  1. As a life long Crimson Tide Fan, here is my take: Ragland is portrayed as a big hitter of sorts. He IS, but he wasn't THE biggest hitter on the Tide, as hard as this must be to believe. In my strong opinion, Ragland wasn't even the hardest hitting LB on the Tide! Reuben Foster (who stayed in school ) hits like a truck. Here ya go: What Ragland is GREAT at is being around the football. He is NOT as bad in coverage as some claim. AGAIN, he is right there where the football is. Guys like that can win you games with big plays. He can blitz too, but I openly confess that I do not understand what Ryan is trying to do on defense. Ragland can be effective as a blitzing LB, better than his college numbers indicate. But it won't work as well when Hughes and Dareus are running backwards into pass coverage. How could it? As much as I like the pick, Whaley continues to be a concern with regards to trading away our resources, let alone the contract to McCoy and even Clay. And he still has not addressed the RT position, which is just stupid. In summary, I urge fellow Bills Fans not to worry so much about Ragland. The kid can play. From where I sit, Whaley and the Ryans are the problem, but not for long imo. GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. You are a huge Bills Fan bandit. Surely you have seen the results of using too many resources on defensive backs and running backs. It was one of the primary causes of the lack of playoff appearances for 16 years. Of this there is little doubt. I don't know if you agree but imo Tyrod is the qb of the future. Of course I might be mistaken. We need to protect him as much as possible and at this time there are college teams who are stronger and deeper at RT than we are. My guess is there are several of them. I also see a need for pure pass rushers. They are just so hard to get, but do you trust Ryan to use them properly? Btw, I am all in for another receiver. As I said before, offense might be the way to go despite our defensive needs. My feeling about this will certainly change once they get rid of Rex. Thanks for the well wishes Bro. :)
  3. It might really be a good idea to focus on offense because Rex doesn't seem to have much of a say in it. Another receiver, a RT, and some OL depth could probably do a lot for the Bills.
  4. You want to use a #1 pick on an injured safety? I don't think I would brag so much about that.
  5. Aren't you sick of all those playoff appearances that using our resources on defensive backs took us to?
  6. Do you think CJ Mosely is "at best a run stuffer?" Mosely is what we wished Kiko to be and 10x more. Ragland doesn't cover the pass as well as CJ, but he can cover some and he is MUCH stronger. National title or not, I don't think that many understand the 2015 Crimson Tide. They were great because of the defense, which had 8 or 9 players on the DL who were spectacular. It was hard for lbs to get many sacks in their system because the linemen were applying just so much pressure, and the dbs occasionally were sent in to blitz. If there is any concern about Ragland, it is the 13 reps at the combines which was strange. Some say he was hurt but who knows? I do really think that he would take a far more active role on the Bills than he did on the Tide. I am NOT being a wiseass but Rex sends players such as Dareus and Mario Williams on pass coverage, or has them standing there jumping and waving in an idiotic system. Kirby Smart let his linemen do their job. My point is that Ragland would have far more responsibilities on the Bills. I don't know how many games he would win us, nor how many games we even CAN win with Rex. What I DO know is that Ragland is a fine player who is big, strong, quick, smart, and listens to his coaches, and I have watched him in every game he has ever played at Alabama.
  7. Norman getting a deal like this tells me yet again that if Gilmore is even almost as good as people here claim, he should be traded for a first round pick. The Bills, imo, should pay more attention to signing Glenn and especially Tyrod than to giving Gilmore 50 or so million guaranteed. I don't care about the money, it isn't mine. I care about cap space.
  8. I am not sure how much better they are drafting. Sammy is good but Whaley gave up a ton for him. We gave up a 4th in a trade for a second rate running back. Kuandjio flat out sucks. EJ? Come on, really. Huge cap space has been used up on good but not great players. Otoh, Karlos was a very good pick. Hey, the draft is very important, but we are not going anywhere with this clown for a coach, let alone his loser brother. Whaley is spending like a kid in a candy store, and he should be worrying about signing Tyrod. It's still a mess.
  9. You are just on fire!!!!!! Did someone who likes aggressive defenses steal your password? :)
  10. McCoy, at that price, was an awful move. Whaley re-worked his contract. Are you thinking that this was OK?
  11. I ask the following question in terms of football discussion only. There is nothing snide to follow: If cap space and/or money was any kind of issue (imo they always matter it just varies on to what extent), which player would you rather see the Bills commit long term resources to, Tyrod Taylor or Stephon Gilmore? I think this is a pretty fair question. Edit: Also, 2 out of 3: Gilmore, Taylor and Glenn?
  12. This is a moving post, as are those by Augie, etc. I like to think that I'm a reasonably tough guy, but you men (and your families) are what I would describe as incredibly strong. As loving parents, we are only as happy as our saddest kid. I pray that your children continue to progress and live long, happy, productive lives.
  13. He has already collected 41 million dollars in (imo) undeserved salary. His gravy train ship has sailed.
  14. No, because every single person in the history of the USA who was found not guilty is 100% innocent. Signed, OJ Simpson
  15. If a player isn't worth a first round draft pick, perhaps he isn't worth an 80 million dollar contract. I am not talking in absolutes but maybe it is something to ponder.
  16. This was my point and thanks for making it better than I did. Chasing 1st round dbs goes 100% against my views of how to build a winning football team. That said, if this team had been a playoff team while doing so, I would be glad to see the process continue. And I don't back down from floating at least the possibility of a trade.
  17. This is wonderful news, and may God bless!!!
  18. Badol, I know you are not crazy about Reed and I am NOT trying to sell him to you, but I must say that imo he is a lot better than his numbers. I have not seen his 40 times at the combines but for a guy his size he is pretty quick. He is huge Badol, and at the college level disrupted many plays. As far as Robinson, he and Reed are about the same size but imo Robinson is stronger, and possibly even suited for nose tackle. He isn't very fast but again, he is very strong. As a DE in the Rex system, Reed is powerful enough to hold the edge. That said, I don't think Rex would want him because he might not be able to cover wide receivers.
  19. That is historically what the Bills do. They use top picks on corners and let them walk, only to use another top (usually first round) pick on yet another corner and repeat the process. If they are going to use an early pick on a corner in 2016, I suggest that the Bills explore a trade for Gilmore. If he is 1/2 as good as posters here claim, a first round pick for Gilmore should be a given, wouldn't you say? This would save them a HUGE amount of future cap space (remember, Tyrod is due for a contract), and the team really might not suffer. Call me crazy, but I would MUCH rather the Bills use cap space on Tyrod than on Gilmore.
  20. Any offensive tackles or guards you like?
