  1. Well that's discouraging to read. I plan to attend for the first time ever this Friday afternoon with the wife and my 9 and 11 year old sons. We are coming all the way from Denver so I hope as part of the aforementioned great unwashed my boys do not end up too disillusioned. Any tips for when, where to go at what time for both viewing and autographs would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance for any such posts as I will be off line for a while, so don't think me unappreciative for any helpful replies.
  2. I have had it every year since '96 and although I can still afford it, I am contemplating dropping it just on principle because of how high it is getting. My current bill has on it a charge for early renewal of NFL Sunday ticket in 6 payments of $44.99. Do the math and that is $269.94, plus another $100 for Superfan in order to get HD. I also don't like that they auto renew without consulting me first.
  3. Thanks man. I'd rather be "just showing up" at Canton, but this will have to do.
  4. Do you know if only the night practices and first weekend are ticketed? I'll bringing the wife and kids with me from the Denver area and am specifically targeting Friday afternoon practice on 8/7. Am thinking we can just show up but better to be sure.
  5. Agreed. She actually went off on him twice and he stayed quiet both times. Am pretty sure, though, that right at the very end when they were walking away he said something like "I feel sorry for your boyfriend".
  6. Let's hope Kollar is so high on McCargo he convinces the Texans to give us a high pick for him.
  7. I remember that, but not the player's name. I recall he was a wide receiver who came to Bills training camp and got cut. I remember his role on the show was only as an anonymous player for the opposing team in game scenes.
  8. I'll second that. All three seasons have been excellent. By far the show I most look forward to. Extremely well written and well cast. We need a better fullback, so draft Riggins!
  9. Is the mentality many of us, especially I, will have. First, how likely is it that we start out 4-0 or 5-1? Simple probabilities say not very. Second, even if we did, we are now trained to not even be able to enjoy that for the expectation we will find more new and creative ways to choke. That is a lot of negative baggage going into next season. I felt more optimistic after 3-13 seasons. I have always been the eternal optimist, but am not feeling it so much anymore.
  10. I have paid for Sunday Ticket every single year since 1996 in order to watch the Bills, and these last two years paid the extra $99 for Superfan just so I could see the games in HD. I still have a problem with paying $250 for Sunday Ticket, paying $10/month for HD service, and then not being able to see the games in HD unless I pay the extra $99 for Superfan. Economy aside, I would continue to do this like always due to my love for the team, but as many others have written, I really feel different and way more discouraged than I can ever remember, and therefore have had serious thoughts about bailing on it next season, not because of the economy, but because of not wanting to give someone a significant amount of money to bend me over, slap me around and break my heart. If I do not renew after all these years, it will be because of the lack of faith, their ability to continue to find new ways to choke and blow games, and expectation of heartbreak, but will tell DirecTV it's because of their BS policy of making subscribers of both Sunday Ticket and HD having to pay that extra $99. If I were a betting man, though, I'd bet that I'll cave and keep it going, only to get the rug yanked out from under me/us yet again.
  11. I remember that. As young kids we changed it to "the Bills are due in 2002". Thought it was funny at the time to pick a date 30 years out, but now, sadly, that's 6 plus years in the rear view mirror and we're still not due.
  12. Oops - sorry for the blank reply above. Haven't even started drinking yet. I remember watching that game. Going strictly from memory, the two things that stand out were a) the touchdown where Bill Simpson was beat, where if I recall correctly, he gambled and went for the pick and it cost him/us. b) Fergie's injury. Maybe it was my bias, but I thought it was a cheap play by I believe Louis Kelcher, who was on the ground and seemed to intentionally fall/roll into Fergie after the ball was already out of his hand.
  13. As Azalin's brother, I can tell you he rarely is on this board anymore, but as he has lived in Austin for quite a while, he is not totally on top of the SA sports bar scene. Neither am I, as I have been gone from there for some time now myself. However, when I did live there I can tell you the best place was http://www.fatsossportsgarden.com/ It is not an official Bills bar, and if the Cowboys are playing there will be a ton of annoying Cowboy fans, but Azalin and I were always in the company of plenty of other Bills fans. One of the more enjoyable things was when the Cowboys were playing and losing, pretty much all the fans from every other NFL team were unified in cheering the Boys' opponent.
  14. Thanks, you saved me some work. I've been thinking of making the trip from Denver to Buffalo specifically for such a multi game weekend this year.
  15. Sorry (a little) to revive an older thread, but to answer you, Pete, Azalin does not visit TDB any more, but my brother is alive and well.
  16. Wasn't that some kind of Scottish thing? I seem to recall ICE being into that stuff, like Highlands Games kinds of competions. Man, this thread brings back a lot of memories. I had forgotten about tha Hyperbills board, but do remember Kultar's pouch and Bob Lamb. This goes way back and I don't know who else may remember, but I also recall long time ago posters Azalin and The Council, who used to speak as a collective.
  17. Even though I've been out here 8 years now, I'm still neutral, at best, with regard to the Broncos. Although not the first athlete to take out a full-page ad to his fans, I was impressed with this in yesterday's Rocky Mountain News, superimposed over an action shot of him: Dear Broncos Fans, As of today, I am no longer a Denver Bronco. I leave the team with no regrets, never saying "What If?," and grateful to have played for such loyal fans who have loved and supported not just me, but my family as well. The last eight years of my and my family's life have been special because of you. You have opened your arms and your hearts to us and we will never forget it. Your support, enthusiasm, love and dedication are gifts I will carry with me my entire life. The fans and people of Denver have treated me better than I could ever have hoped for and I will be forever in your debt for your unwavering support, appreciation and respect over my tenure with the Broncos. I may leave the Broncos, but will never forget the people who made it all worthwhile - my fans. Thank you for supporting me over the last eight years, and I hope you will cheeer me on as I continue to play the game I love so much. I plan on making Denver a significant part of my future plans and will endeavor for the rest of my days to find a way to thank each and every one of you for all that you have done for me and my family. You cheered for me for eight years and now I cheer for you for the rest of my life. You will always be in my heart, thoughts and prayers. Your friend always, Al Wilson, No. 56
  18. I remember that law passing as well. I'm no lawyer, but I think you can force them to allow you to do it. I have had Sunday Ticket every season since '96. Every season except one of those I was in my own home so I had no problem. The one season I was in an aprtment they said you cannot attach a dish to their building/property. I can't remember if that law had passed yet or not at that time. Rather than argue, I picked up a 5 gallon bucket from Home Depot, a bag of Quickcrete and a length of PVC the diameter of the mounting pole and made my own setup on my patio. I had arrived here in Denver the night before the '99 season opener and literally had this set up and working a few minutes before kcickoff the next day.
