I understand the fans better now
mike22nc replied to DIE HARD 1967's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I really dont understand what this post is trying to get at. The Bills are 6-6, having just lost to 2 of the worst teams in the NFL in the last 3 weeks. This dropped them to last place in the division and they will, in all likelyhood, miss the playoffs for the 9th straight year. So, here's my question to you. What exactly is there to be positive about??????????!!!!!!!!!! -
Throughout his career McGee has been the left CB, pretty much regardless of who the WR was that lined up on his side. In my opinion, the only reason he has been lined up with the top WR of the other team in recent weeks is because Greer has been injured. They obviously don't trust McKelvin/Corner to line up opposite another teams #1 WR. The only exception is the NE game, in which I believe McGee was on Moss because we had Greer guarding the smaller quicker Welker, who I consider just as much a threat as Moss. I don't get where people came up with this "McGee is always on the other teams top receiver", as it's just not correct. Who was it that saved (Doh!) the Dallas game for us last year by ripping the ball from TO on the 2 PT. conversion? Now, I don't think I'm discounting McGee in any way. I think he is a good corner. I just think Greer is a special player in coverage. I've seen McGee make some nice plays in coverage, but most of the time they are made down the field instead of in press coverage. Very often you see the WR on McGee's side catch the ball in front of him 5-15 yards from the LOS, while that happens much more seldom on Greer. McGee is often 8-12 yards off the LOS to begin the play. Now, this is obiviously determined by the play the coach has called, but you have to wonder why Greer is trusted to play press coverage more often than McGee is, don't you? Greer needs to be signed long term. If this happens, I'd love to see 1 of these 2 alignments: LCB: McGee RCB: Greer Nickel: McKelvin FS: Youboty SS: Whitner or LCB: McKelvin RCB: Greer Nickel: Youboty FS: McGee SS: Whitner I really believe that either of these lineups would cater to each players best qualities and our secondary would definitely be one of the best in the league. If we were able to add some pass rushers at DE and LB in free agency and the draft, I would love the potential of our defense improving to the top 5 in the NFL. By the way, here's an article talking about McGee and what has been expected of him since the first Miami game. http://www.buffalonews.com/sports/billsnfl/story/506427.html

There wasn't one person in that stadium that didn't know what was going to happen on that 3rd and 19 play. I love my Bills, I just hate Dick Jauron. -

We are dominating this game, except for the fact that our QB is the worst player on the field today... Come on Trent, get your head together man! -
Like Jax was last year for JP, this is Trent's "statement&quo

I know that I have 50 posts and he has 1000 or something, but can we ban this guy?????? -
I dont see why we wouldn't just have Greer shadow him, and put Youboty or Mckelvin or Corner on the outside along with McGee... I guess we have to stick to our "gameplan" instead of doing what we should to prepare to beat our opponent

GMs are drooling over Jabari at this point
mike22nc replied to Tcali's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Durrrrr, interceptions are all that matter, durrrrr. Do you watch the games? I'm sure NFL GMs just turn to the stat page on NFL.com and pay based on that. They dont actually WATCH the games, that would be stupid right? I guarantee you that Greer gets over 5-6 mil a year... -
Did you happen to watch the game today? Greer is ALWAYS in the receivers hip pocket. Teams rarely throw the ball his way, and when they do, you see what happens. Just because he didn't come into the league as a highly touted draft pick doesn't change the fact that he's become a true top flight corner in this league. We cannot let him leave as a free agent at the end of this year. I've said this before and I'll say it again. I'd much rather lock up jabari long term and let mcgee walk after next year than let Greer leave after this year.

Greer is absolutely a better cornerback than mcgee when healthy

I didn't want to say, "Why are we still even worrying about disecting the play of JP Losman? Haven't we done enough of that over the last ~4 years?", without illustrating what my position is. My point is that arguing about this one game is really somewhat stupid when we have so much previous knowledge of the subject. JP didn't look much better or much worse than he has in the past.
-
If you agree, then the post wasn't written for you. I've just read through much of this thread again, and many people tend to ignore the posts that make sense, and argue against what amounts to the lowest quality posts to try and win an argument.

Why are we still even worrying about disecting the play of JP Losman? Haven't we done enough of that over the last ~4 years? Look, he will always show flashes of why he was drafted in the first round despite being not much more than a punching bag who threw the ball far in college. His talent level is probably top 10 in the NFL. When you see that talent, you want to believe that at some point he can put it to good use. The problem is, he's worn out his welcome here. We gave him enough time, he didn't lose his job because of his injury, he lost it because the light bulb just has never gone on for him. Will it at his next stop? I dont think so, but it's possible. I just dont understand how it's possible that he still seems to be the EXACT same player he was in his first season as a starter. This is his job, he has spent countless hours going over the tape of his play, and he still hasn't improved his weaknesses. This, to me, shows a lack of understanding and potential as an NFL quarterback. I dont care if he is or is not to blame for the loss in Arizona. I am just judging JP as our backup quarterback, and I dont at all feel comfortable with him in the game. I'm not suggesting that there is someone better on our roster, or that he is a below average backup. What I AM saying is that, if Trent Edwards misses any extended amount of time, we will have trouble winning with JP at the helm.

You know what play really just made me sit back and notice the true difference between jp and Trent? It wasn't a big play, most of you may not even really remember it. It was a play in the first half, where jp went back to pass, seemed to lock onto someone downfield for an extra second while lynch was out in the flat wide open. By the time jp checked the ball down to him, there was a linebacker shooting towards him. Because of jp's lack of recognition, he turned what would have been at least a 7 yard gain into a 1 yard gain. This play just really illustrates why I love watching Trent play. He gets the ball to our playmakers and let's them make plays. Jp waits and waits and waits, and when he finally finds someone, the defense usually finds them as well. Sorry about the formatting, writing from my phone.

Did you read the sentence right after "he just doesn't get it"? just because someone looks good throwing a football far doesn't make him an NFL quarterback
-
I guess in a way, I also blame trents injury on the loss rather than our defense. I don't think I'm saying they gave up, just that they were forced to play a different game than they prepared for. And, since you just asked someone else, this was indeed posted from my phone
-
I don't understand the premise of the people defending jp. Are you saying he didn't cause the loss or that he played well? Yes, the defense was terrible, does that mean we can't judge how well jp played? He showed the same shortcomings today as he showed when he first came in the league. You can definitely see the talent, but he just doesn't get it. He doesn't get rid of the ball at the right time, and he doesn't put the ball in a place where his receivers can catch it and go. I don't blame jp for the loss, he was trying out there, but I think you can say that when your #1 qb gets injured on the first drive, the entire game is changed, and usually changed for the worse.
-
I know that JP, and I sure dont love him...
-
I really do not believe the loss of McGee is a HUGE loss. I think Greer is by far our best cover corner. McGee tends to play off the receiver more than Greer, and I dont see why McKelvin cant step in there and do a decent job. I'd have to say that the loss of Boldin far outweighs the loss of McGee.
-
Any chance we can lock this guy up long term? Is he unrestricted after this season? I'd much rather keep him and let McGee walk after next year, and have McKelvin, Greer and Youboty as our 3 CBs.

Well, I wonder how you would act if you were the best to ever do something... -
" Gotta love how Ashton has shown up this year. The guy has been one of our top 5 defensive players this year.
