  1. I find it fascinating you can bet on the draft. It’s like betting on what somebody’s gonna eat for dinner.
  2. This has a 1999 draft feel when Winfield was linked to the Bills at pick 23 for awhile. I think it’ll be McDuffie, Booth, or Gordon.
  3. LB (the ones who don’t rush the QB) and RB are the 2 positions where the 5th year option is probably least valuable to the team when you consider how de-valued those positions have become. The LB’s gotta be Fred Warner good not Tremaine good to justify the 5th year option price tag. And even more so for a RB. Dude’s gotta be pre-injury McCaffrey special for the economics to work to take a RB in the 1st round.
  4. I honestly have no feel for where Bills are heading in the draft. I guess that means McBeane have done a good job not tipping their hand. Only assumption safe to make is they won’t be drafting a QB in the first 2 rounds.
  5. Not sure if Pro Bowl alternate bumps up the 5th year option, but yes his 5th year option would’ve went up if he made Pro Bowl.
  6. Getting voted to a Pro Bowl determining how much the 5th year option is needs to go away. How can you tell a team that something as arbitrary as a Pro Bowl selection just increased the guaranteed amount of the option?
  7. $10.75m for a DT who’s shown potential of getting after the QB ain’t a bad investment.
  8. Analytics people love guys like Pickens who are dominant at age 18 in the SEC.
  9. 3 years, $30m, $20mgtd. Add extra years to pump up the headline numbers for his wife
  10. You do have a point. We’re all happy that Bates is back, but for an RFA who’s trying to get the best contract it’s definitely a deterrent to other teams getting involved if the matching team can restructure the contract immediately.
  11. Landry, Richie, Tannehill… anybody else? Yikes. Didn’t mean to trigger you.
  12. Bates said he wanted to stay in buffalo. Doubt he was gonna sign a contract that Buffalo couldn’t match because of how it was structured.
  13. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2022/04/08/dan-campbell-dolphins-had-a-player-who-practiced-every-day-reeking-of-alcohol/ Gotta be Richie. Discuss.
  14. Gotta love social media, but he deserves to be taken care of by the Bills. He’s still playing really well and it’s only normal that a 31 year old on the last year of his deal wants a new one.
  15. Agreed, but it’s probably gonna take a lot less to make Poyer happy than Edmunds. Poyer deserves to be taken care of. Give him $3-4m in new money this year, guarantee his 2022 base salary and half his 2023 base. Let Rosenhaus report that it’s a 4 year $40m contract. Everybody’s happy.
  16. Definitely not a good look to have your wife spouting off about the contract you signed, but it’s an understandable position for Poyer to take. Given his age, his market value in 2023 will be significantly lower than it would’ve been if he were a free agent this year. Beane didn’t put a gun to his head 2 years ago when Poyer signed the extension. I’m sure Beane doesn’t wanna make a habit of giving every vet a new deal when he’s unhappy with the contract he signed, but Poyer is a core guy and leader. I think Beane makes an exception here and makes sure one of his heart and soul guys is happy. Gives him another 2 year extension.
  17. from poyers perspective, this is probably the last year for him to get a decent multi-year deal. He’s coming off his best year but is 31. Unfortunately for him, NFL doesn’t pay for past performance. In 2023, a 32 year old safety ain’t gonna be in demand. I don’t blame him for wanting a new deal now, but that could very well mean that Bills gotta part ways.
  18. interesting timing. one things for sure, we can’t keep paying our back 7 on defense this kind of money. If the choice is paying Edmunds or Poyer, I fear McBeane picks Edmunds because he’s younger and faster.
  19. Edmunds and pick 25 for Bradberry and pick 19 (after New Orleans trades up to pick 5 for a QB). Then we take Dean or Lloyd at pick 19.
  20. Probably really a 3 year deal like miller’s, but $70m guaranteed over first 3 years. Ain’t paying a 32-33 year old WR $25m per year. Looks like McBeane is thinking 3 year Super Bowl window with the current group.
  21. Yes. Really hard to come to a conclusion when you don’t include the statistics for the population of players who didn’t suffer ACL injuries.
  22. Problem is a lot of these enforcer types get abused in the passing game and they also can’t play that way for very long if they want any longevity. One guy I loved when he was on the Bucs was Jordan Whitehead. Dude was a heat seaking missile that brought a physicality to that defense. But do these guys continue to play that way into their 2nd contract? Milano and Poyer have played that way in spurts but seems like they all end up making business decisions now and then.
  23. Where’s Will Smith when you need him. ‘Keep Bills player’s names out your ****’n mouth’
  24. Bradberry probably better option but McBeane gotta be involved with Gimore too just to make sure you get 1 of the vet CB’s out there
  25. He only played 8 games last year. In terms of a contract, he’s certainly a prime candidate for some NLTBE ( not likely to be earned) incentives that won’t effect the 2022 cap. Hard to believe MCBeane is gonna roll with Dane Jackson and a rookie at CB when they are clearly in all-in mode.
