What are we really giving up if JP starts?
Albany,n.y. replied to JoeF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Culpepper started in his 2nd season, a move that Denny Green was widely criticized for when he announced it before pre-season began. He was a fantasy player's dream & the Vikings made it to the NFC championship game. Nobody (in the media etc), except the team-which saw him in practice the year before, thought he could step right in after not playing much his rookie year. Brady won the Super Bowl his second season. Roethlisberger made it to the AFC championship as a rookie from the MAC. That old thinking that all QBs stuggle their 1st year as a starter or that the vet is better than the 2nd year QB is no longer applicable. Just as I've learned that underclassman QB does not always = bust, like it did just a few years ago. The QB position & its learning curve has recently changed. I don't know if its the extra camps, more hands on QB coaching, or something else. JP is comming back to Buffalo to learn from Wyche & Clements, while Drew sits on his @ss out West. I expect JP to start on opening day & on Super Bowl Sunday in Detroit. There are no reasons for diminished expectations with JP at QB. -
Please explain any logical reason why the Bills would go through the trouble of re-signing M.Price, who is a valuable backup & is worth a heck of a lot more to US than the Redskins 6th, then trade him for a pick that traditionally makes the NFL 10% of the time. While you're at it, please tell us why the Redskins wouldn't just sign Price if they have any interest in him & simply outbid us since their owner is one of the biggest overbidders in the league. Why would they give us a 6th when they can get him without surrendering a pick?

With their 1st pick in the draft,
Albany,n.y. replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Kicker-because if he's serious about bringing a Super Bowl championship to Buffalo he knows he has to have a placekicker the coaching staff can count on in a playoff game. A couple of years ago I would have thought that there's no way that Donahoe would be thinking like I do, but over the past two years I've posted cases for drafting McGahee & Losman. McGahee in late March or early April (before TD threw me off the scent by signing Gary) and Losman last year on draft day. I believed that those were selections that would make a lot of sense in trying to achieve a Super Bowl championship & Nugent is so obvious to me that I believe it is also obvious to TD. Belichick would not be considered such a genius if he had Lindell instead of Vinatieri, probably wouldn't have any Lombardi trophies. Drafting Nugent gives Mularchy a chance to win it all, keeping Lindell makes him no better than Marty & Herm. -
It's highly unlikely that he will end up in Miami. He will be gone by the 3rd round & I doubt he will be the 2nd pick in the draft.

Cut Drew, sign Kurt Warner
Albany,n.y. replied to TC in St. Louis's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There's no friggin gap! If we're going to cut Drew we need a veteran backup in case JP has to come out or miss a game or 2. If JP is not ready, Drew will not be cut, if JP's ready he will, it's that simple. Judging from what Moulds said JP is ready. I'm sick of hearing that a second year QB has to experience growing pains until he plays a # of real games. The recent success stories of 2nd year QBs who didn't or barely played their rookie seasons should have put that myth to bed. Brady won the Super Bowl his 2nd year with no experience his rookie year. Successful sophomore seasons in recent years include Culpepper, Vick, Leftwich, Brooks, and even though he had other league experience, Warner. -
I can't imagine hours of shoveling. One of the 1st things I did when I bought a house was get a snowblower. I'm too old to shovel, guys my age end up in the obits the day after a snowstorm because they think they can still shovel tons of snow. The guys who avoid the grim reaper are putting on linament the whole week after.

Do you really think he knew her name at the time of the crash? -
Since the next Super Bowl is in 2006, I agree.
-
Last I heard we're supposed to get around 1 foot. I'm not going out until it stops. I've got the snowblower right by the garage door so I'll be plowing my driveway when it's over.

henry generating a lot of talk around the nfl
Albany,n.y. replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What you talkin' 'bout Willis? The cap hit is exactly the same for Henry whether you trade or cut him. Here are some rules: Cut a player before 6/1 : Entire remaining cap bonus $ accelerated to the season's cap Cut a player after 6/1: That year's portion of the remaining cap bonus $ to the season's cap. Remaining portion to next season's cap. Trade a player -doesn't matter when: Entire remaining cap bonus $ accelerated to the season's cap-same as cut before 6/1. Trade or cut a player in the last year of his contract (Henry is in the last year): Entire remaining cap bonus $ accelerated to the season's cap-same as cut before 6/1, same as trade. -
What postion will our 2nd pick be??

Until you put placekicker on the list, it's worthless. -
ProFootball Weekly has an article on Bills
Albany,n.y. replied to jahnyc's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He can't go back to Georgia, it would violate all NCAA rules. -
I remember when Minnesota went to Culpepper in his 2nd season & everyone was shocked that Denny Greene, who saw Culpepper practice the entire year before, made him the starter. He made it all the way to the NFC title game. No indication that JP's ready. How about Eric Moulds saying on WGR that JP kept improving & was lighting things up against our defense in some practices. Insider ha!, WGR's listeners had more inside info on the Bills just listening to Moulds than Lenny P could dig up from his "sources" for the next decade.

With all the talk about trading Henry
Albany,n.y. replied to MartyBall4Buffalo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Jordan will never sign with the Bills to be a backup. He's willing to re-sign with the Jets as long as he gets starter's pay, otherwise he'll go to a team where he's starting in 2005. Any team looking to add a starting RB should consider Jordan 1st, rather than giving up a pick for Henry. -
One of the guys at work has Patriots season tickets & went to the Indy game. At the end of the game the fans were all chanting "Cut That Meat!"

Stevens is a thug that you don't want on your team. I was amazed that Seattle was stupid enough to draft this guy in the 1st round with all hisa off the field stuff. I didn't like him on draft day 3 years ago & want nothing to do with him now. My opinion 3 years ago : My bust board includes the player most likely to be in jail within the next 3 years, Jerramy Stevens. Any team spending a draft choice on him based on his football talents shouldn't expect him to be with the team too long unless they have a large supply of get out of jail free cards. He's nothing but a criminal who has some talent on the football field.

Pittsburgh is going to get mauled
Albany,n.y. replied to BF_in_Indiana's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
For whatever reason, the Jets have Roethlisberger figured out & can make him look pretty bad. It happened during the regular season & again last night. Sometimes one team just has a matchup advantage against an opposing team or player. It's foolish to say that the Jets results against Pittsburgh means whoever wins in NE today should bury Pittsburgh next week. Unless the NE game winner can get the Jets defense & their staff to play for them next week, one week's performance has nothing to do with the next. I expect to see Roethlisberger holding the Lombardi trophy even with the Cower post season monkey on his back. Although Roethlisberger may not be the reason Pittsburgh wins the Super Bowl, it's easier to deify a 22 year old QB than a 67 year old DC. The Jets scored 3 points on offense yesterday. -
Since the Dolphins 3rd is near the top of the round, if nobody is willing to give us a 2, take the Dolphins 3rd & run. Travis will be chasing 13 year old Cuban girls & be Cecil Collins' roomate by mid-season.

Who could they have drafted? 2 QBs (Carr & Harrington) were picked before we drafted. The other QBs in that draft were Ramsey (1) -picked before we picked in 2nd & still a ?, Josh McCown (3), David Garrard (4), Rohan Davey (4), Randy Fasani (5)-he spent a few weeks on our practice squad, Kurt Kittner (5), Brandon Doman (5)-see Fasani, Craig Nail (5), JT O'Sullivan (6), Seth Burford (7), Jeff Kelly(7), Ronald Curry (7), Wes Pate (7), Lots of pro bowlers in this group. -

If JP beats out Drew in camp QB is solved, otherwise we're still playing with a QB who won 6 out of his last 7 games. Draft Nugent & send Lindell out of town, Solidify left tackle by either resigning Jonas or getting someone of equal talent-the OL was better. I didn't see too many times when Mularchy threw 3 yards behind the LOS on 3&1, he mixes things up very well & you can't hang him for 1 play call. They already went 9-7, we're not goiung backwards-Gregg is no longer head coach. -
The Jets-Steelers game is more evidence that the Bills must draft Nugent if they want to be a championship team. Making the playoffs & relying on a shaky kicker like Doug (2 missed extra points against us in Minny) Brien -OR RIAN LINDELL - is a disservice to the other 52 players on your roster. Kickers obviously decide games. If we don't pick Nugent in round 2, the Jets will.

You must have finished your second six pack by now to think we'll be no better than 8-8 next year. When you sober up you'll see 12-4 or better.
