  1. So I listened to Brad Riter do his Rex Ryan impression online where he called out WGR and vowed to "steal" all their talent. Given his bravado, I thought: what the heck, I'll give WECK a listen on the drive home (yesterday). So a little after 3PM I pop over to 1230, and who do I hear but DENNIS MILLER! Are you KIDDING ME Riter? Afternoon drive time is some PRIME radio time, and rather than actually COMPETE with WGR's afternoon show you guys toss on some coma-inducing monotone blather from a guy who is smart but not at all interesting on the radio (IMO anyway). Basically, Riter went on a Rex Ryan rant with the Carolina Panther's roster. It just made him look silly... to the 15 people who heard it.
  2. Think about the people you know who are REALLY INTO working out. Almost all of them likely have STRONG opinions that are the REALITY (in their eyes anyway). Everyone has THE answer when it comes to training/fitness/diet. Just think, there are people who think bread and broccoli are bad, while eating sticks of butter wrapped in bacon is healthy. It's almost like religion and politics. There's no use even discussing it unless you agree.
  3. 1) Ralph is 92, going on 93. 2) Ryan Fitzpatrick is NOT winning you a Super Bowl. He couldn't even win you the Chiefs game. 3) Other teams have WR who drop balls. Try watching some other teams' games. 4) Ralph Wilson is the freaking MAN. He's seen enough football to realize that Fitzy is a cute story, but Ralph wants to WIN a Super Bowl, not get the "almost won against a good team" trophy that Fitz wins him every week. 5) Anyone who compares Fitzpatrick to Brees is totally clueless about football outside of the Bills. There is no other way to say it. Brees' completion % is so much higher than Fitzs' that it's a JOKE to even go any further.
  4. core training also helps you avoid lower back pain/injuries.... Many of the "muscle head" types don't bother with it because there are no 50 lb dumbbells involved, but core training is about a LOT more than just having a 6 pack. Doing planks and roll outs might not wow the ladies, but it can help your lower back stand up to constant bending/shoving/twisting that happens on the line of scrimmage, as well as give you more power to shove back
  5. planks and roll outs are the best ab exercises there are in my experience. You can do curls or situps all day long, and you will NEVER get the results that planks and roll outs give you. Plus, planks work the back as well. I do agree that deadlifts and rows are key to training the back. But core strength is CRUCIAL. Just my opinion, though.
  6. I listened to and really liked Brad Riter's show on WGR, and I listen from time to time to WECK, but with all due respect to Mr. Riter (and I know he reads these boards often) WECK has so far to go that I highly doubt that WGR is "afraid" of WECK. For one thing, WGR has all the "big names." It gets the Lindy Ruff interviews, Thurman Thomas' show, the segments with Roby and Rob Ray, access to Paul Hamilton, and even Jerry Sullivan (say what you will about him, people obviously care). WECK has no "buzz" or relevance. That does NOT mean that WGR is "better," but to the average sports fan who wants to hear Bills/Sabres talk it remains the station most turn to. I'd love to see that change. Even many WGR listeners don't really LIKE the station, but they DO like hearing Lindy Ruff, Roby, Thurman, Rob Ray, Jerry, etc. IF WECK can start to get those types of guys on their station, then something might change. WGR is not worried about Schopp or the Bulldog going to WECK. There will be people beating down the door to take the 3-7 slot and do that gig. Meanwhile, it will be (to the average Buffalo radio listener) as if Schopp and the Bulldog quit radio and vanished. In short, you know how Riter dismissively referred to "other small stations I might not know about" in his manifesto? That's WECK to a vast majority of Buffalo sports fans.
  7. can anyone actually still say with a straight face that Ryan Fitzpatrick could have won tonight's game? Two of the best defenses in football, and Rogers tossed 3 TD for the win. If anything maybe this will help the delusional awake from their fantasyland where the Bills are "fine" at QB. Sure, if the goal is to go 8-8, they're cool. If the goal is to WIN a Super Bowl, then they are going to need to find a REAL QB in this draft. And there will be at least one. Maybe it's round 2, or 3, or 4 or 1... It's Nix's job to FIND ONE.
  8. the biggest difference is that Mr. Wilson is a CLASS ACT and you'll never read otherwise. Snyder is a little prick who tries to hurt, embarrass, and screw over the people who work for him the second he sours on them. He's a boy with $$.
  9. here is mine: 1) Vermont 2) Oregon 3) Washington State 4) Wisconsin 5) Tennesee What's your board? Also, would I be reaching to take Vermont in round 1? I want to make 100% sure I get it! Great sports topic! ALSO: what's your philosophy? Mine is simply to pick states that have things I enjoy: scenic beauty, mountains (if possible), lakes, and eclectic culture. I'm less concerned with economic powerhouses, state budgets, etc.
  10. I want to see a QB "fake slide" then keep running right past the defenders who let up
  11. some of you beat me to it, but what the heck.... Buffalo is a KEY NHL market. Quite frankly, the NHL NEEDS the Buffalo market. Buffalo is BARELY an NFL market. The NFL could give two craps about Buffalo. That's the difference. The NHL needs to be in places where people care.
  12. I know that Ralph has been having issues with his balance lately, so he may have fallen. He has had some fairly serious issues of late, but he's still ticking and I applaud him for still coming to games!
  13. sadly Ralph's health has been really poor... But he is 92, so really he's doing better than most!
  14. Here is a Fitz stat for you: as much as you guys love Fitz there is one man who loves him 100X more: RALPH WILSON! He must be kissing the ground that Fitzy walks on! I mean he can actually sell NOT drafting a QB with the top 5 pick they'll have and many of the fans will applaud him for it!
  15. To me, the truly interesting stat here is the 8 ties
  16. yes they did. THEN the phone rang: Gailey: Hello? Ralph Wilson: Hi... uh... Chaan... This is Ralph Wilson... owner of the Buffalo Bills.... You need to play Trent Gailey: But he sucks! Ralph Wilson: You enjoy.... being... an NFL head... coach, right Dick... errrr.. I mean Chan? Gailey: Got you loud and clear Mr. Wilson! Trent it is
  17. Here you go: Jauron was the WORST COACH OF ALL TIME! Now that he is gone, we finally have a REAL TEAM. Except.... it's the SAME TEAM: solid defense, plays hard, offense stinks (especially passing game)
  18. In Trent's defense, he's the same guy he ALWAYS has been. He (at his best) plays slightly worse than Chad Pennington. He is who he is. I said it before: the Kool Aid drinkers would be the most vicious toward Trent for being Trent
  19. The thing to remember about ANY dish related service is that internet can be a pain. Cable is just plain easier, unless you own a house. I've lived in apartments far from Buffalo where I practically bribed/begged the apartment manager to let us get Direct TV for Bills games... No dice. This service is a good deal for people who just want the games. My friend has the entire DTV package and he has hooked his laptop to a smaller LCD (for a 2nd game at a time while the other is on his big screen TV)and it is decent quality.
  20. 1) The NFL can waive the relocation fee AND/OR help build an LA stadium if they see fit 2) Toronto would not be a "relocation" any more than the Jets/Giants stadium proposal in NYC (which became NJ after) in the eyes of the league, thanks to Ralph's "claim" of the Toronto market. 3) I still do not see them going anywhere. Ralph has had a plan for a LONG time
  21. Jaguars are going to LA. It's inevitable. The Bills will not move in the forseeable future. IF they do, it would be only after every effort was made to keep them here. The NFL does not need or want another PR disaster like the Browns on their hands. Loyal, blue collar fans who pack the stadium having their team RIPPED from them. The Jags, quite frankly, few would care. People in Jacksonville apparently don't even care enough about the team to go to games.
  22. this is a good lesson for life.... None of us will be here forever, and neither will the Bills. You can either worry about it all the time, or just enjoy it while you've got it. I'll take the latter
  23. I cannot even imagine how depressing it would be around here if the Bills left.... As it is, we are struggling to get by here job-wise but we have family/friends around and we're both big Buffalo sports fans But as dumb as it might sound to some, if the Bills left, I think we would too. The collective regional pity party would be too much to take.
  24. I think the real story here is the picture of Fat Albert in that article... He doesn't seem as fat as I thought
  25. according to the write up, that band loses money to play.... doesn't make sense....
