McNown. Since he will go in the late 1st or early second I’d be willing to take the risk that he’s the next Favre. The most logical possibility of finding “QB of the Future” is if J.P. Losman falls to round 2. There are mixed reactions to the athletic Losman with the best case scenario finding the next Brett Favre and the worst case finding the next Cade McNown. However, if Losman is gone they might have to take a flyer on a day 2 QB. At least one pick will be for the future because another QB has to be brought in. I just hope that the team doesn’t repeat a Jets mistake of 1991. The Jets loved Brett Favre & came within one pick of getting him in round 2, after desperate attempts to trade up (they had no #1 that year). When Favre was taken by Atlanta, the Jets still had the need for a QB of the future, they took the next QB on their board, Browning Nagle. If the Bills get into the same spot, say they like Losman and they miss him by a pick or 2, I hope they regroup and forget about a QB of the future and just concentrate on other positions. Mock Draft Buffalo Bills (As I would select) 1st Rd. 1) Roy Williams WR 2) J.P. Losman QB 3) Randy Starks DT 4) Donnell Washington DT Pick-J.P. LOSMAN QB – If Roy Williams is still on the board, which I believe there is a chance he will be, it’s a no brainer and he’s the pick. I’m speculating here that he’s not and if I were GM I’d try to trade down a bit and go QB of the future here since the other 1st round QBs are long gone. Since I can’t trade down unless the Bills do I’ll be picking either Roy Williams or J.P. Losman at pick 13. Thankfully, the Bills (unlike the 1991 Jets) were successful in trading up & getting Losman. In my own draft I ended up taking JP at pick 13. The morning of the draft I posted why I thought JP should be our top pick, I got some replies quoting the coach killer opinions. The second I saw the Dallas helmet change to a Bills helmet on ESPN, I knew we had traded up in order to pick JP. It wasn't a very well kept secret that TD & company liked JP (as well as GB & STL-so he had to get ahead of those 2 teams) and TD was brilliant enough to get Lee Evans & JP Losman on draft day. I'm glad I'm not running things because we'd have had Bernard Berrian instead of Evans, I'm glad that none of the JP bashers are running things either. They're probably the same ones who wanted to draft Flutie instead of Bruce Smith even though we already had the NFL rights to Kelly. -
At the end of the movie they showed the house demolished along with the closed & demolished places around Lackawanna. I looked up 32 Wasson Ave and it is now a vacant lot owned by the City of Lackawanna. The movie was ok, but I'm really not into movies that have small pieces of life stories about a lot of people. I prefer movies that have a heavy concentration on the main characters only.

Bills send out Season Ticket Invoices

I paid my $403 for my 1 seat today. Petrino has 2 seats next to me on a different account, so I only need 1 seat. Though he does get me nervous when he falls behind schedule in his payments. -
clueless adj : totally uninformed about what is going on; not having even a clue from which to infer what is occurring Unless you have seen JP Losman every day, like the Bills coaches & fellow players have, then you really do not have a clue as to his abilities. Watching him in a few mop up appearances and drawing any conclusion is again, clueless. I must also admit that anyone who supports JP, like I do, is also clueless. However, there are people who are not clueless to the situation. Those people are Sam Wyche, Tom Clements, Mike Mularkey, Tom Donahoe and offensive players like Eric Moulds. Moulds has gone on record with some very positive statements about what he has seen of Losman. If the coaches & GM believe that JP can start next year without the team going backwards, their opinion is a lot more informed than you, me or John Clayton-who has probably seen less of him than anyone here. The informed have basically lived with both JP & Drew for the past year or so. Let's trust their opinions over the clueless bunch (basically all of us) that has formed an opinion, one way or another, with very little information.
