Over the past few years, the number of quality free agents hitting the open market has diminished quite a bit. Not saying there are no good players to be had but there isnt a luxury of riches. And about Clabo (cos someone just mentioned him), we made a pretty decent offer and it appears that he was just using the Bills for leverage in his negotiations so technically money was not the deciding factor for him.

netflix sleeper movies, series
Fan in Chicago replied to birdog1960's topic in Off the Wall Archives
If you are into the original Sherlock Holmes (and not that Robert Downey abomination), check out the Brit series called Sherlock which re-imagines SH in modern day London. They have retained the essence of the character while giving him the luxury of modern technology. Series one had 3 episodes and they are a doozy. Series 2 is airing across the pond now and should be on Netflix in a couple of months. -
If he does, I am sure it will be because nobody wanted him and as usual the Bills overpay for players who no one else wants to sign.

First of all thanks to a thoroughly entertaining thread. I was watching a bit from the sidelines and seeing you and PDaddy go at each other with great delight. Anyway, more seriously, IMHO the failure of the offense is neither of the extremes you two are fighting about. My opinion: - Fitz is no more than a caretaker, a short gap solution till we get a QB worthy of winning us the big one. So, yes, I dont think Fitz is good enough to win it all but I don't think he is an incompetent moron either (none of you said that) - I think the edges of our OL are weak. Hairston may be a solution but probably at the RT spot and not LT where some athleticism is required. Bell played well in his limited time and that is his basic problem - his inability to finish 16 games has played out far too frequently and we need a replacement. Bell can be good depth - We badly need receiving threats. Fitz's performance tanked when most of our already limited WR corps went down. Even when he had some time to throw, there were few options. And the lack of deep passes is a function of both Fitz's inaccuracy (which ggoes down the farther he has to throw) and lack of somebody who can get downfield in the 3-4 seconds that Fitz had to throw). Should sign Stevie and give him a solid #2. I do like David Nelson but only as a #3 or to convert 3rd downs. So we need 2 WRs - one as a #2 and one as a #4. I don't like Donald Jones. As to the other side of the ball, the switch to the 4-3 is good. We need: - at least 1 LB. - Pass rushing DE - One CB probably two as I don't think McGee will come back and McKelvin will be here no more than the length of his contract In short, I think Fitz is good enough to be a middle of the pack QB. He needs things to be above average around him and he cannot seriously transcend the skill set around him. But, he is good enough to support a rebuilding team. We should acquire a potentially great QB, whenever he is available.

Brady admits to throwing the ball away
Fan in Chicago replied to section122's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He had so little time and downfield view at that moment that instinctively he threw it away risking a safety than have it be a pick-6. Seems to me that this was not the talented teams of yore that BB is used to coaching in Superbowls. Hence, he resorted to some gambles which did not quite work out. This was one of them. the other was easing up on the defense to let the Giants score on their last drive so as to allow almost a minute for Brady to score. -

Should I complain that this is yet another non-Bills related topic on a Bills message board ? -
Fred Jackson to get screwed?
Fan in Chicago replied to Rob's House's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agree with all till #3. Most likely his contract will be extended by the Bills. I will add that even if the Bills don't, he will play at most one year under this contract after which he will be free to choose another team for a higher pay day. Worst case, the Bills trade him to another team that re-ups him starting in the 2012 season. Either way, FJax will not be 'screwed'. I, for one, hope he gets a new 3 year deal with the Bills. -
Gronk taking some heat for his post-game partying
Fan in Chicago replied to tomdayfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
BB should make an example of him and trade him to the Bills for a fifth. That will teach him ! Never again will he party after a superbowl. -
As a pure QB, Peyton is better. Indy rode his QB skills to much success with a weaker supporting cast than Eli has. That is the reason why PM has only one ring and why Bill Polian was kicked out. That is also why it is called a team sport. Eli is also an elite QB and may be judged as an all-time great by the time his career is over, but IMHO the answer to your question is PM>EM

Wifey stands up for poor wittle Tom Tom
Fan in Chicago replied to The Big Cat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I disagree. If they were the subject of adulation when the Pats* were winning, then they will be the target when the tide turns. Such the price of fame. Being a celebrity is as much dedication to their craft as it is image management. An athlete can choose to concentrate on their game and not be a celebrity but once that line has been crossed - as in the case of the magazine spreads that Tommy boy did or the numerous ads that Peyton Manning did, then they are fair game. They will see the good and bad side of being in the public spotlight. Hence, while it is nice and noble to defend her husband, I am not sure TB particularly appreciates it in retrospect considering what it does to his (and their) standing in the public's eye. Coming hard on the heels of a tough loss, this incident can really hurt TB. -
Mularkey's son arrested for crack
Fan in Chicago replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well said. I fail to see the humor that others in this thread are finding in this incident. As a father, I am in constant fear that my children may make bad choices despite my parenting. Also, Mularkey was classy and never did anything to earn the spite of Bills fans (besides not being a good HC). As you said, hope the kid takes this as a lesson and pulls it together -
Tasker Tweet re: Pete Metzelaars TE coach
Fan in Chicago replied to DevilsAlum's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Perhaps bringing PM indicates a new focus on the TE position. yes, gailey had a TE coach before but bringing a guy with old ties to the organization and one who worked with a good offense before (Indy) may indicate that Gailey sees the advantage of having a TE exploit the middle and soft parts of opposing Defenses. I see them drafting/acquiring speedy WRs to man the post routes and deep areas of the field while allowing the TEs to roam the middle. Attack from the back with FJax/Spiller, the deep and sideline with SJohnson+FA/draft, middle with Spiller/Chandler (?)/another TE. Now if only Fitz could consistently complete those sideline and deep routes, we would be golden. -

Bills re sign LS Garrison Sanborn

I hear there is some un-used Michael Jackson whitening cream which we can all contribute and donate to Stevie and FredJ -
Not quite very far fetched. There is no such thing as a 'reach' to get a guy you really want. Ask Billy Cundiff if a good snap could not have helped him make the FG in last weekends game. That is the difference between waltzing at the big dance and sitting in your dark basement eating stale pizza with your friends. See my comments above. I still hope Trent Richardson falls to us, else LS is good enough for me

Lee Evans taking the blame for the loss

There is still an important ex-Bill still left standing - Fewell and he has the best chance to ground the Brady mystique into LucasOil's artificial dust. -
Article on Bills' new QB coach
Fan in Chicago replied to BillnutinHouston's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Therein lies the rub. He probably saw the Jets commitment to Sanchez and thought it is too risky a situation to coach such an underperformer. He probably thinks Fitz is more 'coachable' and Sanchez is just dumber than a box of rocks. -
Giants at 49ers game thread
Fan in Chicago replied to truth on hold's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Aikman said something to the effect that "The Lambeau leap is grand fathered in". Whatever that means ! To your point about Tynes, he did give props to his team mates "Eli, offense, defense played great. ...." What else do you want him to say ? Also, in clutch situations, even short to medium field goals are not automatic. There is much more going on than the activities on the field. The mind can be the kicker worst enemy but Tynes delivered the GW FG. Props to the entire Giants team including Tynes. -
Lee Evans taking the blame for the loss
Fan in Chicago replied to Webster Guy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Feel bad for him ? For what ? He was always a good team mate. But to have the ball hit him in the hands for a potential chance to get to the Superbowl and him not fight for it or make an extra effort to secure it ? KNowing the defender was so close to him ? He is no rookie, he has several years in the league. Both these weekend's games came down to plays at critical moments (as the playoff games should be) and mistakes decisively swing the result one way or another. As a long term defender of Evans, I was very disappointed in his lack of total effort in such a huge moment. I just don't feel bad for him, it was his lack of effort that put the Pats* yet again in the Superbowl. -
If Luck turns out to be all he is made out to be, then whoever becomes the the HC will have the cushiest job in the NFL for the next 10 years.
