  1. Yeah, I penciled him in at #60.
  2. I think this is not a draft to get a DE. There are very few worth taking early, and those fellas won't reach #28. So, WR is where the focus should be early, and then again in the mid-rounds, at least one more. I'd rather load up at WR, DT, and S. Traded back here, because the top tier at WR was picked clean. I really like how it played out, which means it's utterly unrealistic. 37. Troy FranklinWR Oregon 60. McKinnley JacksonDT Texas A&M 94. Mike SainristilCB Michigan 98. DeWayne CarterDT Duke 124. 3. I just don't buy him. We already have big redzone targets in Kincaid and Knox. Someone is going to take Wilson too early gambling he might turn into the next Plexico Burress, and I think they lose that bet.
  4. I brought him up several times about a month ago. I like him a lot, but he's going way too early for a team that needs WR, DL, and maybe S in the first two days. Isaiah Davis in the mid rounds, or maybe Kendall Milton late is more in the ballpark.
  5. I do think Mitchell is more in play than many here may suspect. I'd still prefer someone with more speed, but he has some good traits.
  6. I have not been an uncritical supporter of McDermott, but I don't see him as a hypocrite who never takes responsibility. If that were true, he would not command the evident respect that he does among the players. When that fella with an axe to grind (Dunne) posted his poison pen article, the team rallied around him. That should tell you something -- though obviously, many have already concluded otherwise. To each his own. I disagree with your judgment.
  7. Why you always have to come around and tell Warriorspikes51 Santa Claus isn't real?
  8. Indeed, facts are always contextual and relative to a larger, encompassing narrative.
  9. I'm not, unless we draft him. Then I am instantly worried about the prospect.
  10. Kept trading down from #28 because I knew the current PFN board has Legette rated ridiculously low. As a result, ended up with a lot of nice relatively early picks. It's still a bad draft for edge players, so only picked up that fella from Western Michigan that seems to have generated some buzz, but this is a pretty good haul. Also, lots of folks have the ND LB Liufau rated way higher, so I don't know why he is always a late day 3 pick on this board. 44. T'Vondre SweatDT Texas 66. Xavier LegetteWR South Carolina 88. 11. Isn't that in the flipper?
  12. I like Braelon Allen early, but we can't take a RB when he will go. And I like Kendall Milton late. In between, if you take a mid-round RB, I like Isaiah Davis if you go big, and Laube if you go for a more versatile back. He is intriguing.
  13. If you compare PFN and PFF, their boards are quite different. And no doubt, individual teams have disparate boards with some significant variance, not to mention how free agency and the Combine, etc. will change needs and draft fortunes. So, in short, it's a complete time waster to think one can use a mock simulator to model possibilities. Yet, what else can a Bills' fan do this time of year? So, I like this one. Went off-script a bit in the second, but overall, it's a nice mix. 28. Brian Thomas Jr. WR LSU 65. Sedrick Van Pran OC Georgia 100. Maason Smith DT LSU 129. Brenden Rice WR USC 141. 14. I think by the time the Combine is over, Legette will be and should be a consideration at #28. Don't really like Worthy so much because he is a toothpick.
  15. There's no way in Hades Beane would take 3 WRs in a row. McD would go ballistic, and Cowing at #99 makes no sense with the holes on D. It's very unlikely Beane would take WR with the first two picks, though I think Thomas and Legette would be an outstanding start to the draft. Here's one that goes heavy on D after the same first two. 28. Brian Thomas Jr. WR LSU 60. Xavier Legette WR South Carolina 99. DeWayne Carter DT Duke 128. Javon Solomon EDGE Troy 158. 16. Volume II of Iain McGilchrist's The Matter with Things. It's really quite brilliant, though hard to categorize. Part neurological science, part philosophy and cultural criticism.
  17. I'm afraid to respond and start an epidemic of down turned thumbs. Sorry, I missed the witticism. Distracted by a book I am trying to read through on a rare Monday off.
  18. It was just a joke, but have fun with that.
  19. Just gave you the "thumbs down" for fun. I agree about the preferences.
  20. Yeah, I just pointed out that in a mock, I took DT in the second, and S in the third, with 2 DT, 1 Edge, and 2 S each selected in the draft as a whole. There's no way FA will cover all the defensive holes. Hopefully, it does enough to provide the capacity for some flexibility in what is prioritized in the draft. All the same, I expect as I have said repeatedly now, WR, DT, and S to be the first three picks. Had to edit, as I went back and saw I only took 1 Edge. It's not a great draft at the position. Still, that is the most plausible path. All I add is that if a really good WR falls to #60, even if we grabbed one in the first, I'd like to think Beane could find a way to take advantage, and employ the rest of the draft to supplement the D. Whether or not that is actually possible is another matter.
  21. I just put a mock in the simulator thread. I think it's reasonable, though obviously just playing out various possible scenarios. No doubt the valuation of specific players is going to change a lot, and the actual boards of NFL teams will doubtless differ greatly from these simulator lists. It goes WR, DT, S, DT, WR, S, Edge, RB, OT, WR. In short, it follows the most likely heuristic based on need and past proclivities at OBD. Regardless, I expect Beane will find a way to finagle the cap sufficiently to bring back enough vets to lessen overall dependence on rookies.
  22. Tiny trade back with Detroit that allowed a move up in the third. 29. Brian Thomas Jr.WR LSU 60. T'Vondre SweatDT Texas 73. Cole BishopS Utah 128. DeWayne CarterDT Duke 158. 23. I believe Rachad Wildgoose is currently a free agent. We really need to draft Storm Duck and at least get Wildgoose on our practice squad. I'm not sure how that benefits us, but my poetic sense intuits positive cosmic karma implications. Not enough attention is given to the possibility of puns based off of the names of potential professional athletes.
  24. You have to be willfully obtuse to fail to recognize that Beane has not invested at WR early in a manner commensurate with positional value. He's been counting on Josh Allen elevating mid-level picks and modest free agents for the most part. It's not a sound strategy.
  25. He can post a picture of Taylor Swift on IG for all I care. He's not going to walk away from a big payday, and I don't think he has enough trade value to be able to force his way out if that were his inclination.
