  1. And injury could very well take EJ (or any other player) out of the line up once again. His history could serve to increase the odds of this happening. Due to the new CBA, the Bills are spending mere pennies at the qb position. They would (imo) be idiots not to draft a quarterback if they think that he is good. That said, they will probably not draft one. Count me as one who is all in on one of the 3 SEC QBs in round 2. And if they think that ANY qb will be great, I hope they take him at #9.
  2. And Kyle Williams was a 5th round pick. The first 4 rounds of the 2006 draft set this team back at least 5 years, and I called it when it happened. This was the debut of Levy/Jauron, perhaps the most inept combination in the history of the NFL. This draft was absolutely stacked with players that the team needed, AND we had an extra early 3rd round pick (which we used to actually trade up for McCargo). Sure, there were a slew of idiotic picks after 2006, but this particular draft is the primary cause of not making the playoffs, let alone the loser free agents that Levy/Jauron gave big money to.
  3. And I agree with you. In fact, I would not want the Bills to draft Watkins even if he dropped to #9. This draft is said to be absolutely stacked at WR. Gil Brandt says there are 8 players who are first round quality. They could trade down and easily draft a WR. This team isn't strong enough to throw away multiple picks on 1 receiver. We don't even know if we have a decent quarterback (talk about heresy). If they really feel as if they have to move, I hope they move down, get an extra pick or 2, and draft a quarterback.
  4. Marrone was a crony hire by Brandon. They are Syracuse buddies. He was WAY over his head last year but having Pettine truly did help. This year is make or break for Marrone and your guess is as good as mine.
  5. Math tells us that Fred will be lucky to finish this season. Sorry, there are few RBs his age. The Bills need to draft his replacement next week.
  6. Let's not forget the injury risk which is ALWAYS substantial.
  7. 1. Johnny Manziel - Houston 2. Jadeveon Clowney - Rams 3. Blake Bortles - Jax 4. Khalil Mack - Falcons 5. Mike Evans - Tampa
  8. I agree with this. The Bills are not in a position to trade away their best resources. Not at all. And, what happens if the player they trade up for gets hurt? Or if EJ is a bust? These things are possible. Yeah, the very last thing (almost) I want to see is the Bills trading up. This is nothing but a hunch, but imo Houston wants Johnny Football. I don't think that they want him at #1. I think they would like to pick up some extra picks and take him. I suspect this because if he turns out to be good, the GM will be fired due to fan backlash and the owner missing out on millions of dollars. Again, just a hunch.
  9. If the Bills do not trade up, 2 of their first 4 picks will be defensive backs.
  10. When Glenn becomes a UFA, chances are he will test the free agent waters whether or not we leave him at LT. These guys get huge contracts and it would be silly to think that Glenn would stay because we didn't change his position. This is what I meant when I responded to your post. I also will add that right now, Glenn would seem to be the only player on the Bills roster who is capable of playing LT. Pears isn't, and I do not count on Hairston at all since his injury. Do you? My point is that the Bills need a RT, AND a player who is capable of playing LT in case of injury, or down the road. If one of the top OTs in the draft fills these crucial needs, it would make huge sense to grab him if he's there. He is also 31 years old. If he was playing out his first contract it would have been a lot higher.
  11. And if Cordy DOESN'T get moved he will seek LT money on the open market (and get it). This is how it works. And it would be nice to have another quality OT on the roster as opposed to being forced to draft at a certain position (ala EJ Manuel).
  12. I don't want to make a cash wager, but I am down for a friendly, comedy type wager. If Murray isn't drafted in rounds 1 or 2, I will post, "I know nothing about the NFL Draft. If you have any questions, contact C.Biscuit97." Of course if he is, you can post the reverse. Sound OK?
  13. Yet I suspect that Murray is going to sneak into the first round, or early second. Just a hunch.
  14. He only played a few games for us but in 1998 or so, the Bills signed a linebacker Wayne Simmons. From as far back as his college days, he was accused of DUI, a slew of assaults (some against women), and forcible rape. He died at a fairly young age in a car accident. I remember being a bit shocked when they signed him.
  15. It's not a deal I would jump on, but it (imo) is proof that many fans place more value on our players than they are actually worth. The new CBA made draft picks cost pennies. The rule changes made it a QB driven league. These are facts that are beyond dispute.
  16. So would I but you know.....they were supposedly offered a 5th for Spiller. I can't imagine a team giving up a 3rd for Stevie given his contract, let alone the fact that this draft is said to be absolutely stacked at the WR position. Rookies make next to nothing with the new CBA. The more I think about it, the more it seems to me that SJ has little to no trade value.
  17. It's bad because early draft picks are the best resource an NFL team has. You should never, ever build your team around the secondary, or for that matter running backs. This is historically what the Bills do, and it has resulted in losing football games.
  18. How many players in recent years have fetched a first round pick via a trade?
  19. The post with his cap hit is telling CB. His cap numbers are higher than those of Wes Welker. http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/9048556/wes-welker-agrees-terms-denver-broncos I know that Stevie has talent. I appreciate his ability to get open. But compared to other posts that I read, I think that I tend to place less value on current players (with mileage and prior injuries), and more value on draft choices. In other words, if I was the GM and a team wanted to trade up, I would demand that they pay through the nose, or no deal. Wrt to SJ, there are several factors to be considered: 1) Woods might already be a better wr than SJ. I am not saying that he is, but it wouldn't surprise me. 2) Again, we don't know, but Williams might be something special. 3) This draft is said to be absolutely STACKED at WR. Gil Brandt says this over and over. Coach Gruden was raving about a wr from Oregon State. He stopped just short of depicting his as great, and I never even heard of him. 4) #3 is tricky. It would seem to make Stevie more expendable, but it might also serve to diminish his trade value. Bottom line? Stevie is a good but not great player. If a team was willing to cough up a 3rd round pick, AND the Bills think it would it would be easy to replace him, I wouldn't object to a trade. Would you?
  20. Agreed, and he isn't worth anything close to a second round pick. They would be lucky (imo) to get a 4th. And btw I am not calling for a trade but if it happens, I have a feeling that the Bills will somehow recover from this staggering loss. I know I will.
  21. Promo, I once posted that I thought Rob Johnson would be a great quarterback. Then, I changed my mind. Once you posted that Alex Van Pelt should start for the Bills. Do you still think this? What is the big freaking deal?
  22. C'mon CB. Everything helps. Did you call for patience in another thread or was that someone else? Fluker did as much and more as one would have a right to expect from a rookie OT. If he stays healthy, he will only get better. If Fluker was the RT for the Bills, Spiller might even be able to pick up a first down on 3rd and 2. I mean.....it's possible.
  23. DJ Fluker. He was a #11. His qb had a much better season, they ran better, and the team made the playoffs. Next question?
  24. Gotcha. I for one hope that the Bills select a qb early if they strongly feel that they have a good one available. And thank you. Do accept my best wishes for a happy Easter to you and your loved ones.
