When Spiller wins football games for the Buffalo Bills, I promise to heap weekly praises upon him. Until then, I will view him as an exceptionally dumb situational player with talent. But we certainly can agree to disagree, no?

We can pretend that Spiller is a dynamic player. It is probably fun to do, but the fact is that he just is not. He has far too many plays in which he gains 2 or less yards. He cannot block. He often comes up short of the first down, and he is just plain dumb. Spiller is a decent situational player and even at that he needs lots of help. He doesn't seem to see holes very well and needs wide lanes. And let's not forget the injuries. Other than the above, he was a solid draft selection at #9.

Probably not, but maybe Spiller, a #9 selection of an NFL draft, is on his way out. Do you think this is possible? I for one do. If you disagree, let's have a conversation about all of the football games Spiller has won for the Buffalo Bills.

I can understand this. Btw, you were ahead of your time in talking of the importance of RTs. The thing is they still cost less, generally speaking. Fluker was the perfect RT selection last year, whereas he is a pure bruiser and will probably stay at RT. I do however think that things have changed a lot due to the new CBA. Draft choices cost pennies now, and it would seem to be a great idea to have talented, cheap OTs. This of course also applies to the QB position. Jmo.

What makes you think that if we don't draft an OT at #9 we won't lose Glenn?

Yes, they were good. The RT and Center got better as the season progressed, but nowhere near the level of 2012, and I mean not remotely close. Kouandjio is a good kid. If he is healthy he will play well in the NFL. He could play the right side, but don't expect a DJ Fluker. He might need more time to adjust. As far as RT is concerned, I think Fluker is more suited and even better than any prospect in this draft and yes, this includes Robinson. And btw, I am starting to believe that Matthews really might be there at #9. If the Bills draft him, it will be VERY interesting to see where he lines up.

Please trust me on this one CB, the above is not entirely true. It WAS true in 2012, NO question. In fact, I would call that OL the best I have ever seen in college. The OL in 2013 was good, not spectacular. After 2012 they lost Barret Jones, Chance Warmack and DJ Fluker. It is not possible to replace 3 players like this. Only Steen and Kouandjio remained from 2013, and they were the two worst players on the line in 2012. This must sound far fetched, and of course I am simply a fan posting on a message board, but I watch every game they play, and this is where I mainly focus. In 2013, the Tide was STACKED at skill positions, NOT on the lines. And wait until this fall in terms of skill positions. They have no less that 3 running backs who might be great.

Promo, please. Can you ever skip an opportunity to bash fellow Bills Fans? What do we know for sure than Brandon has done? He are a few things..... 1) He ruined tailgates in Lot 1. 2) He banned cigarette smoking in secluded outdoor areas of RWS. 3) He was in charge when they drafted Maybin. 4) He hired an unproven Syracuse crony for head coach. This admittedly can turn into a plus, but how confident are you? This isn't about fans being the problem. He will win over the fans when he does something to make this team win football games.

I really can relate to this. Most don't know this about me but I am a recovering jet fan. I am from Queens and used to go to Shea and watch games. When they moved to NJ I was through with them forever. I consider myself the consummate New Yorker and ran to the Buffalo Bills. I have 3 beautiful successful daughters. They are Bills Fans because of me. Being a Bills Fan is part of my identity. I've been to approx. 18 Bills games and have met truly wonderful people thanks to this board. My girls are LOYAL, just as you stated. And they know what it means to not quit. They are all college girls. One graduated Dartmouth and had a free ride to Temple Law School. The other did Stony Brook and is thinking about a Masters. The baby is in Binghamton. They worked and studied. They surpassed me whereas I am just a street guy from Queens who grew up poor and had a very tough job. My babies didn't give up because they are like US. Sorry to ramble, but I make the case that being a Bills Fan really CAN build character. We will argue all day, but Bills Fans share a bond and an ethic. We will complain, but we won't give up. Thanks Mr. Wilson for giving me and my children something to hope for, and this sense of loyalty. Some day (and I don't know how), we are going to win. We really are. In a way, we already have.

RIP Mr. Wilson. Thanks for providing a product that I share with friends and loved ones. You gave us decades of something to cheer for.

1) CB, let's back up and be calm. Does this sound like a good idea? 2) You have pointed out that I am older than you. I want to point out to you that times have changed. If you want the Bills to make the playoffs, they will need a good qb. It can be EJ or someone else. You mentioned Bradford. He signed for more than twice as much as Luck. The Bills, if they like a qb at #9, could pay him AND EJ combined about the same (don't hold me to the exact dollar amount) that they paid Donte Whitner in 2006. Consider this if you will.....2006. 3) Different scenarios exist. Please hear me out....EJ could start, he wins some games but gets injured. A kid comes in to replace him and also wins a bunch of games. The Bills would be in a tremendous position in terms of trade value. I mean simply great. Many years ago, before the rule changes, the Bills traded a #9 and if I recall a 4th for Rob Johnson. They had to sign him to a 5 year/25 million dollar contract. That was huge money in those days. Today, a low paid qb is worth his weight in gold. 4) You have accused me of ONLY wanting Alabama players, no? Talk about hyperbole? Who have I touted this year? I DON'T want Mosley at #9. I am not at all high on Kouandjio, and if they take Clinton-Dix at 9 I will be more angry than you can imagine. Keep in mind that I have watched virtually all of their games. You want some good Tide players? I do. Put me down for Kevin Norwood. He catches passes in the end zone. This kid can truly get open. Picture a young SJ. I would also like Vinnie Sunseri in round 5 or later. 5) You ARE more patient than me. No doubt about it. I am not about waiting 4 years for McKelvin at #11 to be good. I am not about waiting at least 2 years for Gilmore not to lose us football games. Guilty as charged. How about you? 6) I enjoy our different opinions. Not so long ago you took a poster to task about perceived insults. You seem to be hurling them about these days. Just something to perhaps consider, ya know? It's ok with me mind you but it is a bit odd. Alex Marvez said the other day that many feel that if Murray would have entered the 2013 draft, he would have been the first QB selected. Priceless!!! No joke is funny imo unless one can see images. I am picturing fans in the stands and watching TV sitting there reading MRI results during the game! Lately I have been really enjoying the humor of Bills Fans. The hurry-up, looking back, was beyond funny. The GM, head coach, OC, and QB were all rookies. Yeah, let's hurry on up and hand off to a scat back so he can run up the middle. Here's to hoping that we can get it right at some point. I would be bowled over with joy for a wild card spot. 2014 Bills- featuring the "hurry-up and wait 'til next season" offense

That goes without saying. EJ is the most talented qb in NFL history. He would have went before Elway, and if this was 1983 he would have been the first qb off the board. Given the above, why bring in competition, right? Sounds good. Can I have dibs on predicting that EJ is a lock for the hall of fame, or are you already on that?

I am sorry that you had a seemingly bad day yesterday. When you watch Gilmore, I would imagine that you see Mel Blount in his prime (assuming that you have heard of him). I see a player who gets beat often and constantly holds. Can he get better? Sure! McKelvin was VERY good last season after 4 so-so years. Imo, what confuses fans about Gilmore is the way he LOOKS as opposed to the way he plays, and of course his draft slot. Gilmore is a big fast kid, and he looks like he could lift up my car. But he needs to get much better in coverage. First round picks (let alone top 10) are given more opportunities. Someone posted that Mike Williams started 53 games. If Graham is a better player, I hope that he starts. That's all. I am just talking football. In no way did I intend to offend your sense of propriety. If I did so, please forgive me, OK?

It is mind boggling because of the new CBA. Beerman, Donte Whitner was drafted at #8 in 2006. He was paid more than 30 million dollars by the Buffalo Bills (I think 32). He even held out!!! ANDREW LUCK will be paid FAR less than this. Times have changed. EJ has promise I suppose, but he was NOT good last season. If the Bills brass really likes a QB they should draft him. With the new CBA there is little to lose.

It depends on how good the RT is, dontcha think? As a Tide Fan, I got to see almost every game that Fluker played. He was one of the easiest college players to rate that I have ever watched. The Chargers took him at #11 and he was instrumental in getting them to the playoffs. And watch him get even better!!! I have not seen enough of Lewan to make a pertinent comment about how good he is. What I will say is that if he is up there with Fluker they should run up to the podium and grab him. I think that the Bills will draft a wideout in round 1. A player such as Evans will sell tickets. A Right Tackle will not, no matter how good he is. This is not the philosophy that I embrace, but it's better than the Bills wasting #9 ON Clinton-Dix and again, I am a Tide Fan. I would probably be ok with Aaron Donald after a trade down as well. This draft is said to be deep at WR. I don't want the Bills to waste the #9 on one, let alone a defensive back, but we ARE the Bills, ya know?

Ironically, they also finished 28th in time of possession, despite being 2nd in rushing yardage. This is beyond belief. The reasons for this (imo) are as follows: 1) Rookie OC who was not at all flexible. 2) Rookie QB with big problems. 3) Horrible LG. 4) This mess was overseen by a rookie head coach who looked lost, and was terrible at managing the clock, especially before the half. I mean Rich Kotite bad. It is amazing that the Petine defense put up those numbers. They were weary from being on the field too long, and suffered injuries in the secondary. Players such as Hughes, A. Williams and McKelvin had zero history of making game changing plays yet they all thrived in the Petine system. So I agree, Schwartz really needs to keep this system in place. And all of the above problems need mending. They were "hurrying up" to do things they lacked the ability to do. And much of the blame rests upon the shoulders of the head coach imo. I REALLY want Marrone to excel. He is from the Bronx, and once said that if he didn't work in football he would have wanted to be a state trooper. How does one not like a guy like this? But sadly, I get the feeling that he is in way over his head. Am I wrong?
