The Petco ballpark and Qual comm in San Diego were /are in constricted road access areas. So I don't buy the traffic issues. Just make sure a rail line goes to the stadium to bring people in and out during games. Downtown it is! Carry on.
Yes its a stadium for baseball. But the restaurants and stores embedded in the stadium at the street level on the sidewalks around the park are open year round and it is an asset to the downtown core district.

As for the WR's , they just have to be able to run their routes and catch the ball. Look at Brady and their WR's, Brady makes them look better than they are.
