  1. I think Upshaw is the no-brainer pick much like Dareus was last year. I think he is the closest thing to a "sure fire" prospect in this draft. 4 year starter at a powerhouse school in the SEC. National Championship MVP. He is built like a rock at 6'3", 270 LB. Just a ferocious hitter. A throwback LB IMO. The anti-thesis of Aaron Maybin. This team is so thin at OLB its scary. You can plug Upshaw in from day 1. Nix did pretty well the last time he took the defensive MVP of the National Championship game from Alabama (Dareus). You take Upshaw because he is the best "Football Player" on the board. A proven commodity that has performed his entire career at Bama. He also seemed to be a vocal leader of that sick Alabama defense; a Ray Lewis type leader. Just another aspect of him that this team desperately needs. Having him and Dareus would give us a tremendous foundation for our front 7. I think we stick with a hybrid defense with the 3-4 still being the base D. I also think Upshaw will have no problem performing out of the 4-3. I think you could line him up at DE or OLB in the 4-3 and he will still be successful. Watching the National Championship sealed it for me: Upshaw all day. The league has also clearly turned into a passing driven league. If your defense cannot get to the QB, you are pretty much dead in the water. I think getting a pass rusher like Upshaw in the 1st is imperative. We need a LB of his stature that can really take advantage of the double teams that a healthy Willams and Dareus will be eating up. Upshaw is the total package that can do everything you need a LB to do in today's league. Has the size to take on OT by himself in the pass rush and in run defense. Like it or not, this team needs two new starting OLB going into next season. Merriman cannot be counted on for anything IMO. Upshaw would be a great start at rebuilding our LB corp.
  2. Spiller was a great pick. Buddy Nix has gone BPA in the 1st round in both of his drafts (Spiller & Dareus) and it has paid dividends. When you start drafting for need in the first round, you end up with the Maybins, Whitners, McCargos and Losmans of the draft. This team was an absolute mess when Nix took over and it was clearly in need of a total tear down. Some of you have unreal expectations. Jauron and Levy left this team in total shambles and pretty much devoid of talent. Spiller was the best offensive weapon in that draft and this offense was totally devoid of any playmakers at the time. Bulaga was called "soft" in scouting reports and not a true LT. He still hasn't broken thru with GB at LT so there goes that theory. Jason Piere-Paul was viewed as a very risky prospect who wasn't worth the risk in the top 10. A lot of you have very short and selective memories Some of the posts in this thread are comical to say the least. A lot of sour grapes spewed by jaded Bills' fans who hate to be wrong about anything. A lot of people wanted to run Spiller out of town shouting "Bust" from the mountain tops. What did you want him to do getting less then 3 carries a game??? It's a little mind boggling. Spiller has only scratched the surface of his talent. If Gailey didn't abandon him in the 2nd half of some of his starts, just imagine the numbers he would have put up. He also didn't have the luxury of running behind this team's best offensive linemen in Eric Wood. Just look at some of the holes FJax was running through earlier in the season; Spiller would have broken off a few more TDs with those.
  3. I would consider it for the 4th we recieved for Lee Evans but that would depend on what type of locker room guy he is. We as fans have no way of knowing this information. This is where Nix and Whaley earn their pay checks; figure out exactly what type of football player Lloyd is and whether he would fit in on this team. I would definately make a play for Reggie Wayne first and if that did not work out, then I would probably pull the trigger on Lloyd if he checked out locker room wise for the Evans' 4th
  4. No thanks on Lloyd. With a supposed asking price of a 2nd round pick, I will pass. He has had one good season, which was last year. Granted it was a very good year in which he led the league in recieving but still, its only one year. He is on the wrong side of 30. He has also bounced around a lot which could mean he is a locker room problem. I would much rather make a play for Reggie Wayne. He is a proven playoff performer who is still playing at a very high level. He has had back to back 100 reception seasons since he turned 30. He does not depend on his speed to make plays which lessens the blow if he loses a step. He is a tremedous route runner and has one of the best set of hands in the league.
  5. I really don't think that all these turnovers are result of "lucky bounces". Maybe the last INT of the Eagles game where the ball was ripped out of Avant's hands by Florence and picked off by Barnett could be considered lucky; I think it was a great play by Florence to jar the ball loose and good hands by Barnett to hold on to it. You don't force Tom Brady to throw 4 INT's because you're lucky; that was a great defensive effort. This defense forced Brady to throw the same amount of INT's he threw all of last season. Mike Vick had never thrown 4 INT's in his entire career. That wasn't sheer luck either. The defense was all over the place in the right position. They were in Vick's face forcing poor throws and finishing the play with the pick. I just don't buy that all of this defense's success is luck. They have been making great plays by creating pressure, forcing bad throws, and being in the right position. edit: Yardage is way up all around the league. This isn't your daddy's NFL; teams are going to pile up yardage. Tom Brady, Wes Welker, and Bill Belichick are going to move the ball and get their yards. They are just too good of an offense too shut down yardage wise. The same goes for Mike Vick, DeShaun Jackson, Jeremy Maclin, LeShaun McCoy... you're not going to just shut down those guys. They are an explosive offense that can move the ball with ease.
  6. I would still take Dareus. Players like Dareus don't fall into your lap very often; the Bills blew their chance passing on Ngata for Whitner. I felt Dareus should have probably went 1st overall. Without question, Denver should have taken him at #2. The Bills lucked out and made the right call Marcell Dareus has tremedous athleticism for a man his size. Human beings that big and that athletic do not come around very often. When you have a chance to get a player of Dareus' pedigree, you don't hesitate. He is a proven big game performer (MVP of Bama's National Championship game) and has the attitude you look for. He is a hard worker which is a very underrated attribute in todays NFL. He recorded the hardest hit ever on ESPN's Sports Science show. We haven't had a punishing d-linemen like Dareus since the Bruce Smith days. Dareus is only going to get better as the weather turns. Dominant defensive linemen like him are much more valuable when the weather turns to WNY's winter.
  7. My bad. I got caught up in the Dwan hype. I really wanted him to sign here in the beginning to FA. The front page here has WGRZ reporting it but they are citing profootballtalk
  8. ahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahah
  9. You sound like a tool dude. Maybe you should learn how to read, dumbass Bills | D. Edwards reaches deal with team Comment (0) Jamison Hensley, of The Baltimore Sun, reports free-agent DE Dwan Edwards (Ravens) has reached an agreement with the Buffalo Bills, according to ESPN. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Read more: http://www.kffl.com/hotw/nfl#ixzz0iOwp1P5F That doesn't look like Schefter to me. Maybe you should have your mommy come over and help you read- I know big words like "Jamison" and "Schefter" can be a difficult for someone with a 1st grade reading level like youself
  10. Have you watched any of the games this decade? McKelvin has only proven he can't stay healthy for a full season. He has shown glimpses of being a good corner but hasn't proven anything Whitner is a terrible SS. Too small to do anything. He lost his job to a undrafted, backup WR who outplayed him in every facet of the game last year (Wilson). Hopefully he is traded for a 5th or 6th round pick before draft. McGahee was an absolute terrible pick with T.Henry coming off a monster year and holes in both lines Lynch is not a beast. He is one mess up away from being suspended the whole year. He came in out of shape and lost his job to an undrafted RB out of a division III school. This team has been in the basement of the NFL for the past decade because of their terrible drafting. They have no playmakers on the roster other then Jairus Byrd right now. Luckily, Buddy Nix is taking the draft over and knows what he is doing. He found pro-bowler after pro-bowler in SD and I expect him to do the same here
  11. Its a done deal guys Its on profootballtalk, KFFL, and ESPN And Schefter is a total clown. He just makes **** up pretty much- he just posts his opinion and writes in a way that it sounds like he is breaking some type of credible story. He's a turd
  12. I would love a guy like Decker in the 5th I think we have to bring in a WR at some point in the draft. I watched plenty of MIN games and he was always making plays for them. He may not be the most athletic freak out there but the guy knows how to get open and has good hands
  13. I'd rather get a guy like Geathers in the 4th or 5th to play DE. DE is definately a need but not worthy of our 1st I like Cam Thomas at NT. There are some questions whether Dan Willams want to be a full time NT.
  14. Wow, Fitz just outgunned Edwards with one throw Fitz will actually let his WR's make a play for the ball 15+ yards down the field
  15. Looks like the same f'n team as the past 3 painful years Offense is less exciting then watching paint dry Defense plays in the "bends but breaks" style It has to be some sort of cruel punishment that Jauron and his pathetic coordiators are still here
  16. Maybin at LE over Kelsay. He destroys RT's McKelvin tears it up for me in the KR game Parrish is a very good PR Use the Houston Texans playbook
  17. The turf looked like garbage to me That huge TV they have also seems to dominate everyone's POV. I would just stay home and watch the game on my HD Plasma instead of dropping $10,000 on a seat license + cost of tickets
  18. If you hit L2 before snap it lets you tell your O-line how to block Use up on the Left stick and that will set them to aggressive and help you run a little bit better. Or you can send them left and right if you're running a sweep Overall, this is the best Madden EVER I hated the previous PS3 versions but this is lightyears better
  19. I'd rather get rid of Kelsay and his 23 million dollar contract Denney is very good against the run and knows how to use his size to his advantage. He bats a lot of passes down at the line with 6'7" frame. I would try to move Kelsay at all costs. I don't think that is likely to happen if Maybin isn't in camp/under contract.
  20. Yes sir He knew if Thurman ran for over a 100, that would leave Kelly and the WR's less opprotunities to score. Allowing him to hit 100 yards was like putting the brakes on one of the most explosive offenses the league has ever seen. He guarenteed it too Parcells before the game and his players were mad at first. It worked out in the end and Norwood missed the kick. Jauron should have not even been the coach of the Bills last season. After the Cowboys game, Ralph should have canned him and Fewell's sorry asses. I'm sorry, you cannot get embarassed by your coaches like that on national television. There were way too many boneheaded errors from the coaching staff in that game. The most malignant was allowing them to throw the pass down the sidelines when they had 0 TO's. WTF did you think they were going to do????!?! He has the worst clock management of any coach to come thru this town He went 0-6 in a Brady-less divison Started 5-1 and failed to make playoffs Lost to San Fran in a cold-weather, 1pm (10am for 49ers) when the previous record for west coast teams traveling to the east coast and playing at 1pm was 0-36 I believe. Something insane like that He never beats teams with winning records
  21. Whitner has been a HUGE disappointment Regardless of where he was picked, he is below average at best. The 8th overall pick should be a difference maker. Anything less then that is a let down. When is the last time you were watching a game and said to yourself: "Wow! Whitner really stepped up there and made a big play to save the defense." He has managed a pitiful 2 INT's. You guys bring up his tackles but I think that just shows how bad this defense has been- which Whitner is a part of. He never makes big plays. He gets run over by RB's. As another poster pointed out, the Cover 2 defense optimizes the SS. I believe that was OBD's motivation for blowing the 8th overall pick on him: "We're switching to the Cover 2 so lets reach for a SS". Even though the most important element of the Cover 2 is your front fours ability to get to the QB on their own. Ngata would have been a massive help in that category eating up blockers. He is a key piece of Baltimore's consistently amazing defense. The only reason that supposed NFL media "guru's" speak highly of Whitner is because they recall he was a top 10 pick and assume he is good. They don't watch the majority of the games.
  22. This place really went down hill. I haven't posted here in awhile It's like you guys are bunch of highschool girls. Is this a show on MTV? My super-sweet Bills messageboard? Jauron is a terrible coach though His inept clock management, zero gameplanning, and the amount of slack he cuts players is disturbing. The only reason he is here is because Ralph picked him up at the Family Dollar store for coaches. I don't know what Ralph was thinking when he hired Marv to be GM (set us back at least 3 seasons) and what Marv was thinking when he signed Jauron. So they could be Ivy league bum-buddies maybe? I'm not expecting much out of this season due to our coaching situation. I would have fired the entire staff and promoted April to interim coach after that Dallas Cowboys Monday night debacle. How do you let them throw that pass on the sideline to get in FG range when you know they don't have any timeouts? It's embarassing frankly. It's not like that was a one time thing either. The Jets game and the Pats game come to mind immediately
  23. Jauron is a terrible coach He is the worst game-day coach I have ever seen. Wasted time-outs, poor playcalling, botched subsitutions; he just looks lost out there I don't care how many of the players think he is their friend: his job isn't to make friends, it is to win football games. He has a 2-27!! record against winning teams. He doesn't utilize his players strengths. He hired Turk who had not previous OC experience. What a joke that was. This team looks like it could be dangerous now with a different coaching staff.
  24. I know this team had the 30th ranked defense. I know this team has routinely taken CB's in the 1st round (Winfield, Clements, Whitner, McKelvin) and where has that got them??? Ohhhh yeah, no playoff appearences in 8 SEASONS its not too hard to figure out, you need to take big bodies with your 1st round pick; O or D line If this team want to effectively run the Cover 2, they need ot consistent pressure with their front 4. Ohhh yeah, the bills had only 26 sacks last season which was 2nd to last. You sheep can keep gloating over this pick all you want Maybe we can pick 5'9" corner with our 5th overall selection next season....
