  1. Fella is a DT and former wrestler. Sean McD approves of this message.
  2. You'll be fortunate to get Kincaid or Mayer at 27. You can't trade down if you are aiming at one of them. You could trade down for Washington most likely. I'd add LaPorta to those three as the best in the draft. I think they are all gone before 59, so you either take one in the first, trade back, or trade up from 59.
  3. Well, I don't think it logically follows that because Reid is better at scheming folks open that the players that are schemed open are inferior weapons. You could speculate that some of the Bills' offensive woes were due to lesser play calling, but unless you can experiment with identical conditions, it's hard to make definitive comparison.
  4. Do you really thing folks don't know that Andy Reid is a superlative offensive coach? Naturally that is an advantage.
  5. I'm under the impression AZ is dealing Hopkins to get out from under the contract. They might conceivably retain some of it, but I think this particular scenario is unlikely.
  6. You are obsessed, pal.
  7. My favorite two and in that order. Please get one of them, Beane.
  8. No to Campbell in the first. Still think Addison was a good choice. It's a bad class, but he is definitely a cut above the round two wrs, especially if you are waiting to 59. What this draft is really showing is that having an early and mid second might be better if you can make a couple of trades to make that happen.
  9. Very clever narrative. I find it plausible.
  10. Well, I agree (as I indicated) with Beck Water's post directly above yours. The hypothetical you portray is indeed a continuation of the standard Process. I hope they alter their habitual procliviites. If they are going D early, I'd rather they invested at a superlative DT or Edge. I don't believe Campbell is anything more than a safe pick at a position that doesn't merit 27, let alone a trade up.
  11. I understand about Metcalf. That's why you might take a shot on Johnston if he is available at 27 if you think he has a comparable ceiling and a reasonable chance of reaching it. He's a risk and is not that player out of the box.
  12. Yes, you are in the camp with @Shaw66 who are satisfied with Davis and think he is a solid wr2. That's fine. Your argument is basically that Davis' critics want another number 1, not a wr2. If Davis did not appear to have chronic injury problems and if he did not have enough key drops for that to be noticed by average fans, I think he would be an average 2. I don't see him as better than average despite the numbers you gesture towards. If we were not a team in a SB window, he'd be nothing to fixate over, but I think we are in an era of supercharged offense and that is a position I would like to upgrade. It's not a hole on the roster, so if it can't be upgraded it's not a crisis situation, it's just my preference. There are other ways to attack offensive problems. Improving the oline ought to be priority number one and if that becomes a strength, it will have a good affect for offensive performance generally. Slot receiver needs to be more proficient; maybe Shakir is ready for that, I don't know. I'd like to get a much better TE2, assuming Dorsey will incorporate the weapons given to him into a coherent gameplan. Hypothetically, and I agree with @GunnerBill that he is a boom or bust prospect, so you might be wary of drafting him, I think Quintin Johnston could be a DK Metcalf type player. I would prefer that to Davis. If you brought in Dalton Kincaid, I think he would be another dangerous weapon at a different position, but someone the opposing D would have to account for and gameplan against. If that happens, I am fine with Davis because I think you have added enough elsewhere to lessen the attention the D can place on Diggs and overall made the offense less predictable and harder to defend.
  13. Should be. They need a few parts. KO should retire. Maybe Rousek is ready to fill that role, but they might want another gritty vet. Ideally, you'd bring in a vet goalie like Varlamov or Freddie Andersen to pair with Levi. You definitely need a couple of veteran D. The top of the blueline has great young talent, but Mule takes injuries and in general the lack of talent below the top 3 and a poor or incoherent defensive system are the main deficiencies that need to be addressed. Well, special teams are not that great, either. I still expect a huge leap and having Levi should make the whole team better.
  14. You can't prove a counter-factual, but I think if he is here from the start, Sabres are easily north of 100 points.
  15. Stop telling the other GMs who to pick.
  16. There are plenty of good discussions that could be searched were one good at that sort of thing and possessed of sufficient leisure on where Davis ranks as a wr that reference his catch percentage, stats that show how in a few games he was very productive and practically absent in many, etc. Folks argue that wr2 plays a specific role and that wide variance in performance from game to game is common; that you can't know for instance if in a particular gameplan the wr2 isn't mainly being used to run long go-routes to clear out space underneath for other targets. Some suggest that Davis is not a chain mover wr and that his forte is naturally going to involve lower percentage catch scenarios. These are qualitative considerations. I'm not a gofer to pull up the stats or type out dozens of names at the behest of a request that takes ten seconds to type out. The point is that I am aware the calculations are rather complex in making an assessment, but in general, for whatever reason, Davis too often had games where drops were an issue or where he was not enough of a threat to offer a compelling secondary worry for the opposing D. Most likely deficiencies at the slot position were at least as significant a factor in the offense breaking down, along with a porous oline, Josh's injury, and Dorsey's presence as a first year OC. Nonetheless, imo, he was not any better than adequate and often far too inconsistent and injury prone to be judged above low end wr2.
  17. 27. Dalton Kincaid TE Utah 59. Drew Sanders LB Arkansas 91. Matthew Bergeron OT Syracuse 130. Bryce Ford-Wheaton WR West Virginia 137. Olusegun Oluwatimi OC Michigan 205. Dante Stills DT West Virginia
  18. If they go cb again in the first I really will lose it. I'd rather take Mazi over Jack Campbell if they are going to burn another first rounder on D. I would probably take Mayer from that list.
  19. I think the guards signed in FA are pretty modest upgrades, though Saffold was awful, so it should help. I'd like to grab an OT prospect in round two or three. I think they need more than a tweak to the WR group, but it's a poor draft for WR. I don't think we can actually afford Hopkins. As I have said quite a bit, I like the TE group. I would treat Kincaid as a substitute for a WR pick at 27. If they go D in the first, I'd like to trade up from 59 and grab Darnell Washington. Those are my preferences. I am less worried about MLB. I think you could sign a fella like Myles Jack after the draft and survive if you didn't find a player in the draft. I am not as high on Campbell as many of you are. He's a high floor fella. I don't think he's going to be great. I don't look words up in a thesaurus. That's how I speak. I'm not going to apologize. If you don't like it, put me on ignore. This is a football message board. I offer my opinions and interact with fellow fans of the team. I think that is how it is supposed to work.
  20. If Josh isn't unhappy with his oline I would be quite surprised.
  21. Maybe we ought to grab the potential young Kelce.
  22. Well, I think that is a cogent consideration. Some on this board think it is ill-advised or even ridiculous to believe that could be a factor in Beane's decision making process. You don't want to let the players dictate your team building, but it seems reasonable to me that when your top players on offense are unhappy with the personnel and one of them is the franchise qb you ought to give that some weight. I don't believe he really thinks that and if he does, he's flat out wrong. He's a low end WR2.
  23. I think you're joking, but if you want to make Diggs happy, get him a better WR2 and OL help for Josh.
  24. You couldn't have at least picked an NFC team?
  25. Yes, as I explained upthread, I do not get NFL Network. I recalled that Brooks used to do mock drafts and guessed that he might be the fella.
