  1. Well, that, a questionable PI call, and the luckiest punt I've seen in 30 years of watching football. But it was an ingredient in the stew of dismay.
  2. 29 fixed the HD issue somewhere in the first half.
  3. Not much of a game, from what I can tell from the Internet.
  4. It helped me, back in the day. And where would Faulkner, for example, be without his bottle (who am I kidding, it was a barrel) of bourbon? I know, it's legal, but it definitely enhanced his performance to the detriment of the rest of his life.
  5. Just stick with the "role model" aspect of it; why do we not--as an outraged society, not the government--hold these role models to the same standards? (And any 14 year old will be able to name a few authors, although I don't know if JK Rowling uses drugs. She had to come up with Quidditch somehow, though.)
  6. Next question: say someone is a musician or an author. Is marijuana a PED? Is a musician or an author less of a "role model" than an athlete? And if so, why?
  7. I only use steroids socially.
  8. Well, now you know at least one possible, good reason why: they wanted Merriman instead.
  9. Perfect comparison.
  10. No. Luck, Mallett, or address another need in the first round and wait another year for Luck or Mallett.
  11. At the VERY least, he's going to have to change his name. After that, well, there may be more work to do.
  12. Did you watch the game today? That's the way it should be done? WIth a lot of luck and mistakes by the other team? I mean, I watched Jimbo and Bruce capitalize on mistakes and get lucky in certain games, but that's not "the way it should be done."
  13. When I was a freshman at UB, all of the Yawkers were Mets and Islanders fans. When I graduated, they all were Yanks and Rangers fans. It's NYC. They say they're diehards of one team or another, but they aren't.
  14. That's why the station asked the question: there are differing opinions. (I want the Bills to win.)
  15. The bigger saving grace is that Cousineau was traded for the pick used to select Kelly. Williams--biggest of all time, IMO.
  16. That's an informative thread.
  17. I seem to remember a Bills DE that played in a 3-4 and got after quarterbacks pretty damned well.
  18. Pete beat me to it
  19. I had the opposite experience during the Flutie game. And all I was wearing was a Bills ballcap. (I mean, that's the only team-branded apparel I was wearing. I was fully clothed at all times.)
  20. Probably not, but there are many holes to be filled, and if the right QB isn't available in 2011, it makes sense to wait until 2012. It's not like the team is a QB, or LB, or DE, or whatever, away from making the playoffs.
  21. You've touched it with a needle. Look, for me, it's Luck, MAYBE Mallett, and if not, a serious lineman (don't care which side of the ball) or 'backer. If those qbs stay in school, hell, it's one more year of Fitz. Rebuilding is not going to be a one-year deal, anyway.
  22. What I want to know is why there was no flag on the play. The Cheats get an offensive pass interference call on that play every time.
  23. I get the premise; I voted the second choice; I do not think FItzpatrick will play this well all year.
  24. I don't want to get rid of helmets, but the rest of this identifies the root of the problem: when football became about hitting, rather than tackling, we started to see more injuries and poorer defense. I've seen enough receivers bounce off of a hockey check by the defender and gain ten more yards, when the defender simply could have wrapped up and stopped the play. And of course, classic tackling presents less of an injury risk.
