  1. Thank you for a rational take on the situation. Who we end up with as DC and OC (and the draft) will either make or break him. Meanwhile, I will reserve judgment on Jauron. How many of you are willing to do the same? And, please, spare us from any more ageist comments about Ralph and Marv. It was marginely humorous initially, but wears thin and says more about you than about these two highly successful and sharp men.
  2. With a young QB, mistakes are inevitable. He will learn. What troubles me the most also is his inacuracy as a passer. Look at the best ones - they can thread the needle. To date, JP has demonstrated an inability to do that. Perhaps, he can improve, but accuracy seems like an innate ability (like the arm strength he has), something that cannot be taught. I hope I'm wrong ....
  3. Hire Sherman. Gray leaves in disappointment. Hire Cottrell as DC. Works for me!
  4. Don't rule it out. We could (and recently have) done worse.
  5. Ted Cottrell. A coach that players respect. Plus, he deserves a chance.
  6. Close. TD was a fool for SIGNING Bledsoe and then not building an offensive line to support the player that he is (an accurate passer who needs time and protection.) What good are the good receivers that he drafted, if the QB has no time to find them or allow them to get deep?
  7. That's certainly crossed my mind. I'm not ready to give up on him yet, but he has clearly shown that he is not yet ready for prime time. Is he a (strong) rag arm? Looks that way so far! (I hope I'm wrong.)
  8. Don't forget signing Schobel last year or Moorman the year before. Like everyone, TD makes his mistakes in drafting players (see, e.g., Big Mike) but he (or someone) has a talent for recognizing a good one at a low profile spot on the roster and signing him on the cheap before he hits the FA market.
  9. The sad truth is that Bennie has contributed more to this team than Mike this year. Move him out and use the money saved to sign Moulds to a new (more approppriate) contract.
  10. Lindell is not the diaster that we all assumed - a better than average kicker on a team that needs help more elsewhere.
  11. A very good point. Why give up a number one draft pick for a stationary but incredibly accurate QB and then not put together an offensive line that can protect him? Does anyone else think we would be 4-1 and atop the divison right now if we had hung unto Drew one more year (even with our OL with its bargain basement talent) while JP manages to figure out the difference between college level and NFL football (if he ever does)?
  12. Yes, let's give them both credit. They came through when we needed them.
  13. Good luck - you are in SC where Pizza Hut regularly wins the "best of" awards. However, if you are ever around Columbia (Lexington), try Antonina's next to Lexington High School on US #1. Not Bocce's, but pretty good. The folks who run it are right out of NYC.
  14. He doesn't get too much recognition around here either - maybe it's just tough to follow Bruce Smith.
  15. Drew is a talented, knowledgeable QB who (unlike all of us, of course) also has some now well-known limitations that have been dicussed ad nauseum. He will never consitently light em up unless he has a very good, AND well-coached offensive line, a combination that he never had here and, given TD's draft priorities, he might never have had in Buffalo. So, he was a bad fit here. He may be a better fit at Dallas, but his time is running out if he is to ever be a winner. Give him credit for last week and 40,000 yards - neither is the work of a journeyman QB. Wish him well (unless they play the Bills) and let's move on!! The last I checked, we have a new QB.
  16. Madden is obnoxious - yes. Madden knows his football - yes. Who do you propose that would be an improvement?
  17. Ritzmann and/or Gause will be on the PS and available if one of them goes down. Bannan can play DE. I think they wanted to keep the extra WR until Roscoe is back. Then one WR will go and whichever DE is on the practice squad will join the 53.
  18. As much as I'd like to disagree, the evidence isn't there. I hate to kiss off the season while our pro-bowl veterans get older and JP makes mistake after mistake. Is Kelly the longterm answer? No, but JP does not appear to be ready to take us anywhere this year. I'm still hoping, but it's getting more and more difficult.
  19. He's doing OK tonight. Is he a future HOFer? No. Is he good enough to win with a good supporting cast, yes! With the salary cap, no one can have an all-star at every position - so they pick and choose. TD thinks his priorities are the correct ones - time will tell!
  20. I doubt that it was his choice - it was the coaches. I don't get it, after he hit a 54 yarder last week and narrowly missed a sceond one. Why?
  21. I got it off the Net because I thought it was just one ugly guy. But, after watching the National Geographic special on 9/11 the other night, I was surprised to see the same picture and (since it was on so briefly) I'm not sure, but I think it was the mastermind of the 9/11 bombing or someone about as evil. Does anyone know for sure who it is? Either way, he has to go now that I understand the association. I'm shopping for a better one - be patient!
  22. I didn't see it, but a 20 yard sack sounds like "happy feet." An experienced QB would have eaten 7 or 8. Does anyone who saw it have a perspective on it? Regardless, I hope it is a learning experince for JP. Who cares about the score!
