  1. An item I'd be curious to know is, when this whole episode is behind us, how many people out of the 100,000's or 1,000,000's that catch this virus will have gotten it from being in a hospital for an unrelated illness / procedure?
  2. Actually, the 1st time it is mentioned the article says 6 months, but uses 4 months the 2nd time it is mentioned.
  3. How does that work for say 150,000,000 people or so in actual practice?
  4. So, people that haven't had it would have to wait until they've been tested before being allowed back to work? 2 q's as to how that would actually be implemented: Under what conditions would they have to retest? And more importantly, who decides and how, who gets that test? (And a 3rd related q too: would the test keep / collect individuals' DNA so that we'd now effectively have a national DNA registry?)
  5. Michigan is going to up the unemployment benefits by $600 for up to 6 months? What pot of money are they tapping into to cover that? The "Final-Final" version of the CARES Act said the $600 adder will be covered through July (4 months tops). Unless there were additional changes between that and what 45 signed, really doubt Michigan has the budget room to cover that for 2 extra months.
  6. If they try to open things back up as Germany has proposed, by letting those who've had the virus and survived it be the 1st people released, when does the next and significantly larger group of people that didn't contract the virus get "permission" to resume their lives?
  7. Wondering how often they DON'T get caught when claiming footage from 1 location is really someplace else?
  8. The WHO also was still criticizing him for cancelling flights from China nearly a week after he'd done so. Yes, he should've shut travel with Europe sooner, but when he's dealing w/ advice like that from what is supposedly the world's most prominent authority, it's a bit tougher of a call. And, he's correctly been leaving decisions that belong at the state level with the governors. There's been guidance, but that's what it should be. Considering all the conflicting info that's been put out there, consider that both 45 and Cuomo have done fairly well with this. (Though both have made missteps.)
  9. Brian Wilson?
  10. Murray the Cop on The Odd Couple Benson on SOAP Pinky on The Animamiacs Pinky & the Brain shorts 2nd the nomination of Colonel Flagg on MASH Dave (Fred Dryer's character) on Cheers Buddy Sorrell on the Dick Van ***** Show
  11. Ghostbusters. Except for the librarian ghost turning into a monster, nothing remotely scary. Not too racy either. Bill Murray's 1st foray into being a big screen leading man Meatballs would probably be too hokey, but might work. Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Show the kids how to PROPERLY stay home from school. Could also go back to old school Disney movies like The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes or Flubber.
  12. FTFY.
  13. Been working from home for a long time, so that isn't much different. But had a few standing meetings that have been cancelled / gone virtual and also now no face to face meetings with clients which is weird. Fortunately, wife is still working full time but 50% is telecommute. Have some clients having very tough times of it, so much so, that I might not get paid by a couple. Stinks, but am still better off than many. Good luck to all.
  14. Hopefully you do stick around. This place is better when there's more than just Doc Brown and TPS expressing points coherently from a liberal point of view.
  15. The reports out of the Czech Republic are that their test kits have an 80% failure rate. (i.e., you'd be better off assuming the opposite of what the test results are) and out of Spain that their test kits are getting better with only a 30% failure rate. That kind of "help" ain't help.
  16. And, unless they are ABSOLUTELY the only provider of medicine / equipment, wouldn't accept any "aid" from them either.
  17. Don't mind seeing the red helmets for throwbacks to those early '90's unis. Really like the current blue shirts with white pants and white shirts w/ either blue or white. Only tweak to make if better would be to go back to the blue face masks rather than the current gray ones.
  18. Dayum. Now we can't even stay at home and order online to stay away from the virus. Was that the news that started the markets back down at the end of the day?
  19. Reeeeaaaaally hoping we never see a President Cuomo.
  20. Hoping like heck that there is more nuance to this than 140 characters allow. Because if some twit in a position of authority & credibility really is recommending that people leaving the largest concentration of corona virus in the country not to self quarantine upon leaving, he is setting people up to unwittingly kill their new neighbors.
  21. There is a strong chance this will backfire on them, but they still might have 1 more card in the deck. If 45 is seen as pushing too hard/fast to reopen society and we see a second wave after that, he will get hit harder by the D's and the media than he has been on anything else to date. (And they've hit him hard to date.) This whole episode is unprecedented and there will be missteps along the way. Those will be portrayed as apocalyptic. Remember, in the spring of '91, 41 had record high approval ratings. One very minor recession which we we coming out of by November '92 later and he was out.
  22. That's essentially what B-Man said. Still trying to figure out where this "exchange stabilization fund" language exists in the actual bill. It must be in there somewhere as both sides are talking about it; but would like to see what it is as it is actually written to understand who, if one side, both, or neither, is being unreasonable about it.
  23. Not intentionally being daft, but not seeing "exchange stabilization" funding in S. 3548. Is that from a separate bill?
  24. Does anybody know where in the Senate bill the "$500,000,000,000 slush fund" talking point comes from? It looks like the "discretionary" money available for distribution to large businesses is $150B. Didn't see a cap on the size of the loan/ loan forgiveness program for small businesses, but did see a cap on individual loans at $10MM. Maybe that program is estimated to be $350B, but that doesn't seem likely. (Edit: the $150B doesn't include the business funds specifically allocated to the airline industry.)
