  1. The EJ haters want him gone. The EJ fanboys want him anointed starter. Objectively speaking, EJ should be make the team as our 3rd QB with a chance to move up should circumstances call for it. TT starting, Cassel with the clipboard.
  2. Heard? You HEARD the "tip" clear as day??
  3. JFC, if you need the Hubble telescope to determine if MAYBE a microfiber of a fingernail tip COULD have POSSIBLY touched the football, than it really doesn't count as a "tipped pass". Tone it down a notch, EJ fanboys. He had a great game with one shltty 4th down pass. Deal with it.
  4. Sounds about right. Obviously, the fans overwhelmingly want Taylor. We have eyes, we can see, and we like what we see in TT.
  5. I watched the game and did not see a deflection of EJ's missed 4th down pass. It just looked like a doink. If anyone has a replay showing otherwise I'd love to see it.
  6. Good observations by the OC. I'd like to add these" Let's hope Carpenter's kicking issues are resolved soon. Having an automatic PK is huge for a team looking to win with defense, special teams and a ground/pound running game. After the draft, I pegged O'Leary to be a huge sleeper but he never woke up. Gragg has clearly outplayed him. Practice squad time for Nick. What impresses me most about Tyrod is his patience and accuracy in the pocket. His running ability was as a given. He's gonna be a star. Love how EJ has played, but that bounce pass on 4th down without pressure is a reminder of why he can't be trusted as our starter. Cassel has done nothing to shake his "Meh" status. I see no reason to start Captain Checkdown II. Darby had one of those days, but that'll happen to a rookie. Don't let it fool you...he'll be a star in this league. Bryce can start packing his bags as soon as Karlos returns. Has there ever been a more fragile NFL player than Marquis Goodwin? Roman could be one-and-done as OC. If this game is any indication how good our offense will be this year he'll be a HC somewhere else next year. That 33 yard PAT gonna come into play this season; especially in December.
  7. Looking at it another way... EJ - Whaley's baby Tyrod - Rex's baby Meh - Roman's baby All want their boy represented. After the game, Rex/Whaley/Roman have a "last-man-standing-gets-his-guy" cage match.
  8. Trying to figure out what to make of this. Is EJ seriously still in the hunt to be the opening day starter? Is it really still a 3 QB race? Is it just a nice gesture to EJ for his hard work and solid drive against Cleveland? Maybe a smokescreen to throw off the Colts preparation? None of the above? All of the above? I'm admittedly perplexed.
  9. Per Paul Hamilton twitter. Link: https://twitter.com/pham1717/status/636952989635219456 All three will play with 1st team.
  10. I think it's Tryod's job to lose at this point. Cassel remains a safety net if Tyrod regresses. I can't see a scenario outside of injuries that EJ is in the mix to start. If I were Rex I'd play Tyrod and Meh for 3 quarters and give EJ some mopup time at the end. Then let EJ play the majority of the last preseason game and solidify a roster spot. Before the Browns game I didn't think EJ would make the cut, but after that nice game winning drive I believe he's earned the #3 spot. Simms will probably get a few snaps in the final preseason game and then it's off to the practice squad.
  11. After a disastrous rookie season, Manziel has shown signs of life this preseason. Also seems to have matured as a person. Hate to see that progress get derailed by a chronic elbow issue, but that's life. He reminds me a bit of Flutie.
  12. Tyrod. I still say come September 13th it will be Tyrod. Maybe that's hope mixed with the eye test, but knowing Rex is a TT guy tells me regardless of Roman's alleged infatuation with Meh, it's Tyrod's job to lose. The weapons Tyrod brings are just too numerous to keep warming on the bench for a mediocre game manager.
  13. EJ is great! EJ must start! EJ sucks! EJ must go! YES EJ! NO EJ! YES EJ! NO EJ! YES EJ! NO EJ! YES EJ! That about sums up half the threads on this board, with the same handful of bored people filling up each thread with redundancy. I understand that it's a hot topic, but how many times can you retrace the same steps before growing sick and tired of going nowhere? It's like the Miller Lite "TASTES GREAT!" vs "LESS FILLING!" argument going on without interruption for 2 months. Maybe give it a rest?
  14. While I like that we have enough positives in 3 QBs to warrant significant playing time for all of them in the 3rd preseason game, it's also problematic. This is the game when the starters give their longest preseason action to prepare for the regular season, and not having a clear starter or even backup could negatively impact timing and symmetry. After this, even if the game itself has no definitive winner in the competition, I want a starter to be taking 80% of the 1st team reps. I know he wants to milk this out until September 13th, but make a decision already, Rex.
  15. I don't believe in EJ as a viable option to start. He has the ability to make a nice throw, he has the ability to finish a nice drive, but I don't have faith he can do it consistently enough to be a winner in this league. A good drive followed by 3 terrible quarters...how often have we seen that? That being said, as a Bills fan I certainly don't root for him to fail. I was happy to see him lead the winning drive at the end of the game last week. Maybe he could become a strong backup. If something happens to our starter we aren't dead in the water. That's important in this league, too. We have an intriguing competition right now. I see Taylor as the perfect QB for our offense, provided he can consistently execute at a high level. From the little I've seen he seems to have the right demeanor for it. A calmness under fire that can't be taught.. Meh Cassel is the least interesting, but he does have both short and long term value. Short term he could manage the offense efficiently enough to win games. Long term he could be almost a player coach as a backup/mentor who could keep us afloat if our starter goes down. EJ is in kind of a no-mans land. Still a young guy learning, and has enough physical tools to be viable if his development goes well. That said, he also had significant streaks of poor play that make it hard for any head coach to trust him with the keys to the car. Thus, I still stand by my assessment at the position. 1. Taylor - The possible phenom 2. Cassel - The safety net 3. Manuel - The project
  16. Tyrod looked fantastic to me. Very much like Russell Wilson. He showed poise, accuracy, speed and seems ready to become the starter. The 3 points are misleading. He only was given 3 possessions, and played against their 1st team with our 5th team skill players. First drive ended on a missed FG after a 16 play 10 minute drive with several clutch 3rd down conversions. The next was blown up by a 10 yard loss on a Goodwin reverse after Taylor had 22 yard run. The last produced a FG after a nice touch TD pass was dropped on 3rd down. Far as I'm concerned, the opening day starter should be Tyrod with Cassel holding the clipboard. EJ is the clear 3rd, but might have done enough on that last drive to earn a roster spot.
  17. If our RBs were healthy, Bryce Brown would probably be cut after the Browns game. His days here are numbered. A fumbler with a heart problem who can't block or play special teams has no chance making this lineup. Dixon and Williams are competing for 3rd back.
  18. I think it's an more devious a scheme. As many of us know, Rex and Whaley has been deeply involved with a top secret cabal of quarterback Illuminati since early April. Inside sources are telling me off the record that they plan to call intentionally bad pass plays in the first two games that cause fans and media to scream for Tyrod Taylor to replace Cassel. At that point, they have a secret, never before practiced or revealed playbook that will be installed to make Taylor into an overnight sensation. Keep this on the down low people.
